Crawford Street
(February 2000) Yes, there is a Crawford Street in San Diego! Here I am posing with it (I've always wanted to do that). There's a John Street in Salinas, CA, and I got a picture of the sign, but I'm not in it. I think they named it for John Steinbeck... the National Steinbeck Center is just a few blocks away from there.
Back in San Diego, though, I've always liked Crawford Street. It's pretty close to me, too... I never get a red light there. :) There's also a Crawford High School here.
March 15th, 2001: This is bad. There was a triple murder and a suicide ON CRAWFORD STREET yesterday. A family of four, gone in a matter of minutes. That never happens in this neighborhood... Very sad and very scary. :(
Cartwright Street
(February 2000) But, no, I'm not special. My friend Ben Cartwright has a Cartwright Street just two blocks up the hill from Crawford Street! Hee hee... and Ben lives about two blocks up from there.
I've known Ben since we were in Builders Club together (I was in 8th grade, he was in 7th). We spent our high school years in Key Club at Patrick Henry High School (he was a damn good Key Club president, two years in a row!). He's now in Circle K with me at San Diego State University.
The Watermelon Picture!
(August 2000) This is the Watermelon Picture! On the left is Jim Kilbourn, my friend from Wisconsin. Well, he's a native of Missouri, but he goes to school in a town called La Crosse. He was in San Diego this year for the Circle K International Convention and he had a BLAST... he had never seen the ocean before so we took him to Coronado and Torrey Pines - he spent a whole day at the beach. We take the ocean for granted here in California, but to see somebody so impressed with it really makes you think.
I'm not sure where he got the watermelon but he was taking good care of it. He had never seen an avocado before either so we bought him one. (Jim, you need to spend more time out west!)
Also in the picture are Crystal Matsuoka (Cal State Fullerton) and Kim Nguyen (University of La Verne alum).
