The GENERAL CONTEXT of such use is:
The term refers to Carl Jung, the student and protégé of Sigmund Freund, founder of the practice of Analytic Psychology and the field of Transpersonal Psychology, and "discover" of the Collective Consciousness of humanity. Actually, the Collective has been known to humanity for aeons, but it was mostly through Jung's research and works about the Collective that it became more well known (popular) to the general populace over the last century. According to the OA/OWB's Hall of Records, Carl Jung eventually became a member of the OA/OWB, having, of his own free will and industry, actualized his maturity of mind, and providing him with access to the OA/OWB and that consciousness of which he did write. However, in doing so (writing), he did realize the realities of secularity and accordingly (as "strongly" as was possible, within those secular realities of the times in which he wrote) and appropriately (for such times and such societal/professional strictures, as were applied to him and and his profession) did "couch" such writings and telling of his research, in the "accepted" professional manner as was allowable for such environs.
Regardless of such limitations, his work, in bearing the news to secular humanity, of the existence of the Collective, the Veil of Separation, and the requirements of "knowing oneSelf" in order to access one's mature mind, are, nevertheless, important and groundbreaking endeavors which have contributed immensely to the KNOWING of humanity and have thusly paved the way for this writer's efforts as well.
