Chapter 26

Jayme tapped her fingers to the table she was sitting at while trying to think of the next line to a song she was writing. She had just gone through hair and make up for her new video and was trying to pass time while waiting for the new dancers. Her album had been released for a few days and she was impatiently awaiting to hear how it was doing.

She hadn't talked to any of the guys since she left the tour and it was tearing her apart, she thought that maybe AJ would have called her, but she hadn't received one phone call and she was dying to see how Nick was doing.

She began writing as another lyric popped into her mind, she had been getting a lot better at writing lately, every time she thought about Nick, which was all the time.

She was still hurting that he didn't come after her. She wondered if maybe she was hanging on to a dream that would never come true. Kevin had said he could tell Nick was in-love with her. So why didn't she see it?

"Jayme?" Jayme heard behind her. She turned to see Erin and smiled.

"Hey."

"The dancers are here."

"OK, I'm on my way."

After Erin exited the trailer Jayme stood and checked herself in the mirror she had lost a little weight, which she was proud of and was looking a lot better.

She walked to the door and held her hand on the doorknob sighing heavily, "come on Jayme you can do this. I know you can."

She opened the door hesitantly and stepped outside to see about ten people standing around waiting for her. She greeted them with a smile but inside wished she was somewhere else........anywhere else.

***************************

"My album debuted where?" Jayme squealed as Erin stood in front of her.

"Your album debuted at number one, congratulations."

"Oh My God! This is so awesome." "I'm so happy for you, I know how hard you've worked and how much you've been through." "This is amazing, thank you." Jayme said hugging Erin tightly. "For everything."

"Don't thank me. You did all the work."

"This whole day has been amazing, the video, the album."

"You worked hard. How about you take the rest of the night to relax or whatever."

"I will, thanks."

"Hush, don't thank me."

"Okay. So I'll talk to you later? Bye."

"Sure Bye."

Jayme turned to find her way to her trailer, the smile on her face from the news she had just received never leaving her face.

"Jayme?"

Jayme turned to see one of her new dancers, she tried to remember the name. Ashley? No Amy. Something like that. She was pretty, tall, thin, long brown hair and beautiful green eyes.

"Yeah?"

"I heard about your album, congratulations."

Jayme's smile grew and she said, "Thanks."

"I'm sure you and Nick have a lot to celebrate. See you soon, bye." The girl said before smiling and turning away.

That caused Jayme's smile to fade. People really thought her and Nick were together? If only.......

She made her way to her trailer and grabbed her things in a hurry to make it back to her hotel room. She didn't wanna see anyone, didn't wanna talk to anyone.

At the hotel she threw her bag on the bed while throwing her hair in a lose bun and made her way to the mini bar grabbing the first thing she saw and opening it taking a large gulp.

"Alcohol always makes you feel better." She said laying on the bed and staring at the ceiling. 'It's like milk, it does the body good."

She grabbed the remote control and set up turning on the TV and flipping through the channels. Stopping when she saw the Backstreet Boys, she quickly turned the TV off and looked at the mini bar raising her drink, "At least it will make me forget Nick."

*****************************

"AJ your flat." Kevin said for what seemed like the millionth time as they stood around in the studio recording their new album.

"Yeah AJ, make my lyrics sound good." Nick added from his spot on the couch holding a coke.

After Jayme had left Nick had been writing lyrics and had come up with a song he was very much proud of and wanted it to be included on the new Backstreet Boys album.

"Have you heard from Jayme?" AJ changed the subject as his heart went out to Nick and the look on his face. It was clear Jayme had never left his mind or heart.

Nick lowered his head wishing no one had brought the subject up. "No."

"She hasn't called?" Brian asked his expression softening.

"I just said I haven't talked to her!" Nick snapped.

"Nick calm down, she'll call." Kevin said.

"Let's just get back to work."

"Nick....."

"Anyway about the album....." And Nick ignored the questions and looks he was getting from the other guys. He knew they were worried about him. He could see it in there face and dammit he WAS hurting but he didn't wanna talk about it.

Jayme had left, just like that. It was over and he would have to learn to except that fact.

It was completely over.......

***************************

"Oops, bottle empty." Jayme giggled as she tossed another bottle across the room from her spot in the corner.

Jayme looked up quickly at her bag on the bed as she heard her cell phone ringing. "Nope nobody's here." She giggled before crawling to the bed and reaching inside to answer her phone.

"Hello." She hiccupped.

"Jayme?"

"Yup that's me. And you?"

"AJ. How are you?"

"Fine." She hiccupped again.

"You don't sound okay. You sound drunk."

"Who me? Noooooo."

"Jayme....."

"Fuck you."

"What's wrong?"

"Ask Kevin."

"Kevin?"

"I'm gone, no more tour." Jayme said as tears filled her eyes.

"You miss Nick don't you."

"Kevin lied to me."

"About what?"

"He said Nick loved me. He lied, Nick didn't come for me."

"Nick did come for you, he loves you."

"NO! No more lies."

"I'm not lying." AJ said softly.

"Gotta go."

"Jayme....."

"Bye." And Jayme hung up.

She threw the phone onto the floor after hanging up and pulled her way onto the bed curling into a ball as tears filled her eyes, "No more lies, bye Nicky.........bye Carter."
