Chapter 25
Nick wandered backstage in search of Jayme, he had to see her. He had to tell her he loved her. He smiled at the thought that soon they would hold each other. He knew she loved him, he knew God couldn't be that cruel.
He frowned when he didn't see her anywhere.
"Just hold in there Carter." He told himself. "She's here you just gotta be patient."
"Hey man what's up?" AJ asked coming up behind Nick.
Nick turned around quickly his eyes wide. He had been waiting to talk to Jayme since before the concert and was losing his mind slowly.
"Have you seen Jayme?" He asked.
"Yeah a few minutes ago she was in the dressing room saying good bye to us."
Nick's heart sank, "good bye?"
"Yeah last night one tour, it sucks man. She's gotta be in LA to film her new video........"
AJ didn't even get the entire sentence out before Nick took off running in search of Jayme before she left. He dodged many crew members and what he assumed were fans, he finally made it to the dressing room throwing the door open and eagerly looking around for Jayme.
"Where is she?" He asked out of breathe.
"Who?" Brian asked.
"Jayme! Where the hell is she?"
"She just left Nick, is everything okay?" Kevin asked.
Nick's face fell and he fought back tears, she had left him. She had just left without talking to him. Maybe she didn't love him. "Fuck."
"Nick man what was that." AJ asked walking into the room.
Nick turned to look at AJ but didn't say a word, it was written all over his face. And AJ quickly grabbed Nick in a tight hug.
"It's okay. She knows you love her."
"But I never got to say it, I never got to hold her."
"Wait! Nick, are we talking about Jayme?" Brian interrupted.
Nick wiped his tears and nodded, not feeling up to speaking.
"It's about time." Howie said.
"Yeah really. We were wondering when you two were gonna open your eyes." Brian said.
"And of course they both realize it and don't say anything until its too late." Kevin said shaking his head.
"What do you mean we BOTH realize it?" Nick asked raising his head to look at Kevin.
"Yeah what do you mean?" AJ asked. "Did what me and Lindsay do have and affect on her at all?"
"What?" Nick and Kevin said at the same time.
"I guess its time I tell you Nick."
"Tell me what?"
"Me and Lindsay kinda worked on trying to make you and Jayme realize you were in love."
"Is that why Lindsay and Nick ended up together?" Kevin asked.
"Yeah."
"What? You did that on purpose?" Nick asked his eyes widening.
"Nick, I'm sorry."
"Shit AJ. How could you?"
"I just wanted you to be happy."
"So you went and did something like that to me?"
"I just wanted you to be with Jayme, she made you happy."
"Maybe that's why I think I love her, you brainwashed me."
"No Nick, that's not it." Kevin said quickly. "You love her and she loves you."
"Yeah? Is that why she left so quickly?"
"Nick, you love her. I can see it in your eyes, don't lose that."
"But...."
"No buts." AJ said. "Go to her."
"She's on her way to LA, I can't find her now."
"Yes, you can, if you hurry, her plane doesn't leave for about 30 minutes you can catch if you try."
Nick looked at all the faces around him before turning and running as fast as he could once again, in search of Jayme. To tell her he loved her.

Nick ran into the airport ignoring the bystanders he was practically running into. He made his way to the front desk and tried catching his breathe.
"Can I help you sir?" The woman asked.
"The flight.......the flight to LA."
"Yes, What about it?"
"When does it leave?"
"It's leaving as we speak sir." She said pointing to the window where you could see a plane taking off.
Nick looked at the plane, no emotion being shown in his face.
"Sir if you missed your plane we can schedule you for another one." The woman told him.
But Nick just turned and walked away. He fought back tears as he slowly walked out of the airport, he had missed her. Just like that she was gone. It was over. He loved her so much, he could feel that in his heart but she had left him anyway. It must have meant she didn't love him, she didn't feel the same way he did. But how could she not? What did that mean for him? What was he gonna do without her? Could he possible live, possibly love again? Was that possible?
He flagged down a cab and gave directions to his hotel, he felt like crawling into a hole and dying. What was he gonna tell the guys? He knew they were right, he loved Jayme. Why did he have to take so long to figure it out? Why was it so hard? Why couldn't he have just opened his eyes?
When the cab pulled up to the hotel Nick jumped out and ran to the hotel trying to get passed the fans. Once inside he saw the other guys waiting for him.
"Are you okay?" Kevin asked jumping up and looking at Nick closely. "You left without your bodyguard."
"Fine." Nick brushed them off walking past them.
"Nick! What's going on?" Brian asked.
Nick turned around and faced them with a sad expression, "she left. Just like that. She left and I missed her."
"Oh Nick, don't worry. You'll can still tell her how you feel." AJ said.
"Yeah, don't worry, it will all work out." Howie added.
"No, I don't think so." Nick said his head hanging low.
"Why not?" Brian asked.
"Because, if she loved me she wouldn't have left."
"She's just scared." Kevin told him.
"NO!! She's not scared she doesn't love me...."
"Nick." Brian said touching his arm gently.
"Stop!" Nick jerked away from his touch. "It's over, she's gone."
"Just because she's gone doesn't mean the feelings you have for her will leave too." Kevin said trying to calm Nick down.
"She's gone, its over." Nick said before turning and heading for his room.
"It's over." He whispered to himself as tears flooded his eyes. "I love you so much Jayme, why did you have to leave?"

"We will be landing in Los Angeles in a few hours." Jayme heard the flight attendant say but it didn't register. Her mind was elsewhere.
Miles away, with Nick. She didn't want to leave. She even thought about running back to him. But she had hoped he'd run after her, and coming to the conclusion that if he didn't it meant he didn't love her she boarded the plane. It had hurt her more than anything to say good-bye to all the guys and leave Nick like that. She didn't know such pain existed.
She rested her head on the window and stared at the clouds surrounding her. She closed her eyes and tears rolled down her cheeks. He had just let her go. It was over........."oh Nick." She whispered.
What had happened to them? What had happened to J and Carter, to forever?
It was over.
