the story |
| Idiot Box was the egg of a chicken outfit called That Man There
that Gareth was in with some other people like Adam who played guitar,
Anne who stood quite still, Sarah who sung songs and Peter who wrote songs
on the bus. They came from Durham, which has a great big cathedral which
you can climb up and talk to monks and things. One day, Gareth and Adam
and another girl called Anne went to University in Bradford (which has
a cathedral too, the least-visited one in the country) and took the band
with them. Peter stayed at home to make pies and sausages and beer and
soon stayed at home for good. Mr. Richard, who has been around for years,
helped them to play their songs, but then Sarah went on holiday in Amsterdam
and worked in a hotel. so then Jez, and Katie, who showed us her bum before
she sang a word, helped them until it was time to buy a bikini. Time then
for Andy, who has two feet, hands and eyes, and Debra, who was mental,
to help instead. Anne wanted to grow guinea pigs instead, so Mickey came
along to help and Rich played guitar, which brings us neatly to Idiot
Box. Then there was a war and Mickey had to go away, so then the boy
Ste came and played drums, while Gareth played bass and changed his name
to Gaz. Soon, they were also helped by Ben who has hair cuts, which left
Adam pretty much out of a job. But then Ste and Ben didn't want to help,
so Gaz and Rich asked Kris to help instead and he really wanted to, which
was nice. After a while, they were struck by the need for more noise in
the band, so when Matty fell down the stairs, they knew they had found
a worthy addition. Hooray!
Thank you so much to everyone we've all worked with so far. Not surprisingly, before we either joined or became Idiot Box, we were all in other bands. The ones you might have heard of include: The Applemoths, Windy Miller, Sunfish Doo, Bullweek, That Man There, Voorhees, Stab Happy, Underbelly and Brand New Skidoo. See the links page for further info. Oh yes, we have recorded some songs. You can hear most of these by going to our mp3 page.
