He sleepily brushed his cheek and settled back down. Julia tried to keep in the laugh that wanted to escape her lips. She did it again, this time under his chin. He itched his chin and grumbled something.
Julia couldn't help it, she laughed and Nick's eyes opened.
"What's so funny?" he asked rubbing his eyes.
"Nothing."
"Would it be because you were tickling me with a sheet?" he smirked.
"You knew?" Julia pouted.
Nick laughed, "How are you feeling?"
"Sore, but much better than yesterday. It was really nice of you to let me stay here." she smiled.
"Well, I felt bad about how sick you felt." Nick said sincerely.
"Yeah?" Julia smiled.
"Yeah."
She looked deep into his eyes and she had the sudden urge to kiss him, that's when she stood up from him.
"Want me to make us breakfast?" she offered.
"Yeah, I'll help." he said getting up.
Julia walked downstairs with Nick behind her. They decided to make pancakes. When she was just taking the last batch off the stove, she thanked Nick again for letting her stay.
"Your welcome. I liked having the company." he said.
Leigh smiled and put the pancakes on the table. She turned around and bumped into Nick.
"Oh, sorry." she said.
"You uh, have batter on your face." Nick said wiping it away.
"Thanks." she said still standing close to Nick.
Again, she felt the want to kiss him, but then she thought of Devon and looked away because she knew this time, Nick wanted to kiss her back.
"Where are your cups?" she asked.
As they were just about to eat, Nick's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"It's Gabby, is Julia still there?"
"Yeah, hold on." Nick said handing the phone to Julia and mouthing 'Gabby'.
"Hey Gab. What's up?"
"Nothing, will you call Devon please? He is calling here every 15 minutes looking for you." Gabby complained.
Julia sighed, "Yep, thanks bye."
She hung up on Gabby and dialed Devon's number.
"Hey, it's me."
"Are you at the dorm?" Devon asked firmly.
"No."
"Where are you then?" he said, sound annoyed.
"At Nick's house."
"What are you doing there?" he yelled.
"I got sick." Julia said feeling intimidated.
"So you stay with another guy? If your sick, then I will take care of you. Do you understand?" he said loudly.
"Devon, calm down. I'm sorry, okay? What do you want me to do?" she said feeling helpless.
"Come over to my dorm now." he said hanging up.
Julia hung up the phone and turned to Nick.
"Everything okay?" he asked, knowing the answer was no.
"I guess, I gotta go though."
"Okay, I will drive you." Nick offered.
He dropped her off at Devon's and as he was driving away he wondered why if Devon was so lucky to have Julia, then why did he treat her so bad?
