She went to close the book and she flinched in pain. She bit her lip to hold back a few tears from the pain. She looked down at herself and couldn't remember a time she had ever been so severely burned.
"Nick?" she said weakly looking around her.
No one was outside but her.
"Nick?" she said a little louder.
Still no response.
"Nick!" she yelled.
She heard the sliding glass door open and Nick stood in front of her.
"Hey sleepy. None of us wanted to wake you up, you looked too peaceful." he said.
"Nick, the sunscreen wasn't waterproof. I am so burnt, I can't even move."
Nick slowly helped her up and her eyes welled up with tears.
"I am so sorry ... this is all my fault." he said apologetically.
"No it's not. Let me just, ouch, call Gab for a ride."
"No, no. Why don't you stay here for the night? You can stay in the guest room and I will take care of you. Come on, I let you be my nurse earlier." he smirked.
Nick called Gabby and Brooke and told them what happened and that she was staying the night. Then he got Julia a pair of his boxers and a t-shirt for her to sleep in. She went into the bathroom and changed. She came out hunched over, with chlorine tattered hair and she was walking very slowly.
"How sexy am I?" she laughed.
Nick laughed a little and pulled back the covers for her to get in.
He helped her get comfortable then asked if she needed anything else.
"I know you have done so much for me already, but can I have some water? I'm really thirsty." she said.
Nick nodded and headed downstairs. A minute later he arrived back upstairs with a tall glass of water.
"Thanks." Julia said after taking a sip.
Nick crossed the room and grabbed the TV clicker, then handed it to her.
"You can order PPV or anything. And I will be in the room next to this so if you need anything, just yell. Okay? Also do you want any aloe or snacks or anything?" he offered.
"No thanks. Hey if all the beds in your house are as comfortable as this one, you may have a hard time getting me to leave." she giggled.
"That wouldn't be so bad." he said heading to the door.
"Nick?"
"Yeah?" he said turning around.
"Thanks." Julia said through a smile.
Nick smiled back at her.
"Goodnight Julia." he said softly shutting the door.
