"Um, wow. That's a lot of stuff." she commented.
"Yeah, I know but I am just happy that we can be friends." Leigh smiled.
"Friends?" Anna coughed out, "Ugh, I think Nick thinks you're more."
Leigh sat for a minute.
"Yeah, you know what? I gotta go. I will talk to you later. Okay? Bye." Leigh said and hung up the phone.
Leigh sat there a minute, a little worried about what Nick really thought they were. She turned on the radio, hoping to clear her mind. Leigh started singing.
As Leigh was singing, Nick had come up to her room because no one answered the front door. He watched her dancing around her room for a second, then he snuck up behind her and grabbed her sides to scare her.
Leigh let out a yelp, then she turned around.
"Nick!" she yelled and punched him in the shoulder.
He laughed at her, and kissed her on the cheek.
"You know you love me," he laughed.
Leigh stiffened up when he kissed her.
"Ugh, we need to talk." she said, sitting down on her bed.
Nick sat down next to her, "I was only kidding about the you loving me thing." he said, thinking that was what it was about.
"Yeah, I know. It's about yesterday. You kissed me and I loved it, and I will always remember my first kiss. I will. But you left thinking we were a couple, or something. And I left thinking we were friends. I mean we started off as strangers, then we hated each other, so I figured friends now. Nick, I'm not ready to be more." she said hoping she didn't let him down.
"Oh, okay. I understand. Ugh, I guess I will go home then, and talk to you later." Nick said disappointed.
He went to stand up and Leigh grabbed his arm so he went flying back down onto the bed. Leigh pinned him down.
"Stop being Mr. Depresso, I didn't say we couldn't be more, I just want to take things slow. Everything is a first for me." she said, "Okay?" she said smiling down at him.
"Okay." he agreed.
He stayed for a little longer, then they decided to go rent some movies. The got in his car, went to the movie place and rented 'Love Stinks' and 'Final Destination'. They watched Love Stinks first, because it was a comedy.
After it was over, Leigh offered to get drinks and snacks. They both got up and headed towards the kitchen.
They just walked in when the phone rang.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Hi. It's Mom. I have to fly out to New York for a case. I will be back tomorrow night. There is money is the cookie jar and Anna's Mom said you can stay there if you want. I am really sorry honey, but I have to go. I love you. Bye bye." Leigh's mother, Helen, said quickly.
"All right, I love you, bye." Leigh hung up the phone, and saw Nick eyeing her.
"Who do you love?" he said jokingly.
"That was my Mom. She has to fly out to New York for a case and she will be back tomorrow night." Leigh said grabbing drinks.
"So you will be alone tonight?" Nick said raising his eyebrows.
"Yes! And it's staying that way mister!" she laughed.
She dumped the food into Nick's arms, and she grabbed the drinks. The put in the second movie, it was a thriller.
About 45 minutes into the movie, Nick looked over at Leigh and saw her eyes were glued to the TV. He snuck his arm behind her, and poked her sharply. Leigh shrieked.
"I hate you Nick Carter!" she yelled.
"Aww, come on." he said flashing his famous half smile.
She smiled back at him. Then she moved closer to him and he put his arm around her.
"Thanks" she said.
"For what?" he asked.
"Ya know, just being you." she said.
He smiled and lightly kissed her on the lips.
She laid her head down on his shoulder and went back to watching the movie. Nick looked at her once more.
He wanted so much to ask her to he his girlfriend, but he already knew she needed time.
