Leigh laughed at her, "Your coming over right?" she wondered.
"Not to your house! Please no anything but that!" Anna joked because she didn't understand why Leigh always asked that question. They were over each other's houses almost everyday.
The girls walked into Leigh's house, and went to the kitchen to grab drinks and snacks. Just when they were about to sit down, the phone rang.
Leigh walked over and picked up the phone, "Hello?" she answered.
"Hi, Is Leigh there?" a familiar voice asked.
"This is me. Who's this?" she asked.
"It's Nick." he replied.
"Oh, Hi Nick" Leigh responded trying not to sound bummed out.
At the sound of Nick's name, Anna got out of her seat and tried to listen into the phone conversation. Leigh waved her away and walked into the other room.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to go out tomorrow?" he asked on the other line.
"Why does Anna know we are all going out?" Leigh asked oblivious.
Nick lightly laughed on the other line, "I kinda meant just me and you. So what do you think?" he offered.
Leigh wanted to smack herself, but she said she would go, out of pity.
"Okay, I will pick you up tomorrow at noon. Bye!" Nick said before hanging up.
Leigh hung up and dragged herself back into the kitchen.
"Well?" Anna asked.
Leigh plopped down in her chair, "He is picking me up tomorrow at noon." she said and took a sip from her drink.
"Aren't you excited?" Anna cried out.
Leigh put her drink down, "What do I have to do? Wear a sign that says Not Interested!?" she sighed.
Anna just rolled her eyes at her friends remark, "Nick is a great guy. Give him a chance...for me?" Anna pleaded.
Leigh nodded then the two girls decided on what Leigh should wear for the date.
The next morning, Leigh showered, got dressed, then did her hair and make-up. She had picked out a fuzzy white sweater, jeans, hair pulled up in a high ponytail and a gold locket. When Leigh was all ready, she stepped out of the bathroom,
"How do I look?" she asked Anna.
"Nick is gonna faint!" she laughed.
The two girls sat down on the bed laughing, when the doorbell downstairs rang.
Leigh shot up from the bed, "Oh no, he's here! What do I do?" she cried out.
"Calm down! Why are you nervous?" Anna said.
"I don't know, I just am!" she said.
"Well, calm down, you'll be fine. Have fun and call me when you get home!" Anna said before she went jogging down the stairs.
She opened the door and told Nick that Leigh would be right down. Then she said bye, and drove home.
Nick was waiting for Leigh when he heard a door close upstairs, and Leigh started down the stairs.
"You look really pretty." Nick complemented.
"Uh, thanks." Leigh said blushing.
He placed his hand on her back to lead her out the door, but he felt her stiffen up so, he took his hand back.
They got in the car and started to drive, the car was completely silent, so Nick turned on the radio.
"Ooh I love this song!" Leigh confessed.
Nick smiled at her and she started to sing along.
"Your voice is really good" Nick said.
"Really? Thanks!" Leigh replied, warming up to Nick.
"So have you ever had a boyfriend before?" Nick asked, after hearing the song.
"Oh, um, not really." Leigh replied.
Nick smiled at her "That's cool, I've dated a few people, but nothing serious."
Leigh smiled back, but she was utterly embarrassed.
Nick noticed this and hoped he hadn't spoiled the date, before it even began.
