"THE 2005 PEAS PROJECT"

People Ending Abuse Say...

January 18, 2005

Press Release : Moonlit Lily Media, Murphy, NC

For Immediate Release :

"THE 2005 PEAS PROJECT"

I am pleased to announce the beginning of "The 2005 PEAS Project - PEOPLE ENDING ABUSE SAY..." , A website dedicated to the absolute necessity of ending Domestic Violence. The purpose behind "The 2005 PEAS Project" is to become a forum so you can share your ideas on how you, if you were President, would end ALL abuse.

Since I am an abuse survivor (June 26, 2003 assaulted by an abusive, now ex, boyfriend), I have designed a website, www.surviveabuse.com, where I tell my story of abuse and how I am turning my lemon into lemonade.

Did you know that you may be eligible for a FREE MAKEOVER to erase signs of your abuse ? You may even be able to get your abuser's name, the one you had tatooed on your ankle that night in a love stupor, removed free. And, if you're missing or have a cracked front tooth, compliments of your abuser, you may get them repaired for free.

The basic requirement is you have to actually leave your abuser, and stay away from them for at minimum of one year. These programs are sponsored by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (www.ncadv.org). Visit my website at www.surviveabuse.com and read about my transformation.

I wish to invite everyone, from professional therapists, talk show gurus like Oprah, Dr. Phil, Ellen and Montel, actual survivors or just anyone with a great suggestion, to send me an email and I will post it, assuming it's "G" rated, here on "The 2005 PEAS Project" webpage.

E-mail your ideas to PeasProject@surviveabuse.com

"PEOPLE ENDING ABUSE SAY..."

I will start with this suggestion :

1. Start a searchable internet database containing all the names of convicted abusers. Before dating a new person, we could log onto our computer and search for their name. If it's on the list, run, don't walk, as fast as you can away from them. It could save your life.

We could name the site www.Iwantfacts.org...an acronym for "I Want A National Tracking For Abusers Convicted, Threatening Society."

I got the idea of a database from the female police officer that was my contact after my assault. She actually said to me, "If you women wouldn't date men like this, you wouldn't get hurt." I was astonished that "my sister" would actually try to place blame on me for dating someone who showed no signs of abuse when we met.

So how would you spot an abuser ? You can't. Let's share our ideas and actually put them to use. If you have time to send internet jokes, you have time to post a short message to help end abuse.

It's the least you can do.

Thank you, in advance, for your participation in this project.

Sherrian Floyd
