Derrick Rose Might Return This Year
Topic: Sports

Derrick Rose had successful knee surgery and may return to the Chicago Bulls this season. His damaged meniscus was removed rather than repaired. With a removal, as opposed to a repair, the rehab is much quicker.  Derrick could be back as soon as 4-6 weeks.  That's when his body will be healed, but the issue seemed to be the mind during his past recuperations.  He has been cleared to play after knee injuries in the past, but has chosen to miss the rest of NBA seasons to get his mind right.   Will he be back in 4-6 weeks, or will he need more time for mental reasons...time will reveal.

Derrick Rose Injured -- Again!
Topic: Sports

It's been reported that Derrick Rose has injured his right knee, and will miss the rest of the season.  The injury is to his right knee's meniscus -- his second such injury to that knee.  When Rose has surgery it will be his third knee surgery since 2012.

Holyfield Robbed Of 5th Title -- More Boxing Corruption?

SubjectHOLYFIELD ROBBED OF 5TH TITLE -- MORE BOXING CORRUPTION?

BodyBoxing has a history of curious/corrupt judging decisons due to shady backroom deals. Moments ago was yet another example of bad judging leaving one to wonder about the corruption factor in this fight and in the sport. Evander Holyfield --a 46 year-old man who was given no chance of victory-- called up what skills he had left to outbox a plodding Russian giant (Nikolai Valuev). SI.Com scored the fight overwhelmingly for Holyfield. Yet, when the scorecards were read, yet another boxer had been robbed by nefarious judging.

I watch a sport program in Chicago every week on CLTV called 'Sports Page.' A frequent guest on the show is boxing promoter Bobby Hitz, who makes no secret of his dislike for boxing's rival sport: Mixed martial arts (MMA). When asked why MMA is so popular now while boxing is in decline, he frequently says that he doesn't know why because he doesn't see the excitement in quick fights with guys wrestling on the ground. I like both sports --boxing and mma-- and I do agree with Bobby that boxing is more exciting. However, I see one big reason for the switch from boxing to mixed martial arts for fan and network dollars alike. That reason is judging (i.e.fight climax).

A good fight, whether in boxing or mma, builds drama and carries the hopes and aspirations of fans for their favorite warrior. Even if a fan doesn't have a favorite in the fight, a good fight begs for a good decision when judging is involved. That fight becomes tainted, and actually deflating, when you see a fighter clearly win a battle, only to have shady characters at ringside take it away. In all but one of the UFC, Pride, and Elite-XC mma fights that I've ever seen, the fighter who clearly won the fight also got the decision. Whether your fighter comes out on top or not, in mma you can see who's winning and the judges see it too. In boxing it doesn't matter who's winning the fight. It only seems to matter who the powers that be want to win.

Besides the current robbery of Evander Holyfield, boxing's history is littered with bad judging decisions. I will never forget the robbery of Pernell Whitaker when he fought Julio Cesar Chavez. Pernell won every round and got a draw. In an earlier fight, that same Julio Cesar Chavez got a gift when the referee stopped a fight that he was losing to Meldrick Taylor with seconds left. I could go on listing bad decisions back to the days of Ali, and that's the sad point. Boxing has shot itself in the foot with a history of shady scoring, and it continues...

Boxing powers that be heed this warning: Clean up your sport before mixed martial arts cleans you out.

NBA...Bring Back The Legends

SubjectNBA...BRING BACK THE LEGENDS GAME!!!

BodyNBA All-Star Weekend has really fallen off in terms of excitement and drama.; with the exception of the 3-Point Competition, the Rookie Challenge against the second year players, and the actual all-star game itself.

The dunk contest is a pale shell of its former self. Back in the day you had yearly rivalries involving the game's top dunkers.: Michael Jordan! Dominique Wilkins! Spud Webb! Clyde Drexler! Larry Nance...and on and on and on. Now the game's top dunkers dunk donuts rather than dunk against each other. Why aren't Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Steve Francis, Lebron James and others stepping up to the challenge??? The dunk contest with its yearly collection of little known players is a joke! Add to that the boring Shooting Stars and Skills Challenge competitions, and there's really little reason to watch.

The solution is to bring back the NBA Legends Game. Back in the day legends played games against each other on All-Star Weekend. Games that were exciting! NBA wake up! Scrap the crap and bring our NBA greats back to us! There's no shortage of talent: Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Chris Mullin, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Mark Price, Reggie Miller, Mitch Richmond...there's even room for Steve Kerr, Kenny "The Jet" Smith, and Sir Charles Barkley! BRING BACK THE LEGENDS GAME! BRING BACK THE EXCITEMENT! BRING BACK THE REAL ALL-STARS FOR ALL-STAR WEEKEND!!!

The Chicago Cubs: Content To Be Worst Instead Of First

SubjectTHE CHICAGO CUBS: CONTENT TO BE WORST INSTEAD OF FIRST?

BodyWhat Jim Hendry and Chicago Cubs have done on the Northside is a disgrace! The franchise has a history of bone headed baseball moves (i.e. the Lou Brock trade), but let me focus on recent times. Jim Hendry has dismantled the pieces that made the 2003..team successful. He got rid of Kenny Lofton (the first real lead-off man in years), Moises Alou, Todd Walker, Mark Grudzielanek, and Matt Clement (who was obtained by trading away Dontrell Willis). ..Dusty Baker has been fired. Add to that the loss of Sammy Sosa; and the yearly pinning of hopes on busts like the always injured Kerry Wood, and Mark "The Underachiever" Prior. With all the subtractions of talent, Hendry has done VERY LITTLE to replenish the team... Cub fans deserve much better! We've waited long enough for a quality team to be assembled on the Northside, and for the end of the Billy Goat Curse! If Dusty was fired,..Hendry should have beaten him out the door!
