THE NEW YORK CITY TOY FIGURE MAKERS

In the late 1940s New York City bustled with activity. Plastic was one of the new exciting products and toy companies making toys out of plastic sprouted like weeds. Most of these companies including toy giant Louis Marx Inc had offices in the "TOY BUILDING" on 5th avenue. Many of the smaller companies shared mold makers and sculpters so it is sometimes hard to tell who made what. Lido was well know for their willingness to wholesale product to other makers further clouding the water as to the origin of some of the belove toys from the 1950s. Everybody also seemed to copy anything successful so we will probably never sort out everything. Please use the above links to access identification guides.
