Chapter 23

When I woke up, Nick was awake and playing Nintendo with AJ. Nick won.
“YES!! I beat you again, Bone!” He cheered.
“Yeah, ‘cause I keep on letting you!” AJ protested.
“Whatever!” Nick grinned I got up, climbed down the ladder, and walked to the closed door at the end of the bus. I opened it quietly and was relieved to see Jessie asleep. Carefully I picked up my bag of entertainment and left. Once I was up on Nick’s bunk again, I hooked up my portable speakers to my disc man and blared my NSync CD. Every BSB looked up horrified. Brian dropped to the floor and pretended to choke, Nick dove under Kevin’s bunk(under Howie’s), Howie hid under Brian’s blankets, AJ backed away holding up his crucifix necklace, and Kevin’s eyes were wide with terror.
“Turn it off! Can’t -- listen -- to the -- enemy!” Brian choked from the floor.
“Chill guys!” I turned off the music.
“Enough jokes, Megan,” AJ laughed.
“C’mon! You guys were funny!” I giggled.
“See how funny this is!” AJ cried and dove for my legs(I had climbed off Nick’s bunk by then), tripping me. Howie jumped out from under the covers and dove on me.
“Hey! She’s MY girlfriend, guys!” Nick laughed as he dove onto Howie. Brian grinned and jumped on Nick. We all yelped. Kevin looked at us for awhile until his serious exterior crumbled and he joined in. We all laughed and squirmed, making a whole lot of noise. Denise and Jan came out of their room to see what the noise was about. They gasped at the wonderful mess of sons, their son’s friends, and their son’s girlfriend(for Jane only) at the bottom, all in a dog-pile. We were all trying to get away at once and none of us were succeeding. Jessie peeked out of the room. She really wished she could join in but... but what? She ran up and jumped in. We all stopped for a moment to look up at her but immediately started struggling again.
Eventually I wiggled out from under AJ and crawled away. Jessie gave me a pleading look and I helped her away.
“I’m really sorry,” I said to her.
“S’ok, I overreacted. I’m sorry, too,” she replied. We agreed to be friends again and hugged.
“Wow! That really made me want it bad, if you know what I mean.” I whispered to her. “I’m gonna get Nick and go to our room.”
“You mean you’re gonna...? You’ve hardly been together for half a week!” she whispered back.
“So? It happens all the time!”
“Whatever, I’ll seeya later.”
I walked over to the guys. “HOLD IT!” I shouted. Everyone froze and I bent down and whispered in Nick’s ear. He nodded and wriggled away. We walked back to my room.
