Yes, Buzzsawyer appeared in the latest issue of Rolling Stone (RS916, 2/20/03). In an article on the Top Ten College Towns for music, Chapel Hill was #4 and Buzzsawyer was listed under "Bands on the Rise". Local 506 was mentioned as well. They described us as "steel-clad seventies standard-bearers." Huh? Hey, we'll take it. I'll scan and post it as soon as I get my hands on a copy, right after I go to the steel clothing store and practice up on my Zeppelin.
UPDATE: Here's the article. Thanks to whoever is currently employed as scanner operater over at the Local 506.

Unconfirmed reports say that Buzzsawyer has been mentioned in the very latest issue of a little zine called Rolling Stone! It could be an elaborate, sick joke, but we'll keep you posted when we get to the bottom of this thing.
Check the shows page for a few weekenders in February and March and a tour looping around the South, Midwest, and Northeast for about 12 days in April. We'll most likely be touring out West in August.
Other than that, a few new songs are being added to the set list. In comp land we'll be on "Beta Motherfuckers" (a Turbonegro tribute) and a New York Dolls tribute. More info on that later.
12/18/02
Well, here you have it, the last Buzzsawyer news of 2002. And the news is: we still have no record deal. Well there's always next year. Don't fret though, we're still slapping together the fastest selling/giving-away-free CD "Cheap Voltage" so get them while they last, or until our hands get tired.
What to expect from Buzzsawyer next year? More new songs, more mind-blowing/P.A. blowing live performances (that don't blow), and a new website, yes a NEW website! www.buzzsawyer.net has been purchased, and will feature a whole new look and cooler features! Sidenote: we were going to include a page w/ pictures of all the groupies we banged this year, but there simply isn't room. Not because there were alot- but because they were all so big.
That's all for 2002! Check us out on the winter tour, sign the damn guestbook, and we'll see you next year!
12/10/02
Well gollll-y. I haven't updated this in a while. Here's what's been happening: We're currently trying to get some practice in despite power outages in the greater North Carolina area. We're writing some new songs so we don't have the same old shit to take on tour with us - and that tour will be around Xmas and New Years in VA, MD, PA, WVA, and OH - all dates are posted.
If you're looking for somewhere to party on New Years Eve why not Frostburg, MD? For a mere $20 you get all you can eat and drink at Gandalf's. And last time we were there they opened up the bar so you could just go around and serve yourself whatever they had available. And you can stay at the Hotel Gunter a couple doors down, which is a classy upscale place for Motel 6 prices. Then you can go to the Princess diner for hangover, a classy old diner with Waffle House prices. Frostburg rules.
We recorded "Babylon" for a New York Dolls tribute and sent that out. More info on that like release date, etc, when we get it.
Since Xmas is coming, why not get in the holiday spirit of shopping by buying our merch for your loved ones? They'll love you forever. We just got 100 new copies of "Cheap Voltage" in, plus about 200,000 of the fastest selling medium of all time: the 7 inch. And there's T-Shirts and some other stuff. Check out the merch page. Merry xmas.

THANKS TO EVERYONE who helped us out on tour. The list is too long to print and but we ran into more generous people out there than we deserved, who gave us money for no reason, hooked us up with the big shows, let us sleep in their bars and houses, fed us and showed us a good time in their cities without the slightest hesitation. ALL you kind people deserve more than a sticker and a CD so if you're ever in Chapel Hill, look us up and we'll try to do the same for you. THANKS!
Check out the shows page - we got a few coming up on the home base including a show with one of our favorite bands... Speedealer!
In addition to the local gigs, we're going to spend a couple months doing East Coast weekenders and writing some new shit. There will be some news ahead on the compilation front but I hesitate to announce anything yet as money's tight in the rock n roll business and things often go awry. Think New York Dolls, Turbonegro, and Fistful of Rock n Roll Volume 13 real hard for us and maybe something magical will happen.
In overdue news: Buzzsawyer is one word!!!! The print on our disc might suggest otherwise as the dipshits at Vertigo Disc in Marietta, GA fucked it up and never called us back when we left a message asking for an explanation. Bad service in the music bidness! Noooo way!!
8/23/02
We're leaving for tour tonight-A! First stop: Wilmington. If your in one of those towns we're playing, please come by and drink with us! It'll be a guaranteed good time.
We got a lot of good reviews of the new CD, 'Cheap Voltage'. Check out the BIO page for that shit.
Tickets are still on sale for Gearfest. If you want to see the best in American/Scandanavian Rock n Roll, (Highlights, New Bomb Turks, Syl Sylvain of New York Dolls, Lazy Cowgirls, ILCK II, Gaza Strippers, Dragons, and on and on), check out gearheadrecords.com and see about getting tickets. I hear Austin, TX is a great place to be.
See you at the show!
8/9/02
We're in preparation for the longest Buzzsawyer tour to date. We'll be hitting 25 cities and doing 28 shows in 30 days around the country. Big Red is locked, stocked and loaded, and come August 23rd, we will be too. We'll be hitting the North, the South, the Atlantic and the Pacific, the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains and Great Lakes, the downtowns and small towns and hometowns. Bring beer, bring food, be in the mood.
We've had a few inquiries into our rhythm guitar player situation. For now, we're going to remain a 3 piece. It's easier, more stripped down, one less asshole, and people tell us we sound better that way.
Angie Carlson gave us a great review in The Independent, the local Chapel Hill alt-weekly. Check it out here.
7/12/02
We had to cancel five of six shows of the July tour due to a death in the family. We'll see ya next time around!
WE ARE STILL PLAYING TONIGHT at the Local 506 with ANTiSEEN and Malcolm XXX. Get out of the house for some rock n wrestling mayhem!
The summer U.S. tour is coming together with a little of the inevitable re-routing and stuff. Keep checking for more confirmed dates. We're getting some merch together for that one.
6/20/02
TOUR NEWS: Our week-long July run is coming up soon, with the feature shows being the 4th at Gandalf's and the big Heavy Rebel Weekender. Who knows? We may just be selling some new CDs. Then August 23rd to September 27th we'll be touring much more of the USA, hitting such far-away lands as the Lone Star State, the Dust Bowl, the West Coast, the Rockies, the Midwest, the Northeast, and of course the South. As always, check the SHOWS page for more info!
MERCHANDISING: The new 8-song CD, self-titled but nick-named "Cheap Voltage" will be on sale here and at shows, of course, soon. In pre-production is a new line of Buzzsawyer summer fashion... you and your beer will thank us.
5/29/02
CD NEWS: promotional/demo copies of the new 8-song CD are now being manufactured. Stay tuned for when sale copies will be available. People have been emailing us about "Thrillsville" due to favorable reviews, but the new CD blows that old shit away.
SHOW NEWS: Due to some misfortune with the law of some sort, the Regal Beegle Records 4th of July show has been moved from the Regal Beegle to Gandalf's in Frostburg, MD. Sucks it can't be at the Beegle, but hey, Gandalf's is always a good time. The tour surrounding that show is looking good, and we have a couple shows coming up in June in Virginia that you should check out.
RADIO NEWS: Thanks to Elizabeth at WXCY 89.3 FM, Chapel Hill for putting us on the radio. On Sunday May 26 we interviewed and spun some songs off the new CD on the "Backyard BBQ" which is a local music show that's on Sundays at 7pm.
PERSONNEL NEWS: We don't have a new guitarist or any leads on one, but we're still rockin' as a 3-piece, and a lot of people like us better that way.
5/2/02
Yes we are finally back in action after the month long hiatus because of Matt's hernia surgery. He's in tip top condition, or at least he was until he fucked up his kick drum ankle playing basketball. But that didn't stop us from playing at King's to a sell-out crowd with a celebrity appearance by Eric from Dragstrip Syndicate.
TOUR NEWS: July we'll be doing a week long jaunt up the east coast to get to and fro the 2nd Annual Regal Beegle 4th of July Bash! We're hoping it'll be as fun as last year, but with those Bedford guys, it's always a good time. And a band feauturing not one but two Wigfields will be making their debut - BEAVER! There will be a big tour in August/September - look out for dates for that later.
FEST NEWS: We were lucky enough to be invited to play at the first American Gearfest, put on by Mike Lavella and Gearhead Magazine, to be held at Emo's in Austin, TX, August 30, 31 and Sept. 1. The year 2002 is going to set our all time record for fests. In January it was Dave Quick's Elvis Fest at the 506, Sleazefest West in February in San Fran. The Saturday show at King's was the "Rock n Roll Over Fest". The aforementioned 7/4 Regal Beegle fest is going to be a fest and a half. Two days following that will be the much anticipated Heavy Rebel Weekender in Winston-Salem, NC July 5, 6, & 7. And then in August it's back to Chapel Hill with the REAL Sleazefest. So that's 7 fests this year...and counting.
RECORDING NEWS: We are still in the studio trying to get the damn CD done. Hopefully it will be done by the end of this week, then it'll be another couple weeks of getting it manufactured. It's by far the best thing we've ever recorded. We'll keep you posted as copies become available.
PERSONNEL NEWS: Big news is that Buzzsawyer is currently a 3-piece. Jeff left the band to study to become a Buddhist monk in the Cary Meditation and Spooky Chanting Center.
3/21/02
Sleazefest rocked, and our 10 day run with the Needles rocked as well. Fun fun fun.
We're going into the studio tonight to lay down some never-before-recorded tracks for a demo and/or EP we'll be putting out in CDR format. I'll have a track listing and info on how you can get yours on here as soon as it's available.
In web page news, we'll be adding some press reviews, a new bio, and some new pics within the week. A complete site revamp is in the early, early, early stages.
Matt was interviewed by Duct Tape Drummer. This is a website put together by Bo of Billy Joe Winghead. I dig it! Click here for the interview.
And finally, we'll be on a small hiatus from playing shows because Matt has to go under the knife and will be in some pain for the next several weeks. Please send money, cards, pain killers, food and beer. We should be back in action by May...
2/13/02
Tomorrow we are flying out to San Francisco, CA to spend the weekend at Sleazefest West. We got the coveted opening slot on Sunday at 4:30pm, so if you're in town, see to it that you take care of that hangover so you can come early and get yer balls and/or tits rocked off. We'll be armed with a FREE lo-fi, 5-song demo, so talk to us and pick one up if you're there this weekend.
Sometime after we get back from San Fran, we'll be recording a yet another demo that we'll be trying to get on the radio and whatnot. More on that later...
Then from there is our March East Coast tour with one of the best NC bands we've met down here, The Needles. We have confirmed dates in Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, Frostburg, Hollidaysburg, and other burgs. Keep looking back at the shows page for a complete list.
Supposedly we have a good review in the latest issue of RideBMX magazine. I haven't found that anywhere but if anyone knows where I can pick up a copy or can send me a Xerox of that article, email me at buzzsawyer666@hotmail.com
We're planning on putting up a lyrics page sometime soon on this some-bitch so keep an eyeball out for that.
Other than that, I hope everyone gets laid on Valentine's Day and we'll see ya in San Fran!
1/10/02
Happy New Year... We had a great time down at Gandalf's in Frostburg this New Year's Eve doing a show with Dragstrip Syndicate and partying and all that shit.
Frostburg, incidentally is the home of Regal Beegle Records, (see the front page link) a new label that put out the 4-song 7" for us and are working their asses off for us. They are also putting out a 7" for Wilmington, NC's The Needles. RBR's website is in the developing stages but keep checking back for the latest.
Sleazefest West in San Francisco will be held at the Bottom of the Hill, so check out their calender for a full roster. We'll be playing on Sunday, but hanging out all weekend.
Matt's always working hard on new gigs for us so keep looking at the SHOWS page. The March eastcoast weeklong tour is ironing out so keep checking back for some more confirmations.
12/14/01
We're heading up north for a weeklong run around St. Patrick's Day. Keep clicking back for a complete list of confirmed dates which should be posted in the near future.
12/5/01
First point of order: ELVISFEST IS COMING! Yes sir, Dave Quick (who is also partially responsible for The Heavy Rebel Weekender) puts on this annual tribute to the King, and we have the honor of joining bands such as Baltimore's Twin 6, Leadfoot, Jimmy & the Teasers, the Needles, TCB and more on January 4th in celebration of Elvis's 67th birthday (which falls on January 8).
Second point of order: SLEAZEFEST WEST! Once a year ain't enough! For the first time ever, the party takes place in San Francisco for three days of staggering drunken madness at the Bottom of the Hill (? i think) on the weekend of Feb. 15-17. Buzzsawyer will be flying out to spend the weekend and play on Sunday, Feb. 17. Stay tuned for more details on bands playing, where it definately is, and all that important shit.
Court adjourned.
11/21/01
We just had a mule-bootin' show on Saturday 11/17 in Norfolk, VA at Cogan's with Dragstrip Syndicate. We'll definately be returning to Norfolk in the future! Thanks to Laura the Elvis freak for her hospitality.
Tons of shows coming up, including a bunch in January which will be posted next week or so.
AND DONT FORGET. SATURDAY NOV. 30 is the big show at LOCAL 506 with LAZY COWGIRLS and ANTiSEEN. Don't miss that shit!
Stay tuned for some WEST COAST news coming when more of the details are ironed out. I'm out like my fuckin beer belly.
Happy Turkey Day!
10/11/01
I added a ton of pics to this page today. Some are from two months ago, some are from two years ago. Here's a little incentive: one of them has boobs in it, but I won't tell you which one. You gotta look at 'em all.
We're trying to get into the habit of putting photos up from every single show from here on out. So show up and you might just get your face, ass, or boobs plastered up for everyone to see. If you have any from old shows, send 'em!
Check out the shows page for a couple of rockin' ones coming up. On Oct. 26th we'll be returning to the Local 506 (now under new management and lookin' purty) with Leadfoot and the Clones: my 2 favorite rock bands in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Then on Nov. 20th we'll be playing at the 506 with none other than Lazy Cowgirls and Antiseen!! Fuck yeah!
Congratulations to our bud John "Cut the Cheese" Flude for making the cut as new bass player of one of the best bands on the east coast, Dragstrip Syndicate. Yay!
8/23/01
Little monthly update here. Sleazefest 2001 was, of course, incredible. Nothing but a good time. As some of you know, it might be the last one held at the Local 506 since Dave and Monica are stepping down after 10 years there. We wanna give a HUGE THANKS to these extremely cool individuals who helped us yankees out in the past year more than we could have imagined anyone would. You got our respect. THANKS!
Also, we'll keep ya updated on tour dates. We go out around Sept. 20, but we'll let you know the rest in the upcoming weeks.
There are some new pics up. Take a looksee. Next week or something I will have a re-done merch page, which will have images of all the merchandise on there for a better e-shopping experience.
7/10/01
We got back from tour Sunday night and we had a blast. Thanks to everyone who put us up and put up with us. Check for September west coast dates soon.
THE BUZZSAWYER 4-SONG 7 INCH IS OUT NOW ON REGAL BEEGLE RECORDS!! The guys at RBR are working their asses off to support this record, so help them and us out and buy one! As always, check the merchandise page for details on how you can order one.
We got new T-Shirts. I'll put pics of them up soon on the merchandise page so you can see how badass they are. So far we have L, XL, M and we're working on some girlie tees.

Buzzsawyer is appearing on Volume 13 of Teepee Records' Fistful of Rock 'n' Roll, thee most awsome collection of current high energy rock 'n' roll bands put together by Sal Canzonieri of Electric Frankenstein. Numero 13, which also features Columbus flatlanders The New Bomb Turks and Northwest bad asses The Makers will be out later in 2001.
Being the last day of 2000, a metamophosizing year for the band, in which we spent most of our time in a cocoon moving south, making up songs and recording, Buzzsawyer would like to announce a flame-under-the-ass, full-force, king-hell onslaught of highpowered rock in 2001 which will include relentless TOURING, a shitload of NEW MATERIAL and the most energetic, insane shows we've ever played. We ain't fuckin around anymore, kids. So stay tuned, stay drunk, and STAY HUNGRY.
