Curriculum Standards This Computer Animation course is high school level, open to any 10th, 11th and 12th grader who has completed the required freshman Studio Art class. The course meets all 4 of New York State's standards for Fine Arts curricula: Standard 1: Creating, Performing, and Participating in the Arts. Computer Animation is a hands-on class where students use the medium of the computer to create works of visual art. Standard 2: Knowing and Using Arts Materials and Resources. This course is an introduction to the (relatively) new medium of the computer; and the Webquest ties it into the Internet, the final destination for Animation products and an unlimited source of information about Animation. Standard 3: Responding to and Analyzing Works of Art. Students will also develop a critical eye for which projects are more successful and why. Standard 4: Understanding
the Cultural Contributions of the Arts. Since the curriculum
concentrates on producing interactive informational graphics, students
will develop an understanding of animation as the creation of
aesthetically pleasing but practical or utilitarian graphics.
Information gathering and dissemination are hallmarks of early 21st
century American culture and our visual literacy entails more than
simple contemplation of aesthetically pleasing objects.
