DEEP PURPLE COLLECTION VOL. 3

FRIENDS INTRODUCTION

Spotlight on Rukawa here. He goes home looking exhausted (no idea if this scene is a direct continuation of vol. 2, though). He goes straight to his bed, and, after lying on it doing nothing but stare at the ceiling, grabs the telephone in his room and dial… Sendoh's number. Hehehe. Sendoh isn't home, though. Rukawa throws the cordless phone away and then strips himself to take a shower. Nice pictures of a wet and naked Rukawa once again. ^o^ He begins to remember the kisses he and Sendoh shared in the shower. Beautiful monologue by Rukawa here. At last, the light is shed on why the doujinshi is called "Deep Purple".

FRIENDS #1

At Sendoh's dorm... Sendoh is sleeping. There is a box of tissue and a medical kit lying around the place. He wakes up quite late, and the first thing that comes to his mind is Rukawa. ^^ Here, we find out that Koshino has gone to visit his grandmother. Ah-ha!!! The pest is away at last!!! Rejoice, rejoice!!! ^___^ Sendoh looks at his wounded hand for a moment.

Just then, the door opens. Rukawa comes into the room --- either Sendoh has forgotten to lock it yet again or Rukawa has a key to his dorm. The latter sounds better, doesn't it? ^o^ Rukawa tells him not to stay at home all the time doing nothing. Sendoh is surprised to see Rukawa there and he sits himself up, his hands supporting him. Slight pain from his hand. Rukawa invites him to go out (to play basketball). Actually, it's more of an order. ^^;; Sendoh, who is totally whipped by Rukawa, can't do anything but follow his prince's command. He tells Rukawa to give him a moment to prepare.

They go out of the house. Sendoh thinks to himself that Rukawa is acting like nothing happened between them. Sendoh comments that Rukawa looks strong and asks him if he has recovered from his injuries. Rukawa confirms this. Sendoh thinks that there is nothing but basketball in Rukawa's mind. Flashback as to what happened the day before…

The two are sitting beside the bed in Sendoh's dorm. Perhaps, this is the scene right after the hot kiss in the shower. Rukawa tells Sendoh that he wants "to play". Sendoh is shocked. Hentai Sendoh is blushing. Maybe he has misunderstood Rukawa's words as something else. ^^;; Rukawa tells him that he hasn't touched a ball all day. LOL! Stop with these hentai thoughts… I meant a basketball. ^^;; Sendoh is still blushing. Rukawa asks him what is wrong. Sendoh tells him it's nothing. Sendoh comments that there is nothing but basketball in Rukawa's mind. Rukawa says it's all he has. Awww. Without basketball, he has nothing left. Sendoh is speechless. After a few moments, he asks Rukawa if he wants to go to the beach, but that there's probably no train anymore at that hour. He says that they should go somewhere where they can get on foot. Rukawa doesn't answer. Sendoh falls asleep after a few moments on Rukawa's shoulder. End of flashback.

Sendoh finds himself standing before a hospital building. He thinks that it's Rukawa who's going to seek medical treatment. He tells Rukawa that he's just going to wait for him at McDonald's because hospitals give him goosebumps. ^^;; Rukawa grabs Sendoh's hand like a kid and forces him to come inside with him because he wants Sendoh to see a doctor (for his wound). Sendoh insists that the wound is nothing serious and that he didn't bring his insurance card. Rukawa informs him that the doctor is a friend of his father's. Sendoh says that he's allergic to the smell of antiseptic. What a big baby! Still, he's adorable. ^_^

They go inside to meet the doctor. Small talk where the doctor asks Rukawa about his father, who is working overseas. Blah-blah, nothing important, really. ^_^ Rukawa eventually tells the doctor to look at Sendoh's wound, saying that Sendoh got injured because of him.

Later, they are eating in a none too fancy restaurant. There are lots of small restaurants like this in Japan, but I don't know what they are called. Anyway, Sendoh thanks Rukawa for taking him to the clinic. Rukawa tells him that it's not for Sendoh, he just doesn't want to feel guilty. Ouch. Sendoh tells him that he shouldn't say it's his fault that he got injured. Rukawa orders cold noodles for the second time (he eats it so much now since it's only available during autumn). He asks Sendoh if he can stay at Sendoh's dorm that night. Of course, Sendoh obliges. Rukawa tells him that it's because his cousin's boyfriend is staying over at their house and that they are getting married soon. His cousin is a hentail. LOL!!! Rukawa also tells Sendoh that his cousin wants to see Sendoh again. Sendoh reflects on what will happen to Rukawa when his cousin gets married.

Afterwards, they go to the park to play basketball. Actually, Rukawa plays while Sendoh sits there, watching him. Sendoh reminds Rukawa not to exert himself too much. While looking on to his sweetheart, Sendoh asks himself why Rukawa never smiles. He remembers the time when Rukawa told him that he doesn't like it when he smiles for no reason. Rukawa must have seen right through Sendoh's hentai thoughts everytime he smiles. LOL!

A girl approaches Sendoh. Argh, another admirer of Rukawa's. Sendoh calls out to Rukawa and tells him that there's a girl waiting to speak to him. He grabs the ball from Rukawa. Rukawa approaches the blushing girl (accompanied by her two friends). They speak for a while, and then Rukawa points to Sendoh and walks away. Hahahaha!!! Another rejection! Sendoh asks him if it's a classmate from Shohoku, but Rukawa doesn't care at all. Sendoh pities the girl.

Rukawa asks Sendoh to return the ball to him. But Sendoh doesn't hand it over and instead challenges Rukawa for a one-on-one.

Just then, the girl's friends return to confront Rukawa. The girls berate Rukawa for rejecting their friend right away, and so carelessly at that. Sendoh defends Rukawa and tells them that Rukawa just doesn't express himself too well. The girls inform Sendoh that he is at fault, too, because Rukawa told their friend that he and Sendoh are going steady. LOL!!! Sendoh is surprised. Rukawa walks away.

At Sendoh's dorm. Sendoh asks Rukawa if they are indeed going steady. ^^ Rukawa tells him that it was Sendoh who taught him this method of rejection (remember what happened in vol. 1?). Rukawa says that he doesn't like women/troubles/noisiness/lies. Sendoh asks, "what about men?" Rukawa replies that he doesn't know. Sendoh says, "Shall we try?"

Sendoh kisses Rukawa. He goes on to say that he only does this kind of thing with Rukawa. Rukawa pulls away, commenting how hot it is and that he likes to take a bath first. Sendoh is hit by the realization that something might very well happen between them that night.

While Rukawa takes his shower, Sendoh thinks that things are happening very fast between them. "Is it really possible? Rukawa is a man." Hmmm… it seems that our beloved seme is having some second thoughts.

Rukawa asks for a pair of shorts. Sendoh hands it to him and says that he's taking a bath as well. Before he steps into the shower, Rukawa grabs a plastic bag and puts it around Sendoh's bandaged hand. Sendoh is puzzled by this, but Rukawa does it so Sendoh won't wet his wound. Sendoh gazes at Rukawa's face, marveling at how beautiful he is. Out of the blue, he comments that Rukawa wore his shorts wrongly. LOL!!!

Sendoh asks himself what he is hesitating about. Stepping out of the bathroom, he approaches Rukawa (who is reading a magazine but seems to be napping instead). Now this is a funny and cute scene. He gives Rukawa a gentle kiss, and says that it's the first time he's doing it with a man, and that he doesn't know if doing it is something he'll regret in the future. Rukawa tells him that there are no regrets for him. Sendoh asks him why. Rukawa replies that they have done it before, so there is really nothing to talk about. Sendoh is confused, what the heck is Rukawa talking about? Rukawa tells him that they have kissed before in front of Sakuragi.

Hentai Sendoh can't believe his ears! Rukawa is talking about the kiss? Sendoh marvels at Rukawa's innocence, more so when he realizes that Rukawa isn't joking. He controls his laughter and hugs the clueless Rukawa instead, saying, "you're so adorable!" Sendoh tells him that he has never met a person as innocent as Rukawa. Well, Sendoh, I think Rukawa isn't really THAT innocent, it's just that you're such a HENTAI!!!

Next, we see them lying on the bed. Sendoh is lying on his back, his arms cradling his head. Rukawa is lying on his stomach, reading a sports magazine. Sendoh contemplates Rukawa's birthday and the fact that Rukawa is only 15. ^^

Suddenly, Rukawa closes his magazine and lays his head on Sendoh's chest. ^o^ Sendoh blushes. Rukawa comments that Sendoh's heart is beating very fast. Sendoh makes up a lousy excuse and tells him that it's his normal heartbeat. *rolls eyes* Rukawa tells him that it's the first time he has listened to anyone's heartbeat. KYA!!!! Sendoh pulls Rukawa closer to him, and they fall asleep this way. I can't put into words how adorable this scene is. It's one of my favorites in DP!!! ^^

Sendoh thinks to himself how unexplainable feelings start to rise in him whenever Rukawa is close to him, and how it becomes stronger as time passes. For the first time he's been with Rukawa, he finally admits to himself that he LIKES Rukawa. T_T

FRIENDS #2

Sendoh and Rukawa are still asleep. Nice view of their legs completely entangled with each other. WAH!!! XD But wait… do my eyes deceive me??? Is that Koshino opening the door to Sendoh's dorm???????????????

The pest has returned. So we don't get to see a sweet scene between the two waking up in each other's arms, sharing a good morning kiss??? I knew it was too good to be true. T_T

Heh, I'm not the only one screaming in frustration here. Koshino also lets out a surprised scream at seeing the two sleeping together on the bed. Sendoh wakes up groggily. He pulls out his arm which was cradling Rukawa's head, and experiences a nasty hand cramp. LOL! Koshino is mumbling incoherently, "it's true, it's true… when did it start? I already guessed you were…" Sendoh asks him what the heck he is talking about. Koshino replies, "When you stole my first kiss." EH???

Rukawa's eyes open. Wordlessly, he gets up from the bed, puts on his pants, and walks out the door. Sendoh tries to speak out Rukawa's name, but Rukawa just tells him that he's going home.

When Rukawa has left, Sendoh turns to Koshino and makes him explain about the kiss. It turns out that it happened during the Ryonan team's New Year celebration. Everyone was roaring drunk. Uozumi called out, "Number 6 kiss number 3." Sendoh raised his arm, announcing that he's number 6. Koshino, of course, was number 3. Sendoh kissed him while the other members of the team tried to hold Koshino so he couldn't get away. *VOMIT*

Koshino tells Sendoh that a male taking his first kiss away is his life's biggest humiliation. Sendoh tells him that it was just a game anyway. Sendoh hugs Koshino to himself. It seems that he's trying to see if Koshino makes him feel what Rukawa makes him feel. Sendoh observes that his heartbeat is very normal so it looks like he doesn't really like men. Koshino tells him that it looks like he has already done it with Rukawa, with them sharing the bed like that. Sendoh tells him that they didn't do anything.

While the two are still locked in an embrace, Rukawa returns to the dorm. He has forgotten his bag and so he returns to get it. Sendoh curses to himself and tries to stop Rukawa from leaving again. Rukawa says, "I really don't understand you. Are you making a fool out of me?" GO, RUKAWA!!! Boy, I love Sendoh, but he deserves it. Sendoh is speechless. Rukawa walks away.

Sendoh and Koshino discuss what happened. Koshino asks Sendoh if he has ever thought about being gay before, but Sendoh just tells him that he doesn't need to explain himself. Koshino tells him that as a friend, he is only concerned about Sendoh. And as it seems that it is his fault that Rukawa left, Koshino decides to run after Rukawa. Very amusing image of Sendoh here clinging on Koshino's shirt, imploring him not to do it, for it will only make matters worse. Sendoh thinks the reason why Rukawa left is because Rukawa thinks Sendoh lied to him. Which is true. Manga cuts to Rukawa walking away from Sendoh's dorm. He looks back, remembering Sendoh's words about doing stuff only with him (kissing, being intimate, etc.) Rukawa only snorts at this and continues his walk home.

It begins to rain. Sendoh is sitting on his bed with a pillow on his lap, trying to explain things to Koshino. Koshino lectures Sendoh about the possibility of not going through with the relationship if they had only shared kisses at the moment, that is, it should be nothing serious yet. Sendoh asks why he can't go through with it just because Rukawa is a man? Blah blah… Koshino asks him why he caught them sleeping together on the bed, have they kissed, etc. Frustrated Sendoh can't help but cover his face with his pillow. Cute. ^o^ Koshino finally tells him that if he really likes Rukawa, then he will neither encourage nor discourage him about it. Koshino finally decides to leave. Sendoh tells him to take his umbrella since it is raining. Koshino reminds him to remember to lock the door to his dorm. Such a mother hen, this Koshino. Well, I'd prefer him as a mother hen than a possible love interest to Sendoh, that's for sure.

Alone at the dorm, Sendoh reflects. Here, we find out that he left his home to live in his father's company hostel. He thinks to himself how he has always seemed to escape from his problems. For the first time (in a long time), he is alone at his dorm and he begins to feel how such a small place can feel so big. He worries about how he's going to explain himself to Rukawa.

Hmmm… seems like our wonderful seme (who's not acting like a seme here exactly) has chickened out and only goes to look for Rukawa after three days. He phones Rukawa's house, using a public phone I should add, and finds out that Rukawa has attended a basketball training program. Ayako appears in the background, noticing Sendoh. Sendoh asks when Rukawa will return, but Rukawa's cousin doesn't have any idea when he'll be back. She asks Sendoh to come visit their home when Rukawa returns since she wants to speak to him about something.

Ayako approaches Sendoh and says hi. Sendoh doesn't remember who she is. Can you believe this guy? LOL!!! So adorably clueless. ^____^ Ayako asks him if he is looking for Rukawa. I just love how perceptive Ayako is. This is when Sendoh finally remembers that Ayako is Shohoku's team manager. Sendoh asks her if Shohoku is having some sort of practice because he called Rukawa's house and he isn't there. Ayako suddenly blurts out that the rumors about him and Rukawa are true after all. Sendoh is surprised. Sendoh asks if Rukawa is well-known in Shohoku. Biggest understatement of the year. Ayako tells Sendoh of her experiences with Rukawa.

One day, while going to practice, he noticed Rukawa wearing a Ryonan basketball school shirt! Rukawa hasn't noticed it at all, so she asked him to change his shirt right away. She goes on to tell that Rukawa has always been very popular with girls even in secondary school, but he has never given them the time of day. Ayako says she wasn't surprised at all in hearing about his relationship with Sendoh.

During secondary school, she also thought Rukawa was a girl and even prohibited him to enter the male changing room. Now that Rukawa is so tall, no one would mistake him for a girl. ^^

Sendoh asks Ayako if Rukawa has always been that way even back then… has he never smiled? Ryota enters the scene, and Ayako isn't able to answer the question. Jealous as ever, Ryota confronts Sendoh about what he is doing there talking to his girlfriend. Ayako hits him with her paper fan. Sendoh doesn't recognize Ryota at first (surprise, surprise), but soon finds out that Ryota is the new captain of the Shohoku team.

Ayako tells Ryota that they should hurry, or they will miss their show. Sendoh teases them about their date, but is confused because he thought Shohoku was having a practice. Ayako tells him that Rukawa is training somewhere else for the Japan team. Sendoh is surprised that Rukawa has made it there.

FRIENDS #3

Sendoh is training hard. Now that Rukawa is gone, he probably doesn't have any other worthwhile thing to do. ^^;;

At the training camp, Rukawa is packing his things. He pulls out a shirt with some stains in it. It's Sendoh's shirt. He remembers the time in the shower when Sendoh was holding him with his bleeding hand. At a laundry shop, a woman has offered to wash the stain away with bleach, but Rukawa told her that there's no need for it. Awww, Rukawa wants to keep it as it is. He also remembers the time when he last saw Sendoh (i.e., the Koshino incident). A boy (looking suspiciously like Nobunaga) interrupts his thoughts and tells him that the team has started to group together already. Rukawa puts the shirt inside his bag.

Back to Sendoh… Koshino catches up to him, and asks him what has happened with Rukawa. Koshino finds out that Sendoh did nothing, and he is puzzled why. Sendoh tells him not to worry about it. I don't know why Koshino is so interested in Sendoh's love affair, he should start minding his own business. -_-

Small shot of Rukawa in the train. He's on his way back to Kanagawa. He is sleeping, of course. Possibly dreaming of his reunion with Sendoh. ^____^

Sendoh is standing around in front of the clinic (the same clinic Rukawa made him go for his wounded hand). He looks very hesitant about going on. Oh, what a big baby!!! LOL!!! Ayako sees him and asks him what he is doing standing in front of her house. Sendoh finds out that the doctor is Ayako's father. ^^ Ayako mentions that Rukawa is coming back on that day. Sendoh is surprised. Ayako comments that Sendoh doesn't seem to know anything. She then asks Sendoh to enter the clinic.

Rukawa has returned. Two girls call out to him. They approach him to tell him a gossip concerning Sendoh. They begin to tell him that Sendoh is going steady with Shohoku's basketball manager and that they have seen them with their own eyes going to a clinic. The girl is probably pregnant and having a check-up. Rukawa ignores them.

Just then, Ayako appears and the two girls run away. Ayako asks Rukawa about the training program. Rukawa doesn't answer her. Ayako asks him what is wrong (did he believe what the girls just told him?). Rukawa asks Ayako if she is pregnant. LOL!!! Ayako covers his mouth in panic. Ayako tells him that she's not pregnant. Sendoh went to her house earlier that day to have his hand examined.

Ayako asks Rukawa if he has contacted Sendoh at all while he was having his training. Rukawa asks if there is a need for him to do something like that. Ayako says aren't they going steady? Ayako tells him that he really is a cold person and that Sendoh might be in a difficult situation going steady with a person like him. Rukawa remains conveniently silent.

Now this is a rather amusing scene. ^_^ Ayako asks him if they have kissed yet. No comment from Rukawa, which Ayako takes as a yes. She then asks if they have done anything more than kissing. Again, Rukawa doesn't answer. LOL!!!

Shot of Sendoh's dorm. Rukawa opens the door, but Sendoh isn't there. Kya, don't you just love the fact that Rukawa stops by Sendoh's dorm first instead of going home to his own house??? The phone rings. Sendoh's answering machine picks it up. A woman leaves her message, saying that Sendoh has been very cold to her lately and that he should contact her when he finds the time. Needless to say, the phone suffers an icy glare from Rukawa. LOL!!!

Sendoh, on the other hand, is at Rukawa's house, talking to Rukawa's cousin. Hearing from Ayako that Rukawa is returning that day, he waits for Rukawa there. Sendoh is wearing a black polo shirt, looking mighty fine. ^___^ Rukawa's cousin is getting impatient, for she was hoping that Rukawa would be back by dinner time. Rukawa's cousin tells Sendoh that she is getting married soon, and it's because of this that she wants to speak to Sendoh. She says that Rukawa doesn't want to move in with her and her husband. But if Rukawa is going to live alone, then she will worry constantly about him. Rukawa has told her before that if Sendoh can live alone, then he can do the same thing. She thinks that since Sendoh lives alone, then maybe he can move into the house with Rukawa and they can live together.

At Sendoh's dorm… Rukawa is taking a shower when someone knocks on Sendoh's door. Confused a little because he left the door unlocked, he answered it wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. ^____^ It is a woman. LOL! Rukawa tells her that Sendoh isn't home. The woman asks if she can just wait for Sendoh. Rukawa tells her she can do anything she wants for he is about to leave anyway. He opens the fridge and takes out two soda cans. The woman thanks her, but is surprised since what Rukawa gave her was a beer! Rukawa drank it all in one gulp. Needless to say, our innocent boy gets whoozy and faints.

It's 10:00 in the evening when Rukawa wakes up. The woman just left a note for Sendoh. ^^;;

Back to the Rukawa household… it's 11PM, and Sendoh is still there, waiting for Rukawa. Rukawa's cousin says something about Rukawa probably running off to some place else, when the door opens.

It's Rukawa!!! He is very surprised to see Sendoh there. Sendoh says hi, telling him it's been a long time since they last saw each other. Rukawa's expression turns into a scowl, and he ignores him, going up to his room. Sendoh thinks he is still angry. He says goodbye to Rukawa's cousin, saying that he better go or there won't be any train for him left to catch. Rukawa's sister apologizes.

Rukawa hears all of these in his room. What do you know, after a few moments of contemplation, he runs out of the house to chase after Sendoh (much to his sister's amazement, who doesn't have any idea what's going on).

"Oi!". Sendoh turns and sees Rukawa. They stand there, doing nothing but stare at each other. Suddenly, Rukawa runs to approach Sendoh. Sendoh, shocked for a moment, turns away and begins to run as well. They chase each other for quite a while, but Rukawa is still drunk and gets exhausted easily. When Sendoh looks behind his back, Rukawa is nowhere to be found. He walks back to find Rukawa, and he sees him in a corner hunched over with his hand on his mouth.

Sendoh approaches Rukawa and asks him if he is fine. Rukawa asks him why he ran away. Sendoh replies it was because he knew Rukawa was going to run after him. ^_^ Sendoh smells the shampoo on Rukawa's hair, and finds out that Rukawa was in his dorm all along! Rukawa tells him that he only dropped by there to sleep. Sendoh tells Rukawa that once Rukawa has vomited, he should feel better. Sendoh offers to put his finger inside Rukawa's mouth to help him vomit. Indignant, Rukawa tells him that he is fine. ^_^

They sit on a park bench for a while. Rukawa tells Sendoh that a woman stopped by his dorm. Rukawa tells him her name. Sendoh says that it's his father's second wife. Sendoh asks Rukawa if he thought it was his girlfriend. Rukawa says yes. Sendoh is a little hurt by this. LOL! Sendoh offers to walk Rukawa home, like a true gentleman. ^^ Sendoh tells him that he didn't know what to do then, for he has never chased after anyone in his life. Rukawa reminds him that he has never won over Sendoh yet. Sendoh tells him that he isn't talking about basketball at all. Rukawa says that he knows what Sendoh is talking about, but Sendoh tells him he doesn't. Rukawa says, "don't say all these "know's" and "don't-know's". And then, while bringing Sendoh's face very close to his, he says, "if you want to do something, why not just do it?"

Dun dun dun dun dun…. ^____^
