I came across Prin's DP doujinshi a long time ago, about the same time I got obsessed with ZetsuAi and Bronze (which was roughly in 1999). The art is so beautiful and wonderful that I, who had not seen a single episode of Slam Dunk at the time, became attracted to it. Maybe it was because Rukawa reminded me so much of Izumi Takuto. Can't say the same for Sendoh and Koji, though, although they are both perfect seme's. ^^;;

However, It was only this year when I decided to purchase the doujinshi. Yeah, it took me long enough. It cost me a fairly large sum of money, but it was worth it. It was worth every penny, and more.

Prin's art is simply marvelous. Loyal to the original animation, the drawings are clean, sleek, and beautiful. And I just love how she draws Sendoh's hair!!! Spiked or not, she really brought character to one of Sendoh's most unique physical qualities. ^_^ And contrary to how others perceive the SenRu pairing (that Rukawa is a weak uke in the relationship), the Rukawa in her stories is innocent, but definitely not a wimp! If there's anyone who's a bit unsure about their relationship, it's Sendoh… though Rukawa does have his moments in there as well.

Also, what's amazing about Prin's work is that most of the time, I perceive it as canon! It's so believable that I can totally see it happening in the real SD world. Here, we see how their relationship has turned into friendship, and from that into something deeper. It has become a complete story on its own, the way it has spanned up to 4 volumes now like your average shounen-ai manga… and until now, we are still eagerly anticipating the next part of the story.

Other characters are highlighted as well. Koshino is Sendoh's loyal friend who nags him all the time about his carelessness. Minami is the troublemaker in volume 2. Ayako is the mature "sister" who tries to give some advice to our lovable duo.

All in all, I can't recommend these books enough. This is the reason why I'm writing these summaries. Not scanlations, for Prin strongly prohibits anyone from using her art (which is absolutely understandable). Translations are provided in Linez's site for DEEP PURPLE, and I've used those to help me in my summaries. For Anamorphosis I and II, the wonderful Qian was an invaluable help in writing the summaries for those two books, and I can't thank her enough for offering to translate the parts which I can't understand due to my very basic knowledge in Japanese. ^_^

I can't say that my summaries are accurate, but I hope that they can appease those who still haven't gotten this dj… and maybe encourage them as well to buy them from Prin. ^_^ - Rowena 06/02
