       This is a NON - yaoi/yuri mailing list - but that doesn't mean that we're ANTI - yaoi/yuri.  We just aren't allowing any yaoi/yuri work on this list - if you're looking for a list that allows yaoi/yuri, please check out our Other Links section, you may find what you're looking for there.  :)

       Fanart will be welcomed as long as it’s kept under 120KB per file (and in .jpg or .gif format) and you will have to upload the file directly to the Yahoo Groups site.  Fanart guidelines are addressed below.  Please read them through before posting a pic.

       QUALITY lemons and limes will be allowed - as long as they’re clearly marked as such!  Please, if you're writing a lemon/lime fanfic, the characters should be of age - 18 or older.  And there’s no easy way to say this, but quality is a really big issue.  Let’s keep things tasteful.

       Language (as in curse words) will be allowed as it pertains to fics - but not if every other word is a foul one.  A wise person once said that the only reason someone has to use a curse word is because they can’t come up with anything better.  Now an occasional, well placed curse word can greatly enhance a story, or make a point, but again, let’s keep things tasteful.

       Fics, poetry, spoofs, etc., are welcome.  So is some off topic chatter.  We want everyone to feel welcome to share.

       On to the Off Topic topic...

       Fics/art, etc. should remain anime/manga related. We can talk about other things - movies, games, tv shows, etc. - but fanworks should remain anime/manga related.

       If you have a website and would like to share info on when you update it, etc., that's fine - but only if it's anime/manga related and/or about writing or some other related subject.  Even personal pages (about you) are okay, but let's not get out of hand.

       Some current world events are okay to discuss, but not on an everyday basis.  And please remember, we're an anime fanfic mailing list - let's not get into religious or political debates.

       Computer issues.  Want to know how to use the Yahoo chat room?  Ask away!  Having a problem with your computer?  We aren't computer technicians so please don't ask those kinds of questions.  Wondering if anyone else on the list is using the same graphic program as you?  Go ahead and ask - but please be sure to note that anyone who is should reply to you privately.

       Personal stuff - you just got a new job, you're getting married, you're going to have a baby - please feel free to share!  But please be cautious - the internet is full of people that aren't so nice - you have to be careful what you tell and to whom you tell it.

       Because of questions recently brought up on the list, we decided it was best to post this information here.

       Fanart guide lines.  As long as the subject matter of the drawing doesn't cross the line into porn, lemon themed art will be allowed.  Of course, in saying 'no porn' we realize that we are opening up for discussion what our definition of 'pornographic' would be - here are some general, initial guidelines for what we feel is acceptable/not acceptable for posting on AN.  We do reserve the right to add to these guidelines, if a situation arises that needs further clarification.

       Tasteful frontal nudity for either males or females will be allowed. Graphic depiction of sexual acts/intercourse of any kind is not allowed.  (In other words, no 'penetration' or 'inhalation' pics please!)  Sexually suggestive pics (couples embracing/touching in a non-explicit way) will be allowed.

       As far as suggestive 'kink' goes, (i.e. bondage-suggestive artwork) those drawings will have to previewed by the moderators on a case by case basis.  Please submit the pic in question to the moderators at the AN addy: animenotebook@yahoo.com and we will determine if it meets policy or not.

       Explicit scenes of rape, torture or other graphic types of violence are not acceptable/allowed. (That means no hentai tentacle pics please!)  Artwork that depicts any sort of hate/prejuidice against anyone (intentional or not) will not be allowed or tolerated.

       Of course, as with lemon fics, any suggestive pics should have the usual lemon disclaimers/warnings (please see above) when they are posted in the AN files/photo sections so people will know ahead of time what they are about to view - or whether they want to view that particular pic.

       We really aren't anticipating any problems with this issue, but in the spirit of fairness we must inform you that if we happen to get complaints that an unreviewed lemon pic is offending list members, or if we feel the unreviewed pic is inappropriate, we reserve the right to have the artist take down the drawing immediately - or take it down ourselves.

       Bottom line?  Non pornographic lemony pics are allowed, and if you aren't certain your pic meets our guidelines for being 'tastefully suggestive' and 'non-explict', please ask your moderators to review it before posting it to AN!
