8th MS Team Synopsis

Think of this as a side story of the first Mobile Suit Gundam. This 12 part ova series tells the story of what happened on earth during the One-year war in U.C. 0079. So let us start at the beginning we see a group of federation officers on their way from the colonies, going to earth. Among them is the main character Shiro Amada, while in on their way to earth they see a battle between a federation mobile suit and a Zaku II. Shiro sees that the federation pilot needs help and goes out in this weird type of suit to save him. During the battle the federation pilot who was in need of help (Sanders) manages to escape leaving Shiro to do battle against the Zaku. Both mechs are destroyed and both pilots engage in a battle inside a ship that is running out of air.

Eventually Shiro realizes that the Zeon soldier is actually a girl by the name of Eina. The two talk and eventually realize that the only way they are going to get off this ship that is running out of air is that they work together. It is also obvious to the viewers that both of them have some type of chemistry going on between them. So eventually they manage to get off the ship and go back to there military groups in space. For his act of bravery in saving Sanders, Shiro is giving a promotion as a commander to the Gundam 8th Ms Team. Sanders is also assigned to the group along with another guy called Mikhael. So there ends episode one of 8th Ms team, now lets move to episode two of the 8th Ms Team in this episode Shiro, Sanders, and Mikhael are on earth and meet up with two other members of the team Karen, and a blonde guy who I don't remember his name but he's not an important character.

Karen and the blonde guy show no real respect for Shiro as a commander calling him newbie. Eventually before everyone can get to know each other the 8th Ms Team is sent out in a mission to the jungle. So they go to the jungle and engage in a battle in which Shiro gets separated from the group. The team decides not to send out a search party because they don't want to make him look like a fool. So meanwhile Shiro is out in the jungle looking for a way back when he gets out of his gundam and sees a girl swimming naked in a pool. The girl runs off and he is not sure what is going on here. At the end of this episode Shiro makes a grand return in the Gundam earning some respect from everyone except Karen. So lets go on to episode three of the 8th Ms team.

In this episode Shiro is captured by the girl he saw swimming in episode two and happens to be captured by her and some others. Shiro learns that the group he is captured by is really are guerillas. So by the end of the episode Shiro brings the guerillas and the 8th MS Team together as an alliance. From here on, the series gets a bit redundant so I'm not going to go into major details. The only thing you really need to know is that Enia meet up with her brother in episode two. Her brother happens to be a leader of the Earth Zeon fleet. Enia wishes to help her brother achieve his dream and decides to pilot a giant zeon mech that has the power to destroy major portions of a fleet. So a couple of episodes go by about two or three and eventually a showdown between Enia and the 8th Ms Team ensues.

During, the battle Shiro and Enia learn that they are indeed fighting each other and crash land on a mountain. Once again the two have to work together in order to get out of this situation. During this encounter the two fall in love with each other but eventually are rescued by their friends. Shiro realizes that he can't be with Enia cause they are two different sides. For the next couple of episodes the higher officers suspect that Shiro is a spy. During these episodes Shiro is tormented by the fact that he has second thoughts about being in the military. Finally the last saga starts in which a final battle to decide the war on earth is stage. Shiro takes part in the operation to destroy the Zeon base.

Enia has also second thoughts and tries to convince her brother to stop the bloodshed. Her brother ignores her and eventually the Zion prepare to retreat to space. While the operation goes on one of Enia's friends goes out in order to protect her and the Zion effort. Enia's friend and Shiro do battle and in my opinion this is the best battle of a gundam show that I have seen since Wing Zero and the Eypon fought for the last time. So Enia's friend falls to Shiro, and Shiro decides that he is going to leave the force. So now lets go to the last episode Karen is given orders to shoot Shiro down by an admiral. She opens fire but Shiro runs off to stop Enia's brother. The federation fleet takes heavy fire from this huge Zaku and one of the corrupt admirals that gave the order to shoot Shiro is killed. Shiro does a bit of a battle with Enia's brother when Enia tries to escape to go with Shiro.

Her brother finally loses his mind and shoots his own sister. Shiro manages to grab her falling body and luckly Enia is not dead. The two are pretty injured but decide to work the controls of the Gundam together to stop the brother so a final battle begins ending with The Giant Zaku firing his beam at the gundam and the Gundam slashes and destroying the immense threat. So the episode ends with a narration with Mikahel saying how they never found the commander, thus we go to a shot of two figures holding up each other one of them has a leg missing and we hear them say they will share the burden together and so ends the series. For those who might not know who those two figures were it is indeed Enia and Shiro unfortunately Shiro lost his leg during the blast and perfered for everyone to think he was dead. So out of a possible 10 I give 8th Ms team a 10 I personally find this to be the best gundam show even though it is the shortest it is indeed enough to even rivial Gundam Wing. It is currently airing on the Cartoon Network on Midnights and should air for the last time very soon so don't miss out on your chance to see arguably the best Gundam show ever.
