There are not many special features to the game since this is one of  the first Pokémon games that you can play, but you can do the following...
-The new Pika Cup option for link battles
-Interact with a Pikachu and learn about Pokémon moods.  A Pokémon's mood will come into play later on.
-Able to access all the old features of the original Red and Blue.
-Darker color resolutions when played in Super Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or GB Advance
