Description
Matt is also one of the original digidestined, which is how he met his digimon, Tsunemon.  However, when Kuagamon attacked, Tsunemon digivolved into Gabumon to protect his partner.  Later on, when they were on the island and attacked by the Seadramon, Gabumon, despite his hatred of getting his fur wet, got into the water and digivolved to Garurumon to save the others.  Later on, after the first break up of the group, he left T.K. behind and was trapped in the restaurant working for Veggiemon and Digitamamon, where he was being tricked that Joe was sabotaging their work to try and keep Matt there.  Later on, Matt realized who his friends truly were and was able to give that power to Garurumon to digivolve to WereGarurumon, who also defended the digidestined from Dokugamon when they returned to the real world.  Then, during the battle against VenomMyotismon, he was hit with an Arrow of Hope and was able to use the power of the digivice to have Gabumon Warp Digivolve to MetalGarurumon.  Later on, against the dark masters, Cherrimon spoke to Matt about his crest not glowing and had him discourage his trust in his friends completely, but Gabumon vowed to stay by his side, which made Matt's crest glow again.  Matt attacked Tai and then left after he realized what he had done, destroying Puppetmon on his journey.  He then was almost consumed by the darkness in his heart, but Joe and Sara as well as T.K. were able to break him from his dark thoughts.  Then, Matt was able to use the same way that they broke through to him to rescue Sara from the same plight.  He returned to heal WarGreymon and help defeat Pidemon.  He also helped destroy Apocalyamon's arms and deliver the final blow to him.  Later on in 02, he slapped Tai for being too blinded by the problem of Agumon, which snapped him out of it.  He also was able to help teach Davis the power of friendship during the battle and tried to use Garurumon to break off the dark spiral on DarkMetalGreymon's arm. 

Personality
Matt is one who relies on the power of his friends to help him through a crisis.  His kid brother is T.K., whom he treats like a kid.  However, his crest stops glowing because he doesn't believe that T.K. has the strength to survive through their trip.  However, he does want to be leader of the team so bad and fights Tai for it after talking to Cherrimon.  However, when he realizes that by fighting Tai that he's betraying his friends, he leaves the group and gets consumed by his dark feeling in his heart.  However, Joe makes him see the light and saves him.
