Description
Ken was once the Digimon Emperor, but when Wormon sacrificed himself for trying to save Ken from who he became, he finally realized how cruel he had become.  He then later disapeared and did some soul-searching of his own, remembering how his brother had died and when he was called to the digital world by Arukenemon and how his digivice was transformed into the black D3.  He woke up from his trance, not knowing what had happened to him at all, but when he returned to the digital world, he found the digiegg that held Leafmon, the reincarnation of Wormon.  He then came back to help the digidestined, but only from a distance until he finally realized that he did have friends amongst the digidestined when they had to shut down the reactor in Ken's base.  That's when Stingmon, Wormon's champion form, and Exveemon, Veemon's champion form, DNA digivolved into Paildramon.  Ken and the others were able to get into the base then and Ken put his crest of kindness into the reactor to shut it down, which was also never returned to him.  After that, before the world tour started, Gennai brought with him an orb of light from Azulongmon to have the digidestined digivolve in the real world.  When the light from the orb hit Paildramon, Paildramon was able to Mega Digivolve to Imperialdramon, a digimon with awesome power.  Later on, after the world tour when Arukenemon and Mummymon had captured the children to harvest the dark seeds for MaloMyotismon's power, the digimon from 01 gave them their digivolving energy to have Imperialdramon mode change to Imperialdramon, fighter mode.  But, Ken was captured by Arukenemon and Mummymon as he learned the truth about himself from MaloMyotismon's human form.  Davis tracked him down and caught up with him, freeing him, but having to fight a strong mega-level digimon.  They couldn't send him back through the normal gate, so Ken decided to try his Black digivice to open a dark gate to the black ocean.  He succeeded and sent the digimon back.

Personality
Ken, at first, seems to always have his brother's death on his mind.  When Ken grew up with Sam, his brother always got his way because of how intelligent he was and he was the one who gave his parent's fame.  Then, when the digivice came, Sam immediately thought it was his, but Ken was the only one able to use it.  Sam found out that he had used it and punished him even worse because Ken was going through his things.  But, when Sam died in the car accident, he felt the pressures of having to carry on in Sam's name.  However, when he finally became part of the digidestined, he learned more about the others and showed his kindness to others.
