Hanamichi Sakuragi is a student of the Shohoku High, with a hair imposibly red ,extremely height and with a very bad temper.
His main ability is to get in trouble, to miss classes and other. But it is good known that he possess an astonishing record: his been rejected by 50 girls in what takes of highschool.
When arriving to the Shohoku high, he knows a girl called Haruko Akagi, the one which's the candidate number 51.
Haruko astonished by his height asks him: " Do you like Basketball"? and does he answer her without thinking: " I Love it! I amSakuragi the sportsman!", among other things to make Haruko happy to, wing that he loves this sport.
While Hanamichi thought of beginning to practice Basketball, he finishes in the corridors of the students of third degree, for that without reason got in troubles with those of third, so they challenged him to fight.
Those of third when arriving to the place where they had made an appointment with Hanamichi, they finish waking up a boy that was sleeping. which becomes furious, and hits them, For that when Hanamichi arrives they're all in the floor together with a hurt boy, which turns out to be Kaede Rukawa.
In that moment Haruko arrives and when she sees Rukawa in that state she thinks that Hanamichi was the one that hit him, and like she's madly in love with him misunderstood everything... for what she comes out of there screaming that she hates him, Hanamichi get depress for his rejection #51 so he tries to rush and jump from the roof of the institute, but his friends stop him. Once everything is "calm" his friends explain everything to Haruko solving the misunderstood.
However, the lost of Haruko makes Hanamichi hates more the basketball and it finishes fighting with the captain of the team.
And this's how this amusing history it begins...
