Chapter 1

“Baka...” Konzen scowled, resisting the urge to kick Kenren.

Kenren laughed boisterously, ignoring the vein throbbing threateningly from Konzen’s forehead.

“Maa, maa.” Tenpou smiled.

“Yo, where’s the baka saru?”

“Nani, you mean, Goku?”

Kenren rolled his eyes.

“Duh!”

“He’s gone to look for Nataku.”

‘Even though I would rather have him by my side...’ Konzen thought, a small smile escaping onto his lips.

“They’re friends, ne?” Tenpou’s voice cut in, making him lose his dreamy attitude.

“Apparently.”

“But Konzen,” Tenpou’s voice became thoughtful. “You know that Litouten is afraid, ne?”

“Afraid? I don’t know any of the shit that goes on within Tenkai’s army.”

“Well, then I should tell you.”

Tenpou sat down, as did Kenren.

“Litouten’s scared that if Goku and Nataku become good friends, Nataku will choose Goku to be predecessor instead of him.”

“So?” breathed Konzen.

“So Litouten wants to kill him.”

Those few words registered themselves within Konzen’s mind.

“Oh shit.”

Konzen pushed his chair away, running out.

“Konzen? OI! Nandayo, Konzen?!”

Konzen ran to the area where he believed Nataku’s room was.

“Goku!” he shouted.

“Konzen?”

“GOKU!” Konzen breathed a sigh of relief.

Goku’s small frame appeared beside him.

“Nandayo, Konzen?” he asked, tugging Konzen’s robes.

“I... It’s nothing...” Konzen panted.

“You’re red in the face, Konzen.”

“I... I know...”

Goku tilted his head, as if asking what was wrong with him.

Konzen knelt down.

“Come on Goku, let’s go back to my room, ok?”

“Ahh... hai!” Goku grinned.

Konzen ruffled his hair and stood up.

Goku took Konzen’s hand in his and squeezed it.

“Naa, Konzen, is something wrong?”

Konzen looked down at the innocent face.

“No, Goku. There’s nothing.”
