Without even acknowledging her, you walk into your bedroom and flop onto the bed as if in a state of a trance, not even noticing the soft click of the door closing behind you. Surely there was nothing to describe the feelings and thoughts racing through your body!
"Honey, didn't you hear me?" your mother peers around the door, "Honey?"
"Huh?" you sit up and face her.
"That good, huh?" she smiles as she sees the expression, or more like lack of expression, on your face.
"Mom, words can't even begin to describe it!" a smile spreads across your face as you recall all the spectacular events of the concert. "But Brian..." your voice trails into a sigh. "He is so amazing!" you lay back upon your bed to finish sorting out your thoughts.
Your mom joins you on the bed and patting your head says, "Geez, he is cute, I know."
You interrupt, "and he has a great voice, great personality, and he is a sweetie, Oh and he..."
"All right, enough already! Believe me, I know!" she smiles, "I was saying before my little daydreamer interrupted me, that it is strange because he has never had this effect on you before!"
"Maybe cuz I never met him before!" you beam as you spill the news.
"WHAT?" she shares your excitement. You know she has always thought of Brian as a great role model.
"I... I... I... met him," you stutter not fully recovered from the shock.
"So you said."
"But I didn't just meet him, we... we talked and he... he...," you trail off.
"OK, I understand you are excited, but BREATH!"
"Mom, pulease, he is only a normal, everyday guy!"
"Yeah totally normal," she says sarcastically, "I am not the one hyperventilating here!" she nudges your side.
"I am ok now, as I was sayin, he asked me to show him around the city tomorrow! ISN'T THAT GREAT?!" you exclaim, only slightly excited!!
Sharing in your enthusiasm, your mom replies, "Well that is absolutely FABULOUS! He is such a nice, not to mention charming, young man," she switches into her motherly tone.
"Oh, come on mom!"
"I wanna hear everything girl!" she says returning to her normal self.
"Tomorrow, all right mom? I never knew excitement was so tiring!" you yawn.
"Well, then I will leave you alone with your thoughts," she hugs you and departs, "Nightie night."
"Wow," you say aloud to yourself as you get up to grab your CD player remote. Reclining on your bed again, you press play and "Millennium"- what else?- begins to play. I may run and hide when you're screamin my name, alright... the pyrotechnics and spectacular light show of this opening song at the concert play again in your mind and you drift off...
The soft patter of knocking at your door awakens you. "Sorry hun, but it is a call for you." your mom says softly.
"What time is it?!" you ask while rubbing your eyes.
"1"
"1 AM?! Who would be calling me now?" suddenly you recall that nights happenings and leap for the phone.
Covering the receiver your mom says quietly, "It is a guy. Brian maybe?"
Your eyes light up and you take a deep breath before saying, "Hello?"
"Hey, sorry to call so late or so early, whatever. Geez, can you tell I am exhausted?" Brian's sexy yet tired voice says.
"Mmm hmmm" you agree as "The Perfect Fan" plays behind you- nice timing hey?
"So what have we got planned for tomorrow?" Brian asks.
"Well, I was thinking we could just, you know, "chill"," you smile. Amazing how he can make you smile even without being there!
"Chillen is good," Brian says.
It takes a lot to know what is love. It's not the big things, but the little things, that can mean enough...
"A familiar voice," you can visualize Brian smiling as he says this. "But whoever that guy is, he is right. It is the little things that count!"
"Yeah, I know, it is my favorite song... and my favorite voice," you blush even in his absence.
"Thanks."
"No problem. Hey, what am I getting out of this deal anyways. I mean I show you around..." you pretend not to like him and wait for him to finish.
"So spending the day with me means nothing to you?!" he pretends to be hurt.
"Come on, I mean, aren't you normal?"
"I am."
"So how about this normal guy I am showing around sings a normal song in his ever-so normal voice for me? As a payment you know?" you say being slightly flirtatious.
"Sounds perfect. So what time we planning on "chillin"?" he asks.
"Up to you."
"Can I pick you up at 11?"
Before ending the conversation, you give him your address. "So see you at 11 then?" you say as calmly as possible. "So we doing lunch then too?"
"Yeah, that would be cool!" he sounds excited.
"All right, I will surprise ya!" And surprise him you would!!! :-)
