Brian carried Liz up the stairs hours after the police had been left. She had asked him to stay with her that night. She shook from fright as she lay in Brian's arms. New York no longer seemed as great as it had that morning. Liz's world was spinning around her. She turned her head over and gazed at the window. The window through which Brian had leapt through and saved her was still open. A figure appeared outside it, and slowly stepped in. She held her arms out reaching for Brian. As the figure came closer, she realized that it was Josh. He was back. Recalling that she had fallen asleep in Brian's arms, she rolled over, expecting him to be behind her. She found no one there. Josh came closer and Liz opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came out. Josh was now over her, holding her wrists down to the bed. "Get off!" she tried to scream, but all that came out was a whisper. "Stopstopstop" she murmured.
"Liz, wake up," Brian said as Liz shouted.
"Smack." Liz slapped Brian and sat up.
"Ok, ouch!" Brian said sarcastically. "Liz, what happened, are you OK? Were you dreaming about him?" Brian asked.
"Yes," she cried. "I couldn't get away from him, I tried to shout out but I couldn't yell."
"It's ok now."
Liz cried in Brian's arms for an hour until she fell asleep.
