My 2002 summer project - 81 Vette Engine Rebuild

Click on an image below to see a full size picture

......

This is what I started with, so let the fun begin!!!!!

.........

Intake, heads, timing chain, cam, lifters, oil pump..etc..etc all removed for the rebuild.

.........

Well let's paint the engine compartment while everythig is off the engine.

After everything was removed from the block it was cleaned and painted. By this time my garage was looking like a parts store.

.........

Well everything started going together finally after 3+ months of cleaning, painting...

.........

And lots of blood, sweat and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

And the finished product...rear end will be next...

Believe it or not it actually runs after all this. The cam has a very mild lope at idle and is not to ratical. Next I will be pulling the rear end for a rebuild and both trailing arms. I will post pictures of that adventure as soon as I get started. Click below for the cam specifications.

Mass oil consumption problem after rebuild, let's try it again!!!

Trailing Arms are now out and in the process of being rebuilt. Pictures of that adventure are posted in the link below "rebuilding my vette rearend". If you are trying this for the first time, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at the link below. I have a ton of pictures also if you need to see or get and idea of any of the processes.
