Acharya Srimat Swamy Pranavanandaji Maharaj,the founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha,as believed by millions was an incarnation of Lord Shiva.The divine boy took birth in the year of 1896 on an auspicious day of Maghi Purnima in a remote village of Bajitpur,Faridpur District of East Bengal.Father was Shree Vishnu Charan Das,a well to do middle class and mother-Sharada Devi.The boy,popularly called as "Vinod" was the "cynosure of neighbouring eyes".From his very childhood the boy was a prodigy.As he grew older,Vinod became a mystic and began to meditate profoundly on the transitoriness of the world,on the frailties and futilities of mundane existence.It was the year 1913,Vinod got Diksha from Yogiraj Gambhirnathji in Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh and in the year 1916, on the auspicious day of Maghi Purnima he attained the Divine illumination. And as a direct result of this ,was born the Bharat Sevashram Sangha- the organization to serve the humanity suffering from Physical,Moral,Cultural and Spiritual malaise.

His message is- this is an age of Universal Awakening,Universal Unification,Universal Synthesis,Universal Emancipation.

In December 1923,the Brahmachary Vinod embraced 'Sannyas' & emerged as Swami Pranavanandaji.As years rolled on,the incessant humanatarian services of the Sangha progressed leaps and bounds with the increasing numbers of its sacrificing workers.The selfless philanthropic activities without having any prejudice to caste and creed made Sangha a household name in the poor and the distressed.Acharyas reform activities and setting up of Yatri Niwas at holy places like Gaya,Puri,Benaras etc conferred the Sangha the status of a protector,guardian and religious teacher of the holy places.At the age of only 45 Pranavanandaji passes away from this materialistic world.But yet he is the source of inspiration in our everyday life.
