You can play three types of game:
Campaign

There are four campaigns in Heroes 1. Each one allows you to play for one type of town in a
beggining of each scenario. In order to continue to next scenario, previous one should be competed.
Single scenario
Heroes 1 standard package offers about 20 different scenarios. Each one has it's own difficulty. You cannot
set the difficulty level you want as you can in Homm3, but you can determine level of AI.
Multiplayer
The same scenarios can be played via usual tools: direct connect, modem connection, hot seat.
Heroes of Might and Magic 1 offers four types of towns: Castle, Barbarian, Sorceress and Warlock.
Here's a list of creatures available to recruit in these towns.

| Main disadvantages of the castle troops is that they are relatively slow,
and peasants can offer no possible help except for slowing the army movement. On the other hand, paladins are really cheap and
quite powerful. |
