On this page I have a few of the bakelite cabinet models.

1939 Stewart Warner 03-5B

Stewart Warner was known for manufacturing automotive parts and gauges. They entered the radio market in 1925. Stewart Warner had some nice styling on a number of the radios they made in the late 1930s. The model 03-5B is one of them. There is a lot of curved surfaces on this radio. The speaker area juts out from the main body. Look close and even the push buttons are sleek in appearence. The same basic styling was used on other models but slight differences in the speaker grill work was the main difference. On other models more colors were offered then black, brown, and ivory white.

1941 Sears Silvertone Model 7020

Sears brought out the model 7020 in 1941. The curved sweeping dial around the knob then going across the face gave the radio the knickname the Candy Cane set. That is exactly what it looks like. There were different colors for the cabinet and also for the dial. This resulted in a number of color combinations. This radio sold well for Sears so they sold it for a few years with minor changes. It is a popular radio today.

1939 Sears Silvertone Model 6110

Imangine you are looking through the 1939 Sears cataloge and you see this radio. Wow looks like something out of the future! The design of this radio looks like it should be from the 1950s with its rocket like shape. The 6110 is for real. The right side nose cone is the radios dial. The fins on the front are the rockets fins. The top push buttons are windows in the nose cone. Turn this set on and you are ready for take off. Turn the dial to go through the gallaxy of stations and tuning into your favorite sci fi radio show. Well it is 1939 and this futuristic looking radio could take you there.
