Admiral made good quality radios for a fair price back in the 1930s. In a few short years by 1938 Admiral was 5th in radio sales. This model here is a nice example of the streamline style so popular in the late 1930s through the mid 1940s. This model has standard broadcast and shortwave. 1938 Majestic Model 1
The 1930s was radios golden age as we look back now. The movies were your main visual entertainment and radio was your hearing entertainment. Edgar Bergen and his side kick dummy was one of the most popular radio comedy shows on the air at this time. Majestic came out in 1938 with a small inexpensive radio with Charlie McCarthy molded figure applied to the case. In the one picture above notice this was a one tube radio! This is the reason for it being the model 1. It was a standard broadcast radio and used a external wire antenna.
