Goodyear Model 588
Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is well known for the automotive tires and other auto related products. During the 1930s Goodyear started to open factory dealer stores to sell their products. Goodyear included radios. Pictured above is the atractive Goodyear Wings model 588. Wings was Goodyear's in house brand used on the radios they sold.
Firestone Air Chief Model 7S7403-8
Firestone started selling radios through its dealer outlets in 1939. Pictured above is one of the first year models. This radio has a stylish white bakelite case. This radio receives am,police,and shortwave bands. Firestone's brand names were Air Chief,Roamer,and Firestone.
1937 Delco Model R1126
General Motors started in radio early. GM bought Day Fan in 1925 and sold that brand name. GM went through a major reorginazation in 1933 and radios were put under General Motors for a time. Then a new division was created called United Motors and the Delco named was used for thier radios. Then the radios were put under the AC Delco division who is still a subsiduary of GM today.
