Daves Colorfull Radios Page 10

Welcome to Daves Colorfull Radios page 10. Emerson made a number of well known Catalin and Plaskon radios. In 1940 Emerson came out with the Aristocrat and Patriot models. Both models share the same model number.(400) The Aristocrat came out first then the Patriot. The war in Europe was going on and Emerson knew it would not be long before the US may get involved in some way. So they brought out the Patriot model. The Aristocrat model you could get one color or two color combinations. The Patriot could be in any combination of red, white, and blue. There was quite a number of combinations you could get. The other styling feature on the radios was the cats eye style dial. This style dial would be a Emerson style feature on thier radios for a number of years. The picture below is a brown Aristrocrat with very heavy marbling of yellow.

1940 Emerson Aristocrat

Here is a solid colored Aristrocrat. This radio used a ac/dc chassis. Notice that the white has yellowed some with age. This does happen to the Catalin models.

1940 Emerson Patriot

Here is the blue version of the Patriot. This radio used Plaskon for the cabinet. In this color combo the radio is quite outstanding in its looks! Would you play this radio on the 4th of July?Click here to go to page 11. Click here to go back to page 9 of Daves Colorfull Radios. Click here to go back to the homepage.
