Daves Colorfull Radios Page 11Welcome to page 11 of Daves Colorfull Radios. Colorfull radios came in other types too. On this page I have a metal set,a novelty set,and a wood set. Metal was used back in the twenties and continued right along as the styles of radio changed. When radio sets came out in the 1920s they themselves were considered a novelty. It did not take long for home set builders and some manufactures to make some very novelty type sets. Wood sets took on some novel shapes from time to time and with the many types of wood they could be quite colorfull too. Pictured below is a Sears metal Chrome set. This small set looks like its from the late 1940s or early 1950s. I dont have the model number for this radio. I am going by the style and the dial. Sure is a shinning example of a chrome set!

Wards Airline Rudolph Novelty Set /Setchell Carlson Am/FM Radio
Rudolphs popularity grew to the point that in 1949 Wards offered this novelty radio for the Christmas season. The radio is colorfull. For the radio collector the verse would go; Rudolph with your dial light shines so brite would you guide my sleigh tonite! The Setchell Carlson radio pictured below ia a nice looking am/fm radio. The style is nice with the big round speaker and the gold dial accent is also nice. The blending of the stains is a nice touch too. Click here to go to page 12.
