2-16- Daytona 500-3rd place finish in rain shortened race.
2-23- Subway 400-8th place finish. Looks like Jimmie is picking up where he left off at last year!
3-2- UAW/DaimlerCrysler 400-Had a good run and was spun out by Sterling Marlin on the last lap. Intentional? Probably not. Finished 11th.
3-9- MBNA America 500-32nd place finish. Engine failure 17 laps from the finish! Otherwise had a real good run and would have finished in the top ten!
3-16- Carolina Dodge Dealers 400-Finished 27th. Looks like the sophmore jinx might be kicking in! Let's hope not!
3-23- Food City 500-Comes back with an 8th place finish. Good run. Puts Jimmie back on track!
3-30- Samsung/Radio Shack 500-Great run. Blew engine in practice and started at the back of the pack, finished 8th! Could Jimmie have won this if he had started 4th, the place where he qualified?
4-6- Aaron's 499-Good run. Led most laps. Spun out on last lap. Should have finished better than 15th!
4-13- Virginia 500-Another top 10 (9th)! Should have finished better. Just was not running well at the end.
4-27- Auto Club 500-16th place finish. Seen better from Jimmie!
5-3- Pontiac Excitement 400-19th! Jimmie just can't seem to get it together. He has to get a break sooner or later!
5-17- The Winston*-Jimmie WINS! Non-point event but takes home a cool million dollars!
5-25- Coca Cola 600-Jimmie WINS AGAIN! Rain shortened event. Could he have won if the race had went the distance? Seems like Jimmie has had a problem near the end of races this year! Maybe it was a good thing the rain came when it did!
6-1- MBNA Armed Forces Family 400-Caught up in accident! Finished 38th. Maybe Jimmie needed some rain when he was leading!
6-8- Pocono 500-First pole of the season. Finished 12th.
6-15- Sirius Satellite Radio 400-16th place finish. Not one of Jimmie's best efforts!
6-22- Dodge/SaveMart 350K-Good run considering Jimmie started 37th and finished 17th on a road course that is hard to pass on!
7-5- Pepsi 400-18th place finish. Not the best finish, but moved up to 6th in the point standings!
7-13- Tropicana 400-Great run! Should have won this race! Had to start dead last, because of an engine change. Finished 3rd! Jimmie even led 25 laps. Restarts and fuel mileage kept Jimmy from winning this one.
7-20- New England 300-Jimmie WINS! Good run, great pit strategy!
7-27- Pennsylvania 500-15th place. Just couldn't get the right set up this week.
8-3- Brickyard 400-Ran well. 18th place finish. Was a pre-race favorite. Caught up in late multi-car accident on a restart. Probably would have finished in the top 10.
8-10- Sirius @ the Glen-Qualified 20th, had to change an engine and start at the back of the field, finished 4th! Great run. That was almost like a win for Jimmie! Had a very good car.
8-17- GFS Marketplace 400-Probably had the best car all day. Ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go! Finished 27th. Led the most laps (50).
8-23 -Sharpie 500-Great run! Managed to stay out of trouble and finish 5th. Moved into 4th in the point standings.
8-31- Mt. Dew Southern 500-Another good run! Finished 3rd!
9-6- Chevy Rock and Roll 400-11th place finish. Ran well and stayed out of trouble!
9-14- Sylvania 300-Jimmie Wins 3rd race of the year! Over came some obstacles to win this one! First person to win both race at New Hampshire in the same year or in a row!
9-21- MBNA 400-Good run. Finished 8th. Moves into 3rd in point standings.
9-28- EA Sports 500-Finished 34th! Engine Failure. 3rd DNF this season.
10-5- Banquet 400-Won pole but crashed in practice and had to go to back up car and start at the rear of the field. Finished 7th! Even managed to lead 20 laps!
10-11- UAW-GM Quality 500-3rd place finish! Should have won.
10-19- Subway 500-Not sure who had the best car! Jimmie or Jeff Gordon! Jimmie finished 2nd after starting 26th! Jeff started on the pole and finished 1st!
10-26- MBNA Bass Pro 500-Another great run! Finished 3rd!
11-2- Checker 500-Finished 2nd! Should have won this one.
11-9- Pop Secret 400-Another 2nd place finish! Moves into 2nd in point standings!
11-16- Ford 400-Finished 3rd! Jimmie could have won the championship if not for the DNF's he had earlier in the season! Oh well, there's always next year!
