Jeff Gordon, is one of the hottest drivers in the Nascar circuit today. He is the second youngest driver in history to win the Nascar Winston Cup Series Championship. He is also the youngest to win 4 Championships. 1993 Rookie of the year. 1994 Inaugural Brickyard 400 winner. 1995 Nascar Winston Cup Series Champion. 1996 Came in second in Winston Cup points. Only losing by a mere 37 points of defending his championship. His team mate Terry Labonte won. Jeff is the 1997 Nascar Winston Cup Series Champion. He won by only 14 points! After a little bad luck in qualifying for the last race, he had to start 37th and finished 17th. Barely enough to win! Also won the Winston Million. Only the second driver to ever accomplish this feat and will be the last. He finished the season with 10 wins and 23 top 10's. He also won the Winston Select, which is a non-point event. 1998 Winston Cup Series Champion! Won the Championship with one race left. 13 wins, 28 top 10's, 26 top 5's, and 24 top 3's! 17 consecutive top 5's. Ties record for consecutive wins (4). Ties record for most wins in a single season (13). 1999 Finished 6th in the point standings. The only driver to qualify in the first round for every race. Most wins (7), 17 top threes, 19 top fives, and 22 top tens. This was an up and down season for Jeff. First he lost his crew chief Ray Evernham, then his pit crew announces it will be leaving him for Dale Jarrett in the year 2000. He had 6 DNF's, that is the most since 1994. 2000 Not the best of years, but not bad either. 11 top 5's, 22 top 10's, and 3 wins. The fewest wins in one season since 1994. 2001 Winston Cup Series Champion! He's back! That's 4 Championships in the last 7 years! Youngest driver to ever win more than 3 championships in a career. Only the 3rd person to win more than 3 championships! Won the Winston for the 3rd time! Won 4th No Bull Million! 6 wins, 18 top 5's and 24 top 10's! 2002 Finished 4th in the championship points. 3 poles, 3 wins, 13 top 5's, and 20 top 10's. A decent year! 2003 Almost a repeat of the 2002 season! Finished 4th in the Championship point standings! 4 poles, 3 wins, 15 top 5's, 20 top 10's. Another good year! 2004 A great year! Finished 3rd in the point standings. Would have had his 5th championship if not for Nascar changing the point system. 6 poles, 5 wins, 16 top 5's, and 25 top 10's! 2005 This was the worst year Jeff has had since his rookie season. Finished 11th in points with 9 DNF's. Most of the DNF's were due to getting caught up in someone else's accident, (being in the wrong place at the wrong time)! 2 poles, 4 wins, 14 top 10's, and 8 top 5's. 2006 Better than last year. Jeff finished 6th in points, 2 poles, 2 wins, 14 top 5's, 18 top 10's! 7 DNF's is to many! 2007 2nd in the point standings, 7 poles, 6 wins, 21 top 5's, 30 top 10's (a new record!) One of Jeff's best years. Should have been champion, but Nascar's new point system SUCKS! 2008 Not so good. 4 poles, 0 wins, 13 top 5's, 19 top 10's, and 6 DNF's. Just couldn't seem to win. Finished 7th in points. 2009- 3rd in the point standings, 1 pole, 1 win, 16 top 5's, 25 top 10's, and 1 DNF. A very good year, just lacking in the win column. 2010-9th in points. Another winless season. 1 pole, 0 wins, 11 top 5's, 17 top 10's, and 4 DNF. 2011-At the age of 44 he has 4 Championships, 82 poles, 93 Nextel Cup Series wins, 326 top 5's, and 475 top 10's in 797 starts. Very impressive! This man in his storied career has earned over $144,000,000 !!!!!!! His win at the 1998 Brickyard 400 put him 2nd on the all time money winners list. He done this in only 5 1/2 years! Becomes the all time money winner with clinching the 2001 Winston Cup Championship at the NAPA 500 in Atlanta and collecting $3.6 million for the effort!
