My name is Becca, and I'm the owner of Annabear Babyware! I'm 29, and
a WAHM to my 2 little ones, Anna (7) and Aaron (5). We live in Colorado
with my husband of 8.5 years, Charlie.
Shortly after finding out #2 was on the way, I started looking into this whole "sling thing". All I had with Anna was a Bjorn-type carrier, and I remembered being horrified that I could not nurse while wearing it. It wasn't used often, and I tried a framed backpack carrier out once, but it was actually painful! So I turned into Mrs. Rubber arms, and knew that would not do, with 2 little ones. Anna still liked being carried a lot, and of course this new baby could not live in the carseat!! Found a Maya Wrap for $20, and snagged it. Started using it with dd, and used it often! But, it just didn't seem to work terribly well for me, the rings slipped, I was constantly adjusting it, and decided to look into other types of carriers. WOW, there are so many!! Who knew??
I looked around and found a few different sites showing how to make your own
this and that... I had only sewn cloth diaper things at this point, but decided
to give it a try. Only took me 5-10 tries to get somethingI could actually USE,
lol. Different fabrics, widths, and smile depths later, I had a carrier I was
willing to share with friends. I offered to make a couple pouches for girls who
did not sew, and after several requests, I set up a simple website to show what fabrics I had.
And if you have a website, you need a name! I settled on something cutesy, but memorable, I guess. It's a play on my daughter's most-used nickname~ Annabear Babyware.
After a few months of slings-only, I decided to make myself a Mei Tai, and when I finally settled on something I liked there for size and style, those seemed to catch on in the same way the pouches had.
A few years later, here we are, trying to get our in stock store in order so turnaround is next to nothing! Any pouch fabrics listed are in-stock, and Mei Tais are coming up behind those as sewing time allows. We will continue to accept custom orders even after the in-stock store is 100% in place.
