On this site I have some interesting information about the Canadian Joint task force 2.
-Shadowy, highly skilled counter-terrorist force of undetermined size, based somewhere near Ottawa with an anonymous commanding officer.
-Formed from taking over anti-terrorist duties from the RCMP in April, 1993.
-Can be sent on whatever missions commanders deem necessary.
-commanded by a lieutenant colonel unit strength is estimated at between 200 and 250 men.
-trained to re-take buildings or aircraft, deployed with a variety of special equipment such as stun and flash grenades, automatic assault weapons, night vision, equipment. Includes skilled marksmen and explosive experts.
-Headquarters is located at the Wyer Hill training Center, Ontario. Believed to have a CQB (close-quarter battle) facility, an 8-story building for hostage-rescue, a DC-10, a bus, a multi- million dollar shooting range, gymnasium, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
-$20 million was given to the JTF2 when it first started. Today, the budget is around $40 million.
-only fittest and most capable armed soldiers are brought into the JTF2.
-The men are organized into 2 or 4-man teams known as “bricks.”
-deployed on each and every large scale peacekeeping mission.
