Ok...heres the page you've been waiting
on. The BEST OF and WORST OF the MP3 mixers. Keep in mind, I've downloaded and tried almost
every mixer on the net. This is NOT a complete list of all thats available. Only the BEST ONES
and SOME I DON'T CARE FOR ARE LISTED. Most mixers have GOOD and BAD points. I'll try to explain
some of the good and bad (if any) of each one listed.
MP3 Professional DJ/Broadcast Mixers
First off, let me explain why I gave the first mixer listed a negative. IT'S
NOT AN MP3 MIXER!!!
OtsJuke will play only OTSMEDIA files. In other words after
you do all the work of converting
your CDs to MP3...it wont play on OtsJuke! A
special converter is included with the demo that
lets you convert your MP3's.
Another NEGATIVE POINT to OtsJuke is stability. Even though it
sounds super with
its AGC and limiting feature, its quite expensive
(Over $150). When OtsJuke
running (even with the fastest computer processors)
you CAN NOT open any other program
on your computer. Now the good points...it does sound great. Try the demo
after you've tried
some of the other mixers listed. Virtual DJ
This mixer (like otsjuke) has a built in Audio Compressor. Super
and your choice of up to 10 mixers. This one is SHAREWARE.
price tag of $29 ($20 when its on sale) is low
compared to its sound quality. I highly
recommend this mixer if you need one with audio
compression. Bad point...not
recommended for use
over 8-12 hours. Only a maximum of 10 mixers available.
Must be reloaded after the tenth one plays.
Rated 7 out of a possible 10. MixVibes FREE
Heres an ideal beginners mixer (although I don't recommend
use of it). It mixes quite well and has individual gain and equalizers.
Fairly fast download
and great to try your MP3's on. Out of a possible 10, I'll rate
version 3 a whopping 5. If you go to the MixVibes website,
try the older version 2.11
instead. It has 4 mixers, customizable and very small in size. Ideal
for live operation. NOT
RECOMMENDED for unattended use. MP3Tunes 1.7.5
Heres an IDEAL choice for the professional DJ & Radio Station.
Extremley easy to use and it's freeware. Has a
built in jingle player, choice of YOUR TYPE fonts.
Customizable DJ or radio station logo in its center. The nice
advantage of using MP3Tunes is you
can minimize your screen WHILE ITS
RUNNING, then convert a CD to MP3, tag it, trim it and place
it in your folder of
MP3's without any skipping of music or interuptions. I use this mixer for
all my DJ
use on the road. I've had it run continuous for
72 hours without any problems.
ideal MP3 Mixer. Many more features like Broadcast Skin! Rated 10+! MixMeister 2.0
Not very attractive but makes a perfect mix of your MP3's.
It's low cost (SHAREWARE)
makes it an ideal mixer for
portable DJ use or
professional broadcasting. Also has a built in BPM feature. Ideal for the
wants the beat to go on. A little useless for
the Radio Station however. Rated 8!
No information on MixMeister Broadcast version 2.02,
would appreciate an exe
of this one, if anyone has a copy.
MixVibes PRO 4.0
I didn't even check the price of this one. Hasn't been out
I tried the DEMO version of this (SHAREWARE)
mixer. Very busy...lots of
useless knobs. I spent my 30 minutes
demo time trying to get some sounds to mix.
Never did get it to work. Too many other FREEWARE
mixers easier to use.
I rate this one 2! DJ Power 3.86
I wasted about 2 hours trying to get a decent mix on the
It only plays about half of the song, so you never really get to find out
how it mixes.
Attractive layout. SHAREWARE RATED 3! MixMeister 3.1
Makes a perfect professional mix of your MP3's.
Low cost (SHAREWARE)
makes it an ideal mixer for
portable DJ use or
professional broadcasting. Also has a built in BPM feature like version 2.0 .
This is the second mixer evaluated that has been Rated 10!
MixMeister Pro version 1.01 rated as well and listed below.
This one is made for Radio Station USE ONLY! Not a good
the DJ. Has lots of good and bad points. Its suppose
to be able to accept
-ins...like AGC and compression.
Kept locking up when I tried to install them. I read
the reviews and comments others have made..
..same problems locking up. Very
VERY EXPENSIVE! Around $599.00. For the professional broadcaster, I'd
try some others before
spending my clients money on this. This mixer was rated 4. TPlayer
Latest addition to our mixers page. Mixes very well with a unique adjustable style. The VU meters (courtesy of Boris Y. Ribov) are the most realistic meters I've seen yet. They even
have peak indicators. SUPER SMALL file downloads fast. Skip-free mixes no matter what else you
have opened on your computer. Great job! Only drawback is NO HELP file, but it's fairly easy to figure out. This mixer has been rated 7*!
NOTICE TPlayer fans! If you have the latest version that accepts skins, DOWNLOAD the NEW BROADCAST SKINS! Zipped file is only 111kb. Has three really cool skins FREE to use!
This MixMeister mixer is very similiar to version 3.1 but will cost you about $100 more.
Added features not found on version 3.1 are the addition of directX plug ins, mixnow
button, endnow button and pausenext button (hardly worth the extra hundred bucks). This version is ideal for the professional
disc jockey with the addition of AGC and compression plug-ins to keep your mix the
same volume. Actually for the price difference, you can buy a professional rack mount
19" AGC, limiter and compressor unit for about $30 LESS!!!! I would suggest version
3.1 for broadcasting AND dj use. MixMeister Pro rated 8. Negative point...high price tag! SEE MIXMEISTER ON THE AIR!
This DEMO version that was evaluated seems perfect for ON THE AIR use! However, I disagree with the software company. Its NOT a great mixer for DJ use! When did DJ's need commercials and jingles? Plus for live DJ use...it only has 3 players. From what I can tell...it blows the doors right off OtsJuke, MixMeister Pro and Raduga for professional radio station use, but could not give a DEMO a higher rating without seeing and trying all the features. Could not find a price on website. SHAREWARE DEMO Rated 6 out of a possible 10. Sonicart
Sonicart is a unique virtual cart machine designed to replace analog carts. currently being used in hundreds of broadcast stations. In three simple words..."A MUST HAVE". This is FREEWARE and is definitely worth downloading (about 3megs). The freeware package includes SONICART for playback, Sonipak for scheduling show playlists and Sonienc (a batch MP3 encoder which also includes digital CD extraction and MP3 to wav file encoding. I like this program so well...I printed out the help file and placed it in a binder. Sonicart has been running since I downloaded it. Perfect program for LIVE on air use, DJ use and automation ON AIR USE! I can't believe a program that works like this is FREE! By the way, the carts actually look like old time carts from yesteryear! Options include mix options, font color, font size and more! Here is a definite MUST HAVE download! Rated 10+ out of a possible 10!
