Here is the place where my Beltaine rituals will go. I've really gotten into writing my own lately, and this is where I showcase my work.

Been working on a few ideas for new Beltaine rituals, I'll be adding them in the next few weeks, though hopefully I'll have them done before Beltaine arrives this year!!

Beltaine Circle Notes:

Celebrate this ritual outside near a living tree (though if that's not possible, bring a small, potted tree or plant indoors!) Use a dark green altar cloth and decorate with flowers of the season. Anoint green candles with a floral scented oil and place them in flower covered candle rings. Burn a Beltaine incense (recipes can be found in Beltaine Recipes 2). Mark the perimeter of the Circle with flower petals.

Try casting the Circle with a bouquet of flowers tied with colored ribbons instead of your wand or athamé.

Beltaine Celebration Ideas:

  • Light a fire in the fireplace at sundown to invoke the Sun God. Keep it going until sundown on May 1st. If you don't have a fireplace - or it's too hot for a fire - light a large white or yellow seven-day candle. When lighting the fire or the wick, chant:
    • "God of Sun, Fire in the sky, Light the Earth and warm the night. Warm our spirits, hearts, and hands. Shed Your light upon this land."
  • Using a coat hanger wire as a base, make a door wreath of fresh greenery and flowers (just shape the wire into a circle, then attach small bunches of flowers and greenery with floral wire. Finish off with a pretty bow). Decorate the house with any leftover plant materials.
  • If you have a yard and can dance the Maypole outside, obtain a closet pole from your nearest hardware store or lumber yard. These make excellent Maypoles and are fairly inexpensive. Cut ribbon streamers twice the length of the pole and fasten them securely to the pole top with small nails or brads. Pound the pole into the ground in the center of the yard.
  • Hold a food drive and make food baskets. Bless them by chanting:
    • "Fire of Sky and Fire of Sun, End all hunger - be it done.
  • Take the baskets to those less fortunate than you. Deliver them to homeless shelters or to people living on the streets. You can also contact local Church personnel for lists of families needing food. Serve an evening meal of breakfast foods to invoke the fertility of the Sun God. Pancakes, eggs, milk, cheese, bacon, sausage, and honey are good options. Fix an extra plate for the Sun God, and leave it outside in the East when supper is finished.
  • Before going to bed, say the following prayer for Universal fertility:
    • "Lord and Lady, Growing Sun. Bless us in our work and fun. Bless the land and animals, too. Bless the crops and morning dew. Bless all that live upon this land, Bestow Your great abundance and Fertilize all that we do. This we humbly ask of You."
