Spanker, Dark Pink

Name Spanker, Dark Pink
Category Silver Salmon/Pink Salmon
Hook Daiichi 2151, Size  1, wrapped with thread and coated with epoxy before applying body material
Thread Red, Danville 3/0
Tail Red Angel Hair over 12 strands of silver holographic tinsel
Body Dark pink Cactus Chenille
Head Red

This fly had to be the highest producer this fall, taking numerous Pinks and Silvers in the Nisqually tidewater.  It took a few Silvers of good size and really lived up to its reputation. I tied this in several color combinations, but had the most success with the dark pink variety. The original pattern, may not call for it, but this one is tied on the Daiichi 2151. I like it  for the curved shank and straight eye both of which I think improves the hook set when a salmon takes. See also, the Chartreuse variety of the Spanker.

Silver taken on a Dark Pink Spanker - this one getting ready for the dinner table.
