Silver Blue Jay

Name Silver Blue Jay
Category Pacific Salmon
Thread Silver
Body Oval silver tinsel
Wing Bright blue or robin blue polar bear hair

The pattern for this fly came from the fine book by Barry M. Thornton, Saltwater Fly Fishing for Pacific Salmon. He notes that this fly is very effective for Chinook and Coho in estuaries and rivers in October. Dress the same as for Pink Eve. The blue color should lie in the range between navy and robin’s egg blue.
