Kennedy Mini Leech

Name Kennedy Mini Leech
Category Chum Salmon
Hook Gamakatsu Octopus, or Salt Water Hook, Size 1/0 to 2/0
Tail Chartreuse Zonker Strip, About 1/4 In. Past Bend of Hook.(Tie in before bend; leave enough for wing; Wrap Thread forward on hook shank under zonker strip)
Wing The Remainder of the Chartreuse Zonker Strip, Wrapped Around Hook to about 1/4 in. Before Eye. (Leave enough room for head)
Head Pink Estaz, Wrapped to Form Head

I tie this variation of the Bunny Leech and Mini Leech patterns for the chums at Kennedy Creek, the South Puget Sound tidal creek. It has been very successful. I also tie it in fluorescent red with a chartreuse head. In recent years I have gotten more into the habit of pinching down the barb after I tie my flies. Although this doesn't show it, remember to do so.
