Veach's Green Sockeye Fly

Pornge

Name Veach's Green Sockeye Fly
Category Pacific Salmon (Sockeye)
Body Purple "wool"
Ribs Silver tinsel & silver oval, the latter countered over the hackle
Hackle Fluorescent green
Wings Fluorescent green duck
Collar Purple tying thread

Veach's Green Sockeye Fly was designed and tied by Master Tyer, Dr. David Burns. As you can see from his notes below, it proved to be a very successful fly.

Notes from Dr. Burns: A year ago I tied up one of these for my friend, Eric Veach, who lives in Gakona, AK. He said that it was such a great sockeye killer that I should get the pattern in a place that others could use it. I call it Veach's Green Sockeye Fly in order to keep track of it.

You can see more of Dr. Burns' flies at The Flies of Dr. David Burns
