Pacific Salmon in the Salt

Jeffrey Wimer displays a beautiful Silver he caught off of the beach on the mouth of the Italio, Alaska. This one was taken on a black marabou pattern with just a bit of green flash and a Claret Schlappen hackle. The concept of fly fishing for Pacific Salmon in the salt has never crossed the mind of many that have the good fortune of living near the ocean bays, and estuaries that salmon inhabit. For years it has been either a mystery or taboo. Finally, though, the documented evidence is mounting that it can be a successful and rewarding experience thanks to outdoorsman and authors like Barry M. Thornton, Ken Hanley, Les Johnson, et al.
