The concept of fly fishing for Pacific Salmon in the salt has never crossed the mind of many that have the good fortune of living near the ocean bays, and estuaries that salmon inhabit. For years it has been either a mystery or taboo. Finally, though, the documented evidence is mounting that it can be a
successful and rewarding experience thanks to outdoorsman and authors like Barry M. Thornton, Ken Hanley, Les Johnson, et al. In this issue, we’ll examine some of the literature, learn about the salmon, and
discuss techniques and flies used to catch them. 
Contributing
author and fly tyer Mike Foster, has been a fly fishing instructor, fly
shop operator, instructor for Fenwick Fly Fishing Seminars, and writer
for various outdoor publications. In addition, several of his original
flies have been displayed in the books of Les Johnson, et al. In this issue he relates his experience with fly fishing the salt and
shares some of his favorite flies. 
Guest author and contributing fly tyer, Dennis Dickson again keeps us in stitches with a story about one of his favorite flies. His series continues in this issue as he gives step-by step instructions for tying
a very successful variation of the Pacific Salmon and Sea-Run Cutthroat fly,
