The full-and-ridiculous name I gave her: Elizabeth Abigail May Hart.
Nicknames: Moondog, Bessie May, Mayso, Moose, Bess Abby the Labby, Miss Bess May, every other ridiculous name under the sun...
Date of birth: 10th October, 1995
Star sign: Libra
Parents: Sally and Roly.
Siblings: Too numerous to count! As for littermates, there were 13! Both sexes, in black, yellow and even chocolate!
Favourite food: Favourite? Heck she loves all of it. Leg-of-cow is up near the top of the list I suppose.
Favourite toy: A foot. It used to squeak but the sqwark was taken out a long time ago by a set of savage puppy teeth. Now it is a toe-less plastic foot but Bess loves to carry it around with her.
Annoying habits: Barging into my room, forcing open the sliding door to my wardrobe and stealing my slippers. Always the slippers. Not the old school shoes, not my old runners, but my nice woolly slippers! Plus, this gal is an opportunist. Her natural hunting instinct has not left her, and although she gets a hearty meal every day, she seems to think that she needs to grab all she can get. She will steal any food if she's left in it's vicinity unattended. Hmmm and onto bad habit #3. Eating kitty poop. Bess steals into the cat's room and digs around in the kitty litter until she seeks and destroys her prey. A nice dollop of kitty mess. We tried to get her out of this habit by baiting the kitty mess with tabasco sauce. Bess apparently didn't mind the extra tang and ate the whole thing. Obviously we'll have to try something else..... Not that the list of bad habits ends there! Oh no! She also has been known to jump on G's head if she wants attention! Bess particularly favours this technique at around 7am when she'd like to go outside. And she isn't averse to a little table-top dancing if nobody will feed her! She is happy to leap upon the coffee table and waggle around until somebody pays attention to her, however long that might take.
Buddies: Rory: German Shorthaired Pointer-cross, Herbie (dec.) - Jack Russell Terrier, Toby - Fox Terrier, Jack - German Shepherd, Sam - Pomeranian and Woolie of course - but he's only an on-line buddy.
Favourite pasttimes: Going for a run with Rory, chasing rabbits with Rory, swimming, eating, sleeping, carrying objects in her mouth whilst waggling not only her tail but her entire body, sleeping on the couch and harassing (in a friendly manner of course!) the cat.
Training repertoire: Being a stubborn gal with a mind of her own, although she KNOWS how to do all of the following, chances are Bess will only do so when there is food involved. She is able to: sit, drop, shake hands (paws), wait and heel. She's working on 'roll over'. Contrary to her name she generally won't retrieve. Instead, she'll raise an eyebrow and fix the thrower of the object with an "Ok, you threw it, you get it" kind of stare. She 'carries' when she is in a good mood and wishes to show you a slipper or toy up close; she sometimes goes after a ball and picks it up - but drops it shortly after. Oh but she DOES fetch the dumbbell when she goes swimming.
Favourite treat: Granny's liver treats! Baked with love by her very own 'Granny'.
Highest education achieved: Grade 2, Warrnambool Dog Training School.
