Zelgadiss is the mighty Shamanist magician from the series "The Slayers." Not only is he a very powerful sorcery...well...he's also a Chimera. It's one of the things we love about him! See, a few years ago, Zel was busy working hard trying to become a pwerful sorcery, as well as a pretty kick-ass swordsman. The swordsman thing he could handle himself...but the magic was another story. His grandfather/great-grandfather Rezo the Red Priest came to him and offered Zelgadiss the power he sought, in exchange for services rendered to Rezo. Zel never actually agreed, but Rezo gave Zel "the power" by transforming him into a hybrid of human/stone golem/and blue demon. This form gave Zelgadiss the ability to be a very powerful sorcery, but, unfortunately, it also made him Rezo's puppet. The golem part of Zel gives him his hard-as-rocks (because it is) stone skin. No sword can cut through his skin except for the Hikari no Ken (Sword of Light)...but Gourry has that, so it's all good. The blue demon part of him give him his magic capabilities and his super speed. The human part gives him all the REALLY good stuph ;)
As far as personality goes, well, poor Zelgadiss is very ashamed of himself. He doesn't easily come to grips with the fact that he actually has friends (because he doesn't think he's good enough to have them) and he's very shy and ashamed of his appearance. He hates big cities because of his looks (he thinks everyone stares at him because he's a freak) and he avoids any kind of romantic conversation if it comes up because he certainly doesn't think any girl could ever love him (although Amelia comes pretty close ;) Zel is also extremely intelligent. Probably the smartest in the Slayers team. He thinks up plans instead of just blowing things up and he's generally more calm than the rest of the team. He's basically the exact opposite of Lina.
What do we love about Zel? Have you SEEN this man's BODY?! He's so well-proportioned! He's also just plain cute and I, personally, love anyone who makes me go "awwww, he needs a hug!" Simply because, sometimes, Zel is just so depressing.
