Command and Organization

Our mercenary company follows a strict command structure much like that of the German and Swiss mercenary companies of the 15th and 16th centuries. Among our fighters we have designated ranks given them based on experience and on leadership ablity. This command structure allows our unit to fight to the utmost efficiency during combat.

The highest ranking field officer is that of Captain. This rank is historically accurate for the time period in which we portray our company and is a position of the highest responsibilty while on the field of battle. The Captain gives all orders, positions the unit on the field, directs archery fire and for all purposes holds the lives of the unit in his hands. If the unit is killed unexpectedly it is at the fault of the Captain for he has to be constantly aware of every situation on the battlefield. Currently the position of Captain is held by Lord Jasper Codrington, an 8 year veteran of SCA combat and presently a Squire to Sir Aaron MacGregor of Ansteorra.

The next highest ranking field officer is that of Lieutenant. This position is second-in-command to the Captain. Should the Captain fall in battle, it is the Lieutenant who assumes command of the unit - taking on all responsibilties the Captain once held! The position of Lieutenant is currently held by Lord Kainin Tepesa, a 13 year veteran of SCA combat and an experienced commander in his own right. The remaining ranks, that of Sergeant, Yeoman and Corporal are held by various other members and it is these fighters and archers who form the backbone of the unit iteself.
