Robin & Patrick #3  July 27, 2006 - Jan 23, 2007 - 8 hours

#3A  Patrick and his team go into the O.R. and get ready to operate on the patient with AIDS. Patrick tells his team that if anyone doesn't not feel comfortable helping in the surgery to leave right now because he can't have any distractions when he is performing surgery. Everyone stays there. Patrick is in the middle of the surgery when the anesthesiologist makes a sudden crashing noise and distracts Patrick, who is not happy. The other doctor apologizes and tells Patrick everything is fine. Robin notices Patrick looks anxious and is wincing a little and asks him if he cut himself. Patrick doesn't want to leave the surgery to go check on his finger. Robin tells him he must stop the surgery and get his cut finger cleaned up. Patrick tells her he is fine and needs to finish the surgery. Robin makes him go clean the wound and he takes her advice but as soon as he leaves, the patient's blood pressure drops suddenly and he can't leave her. Robin tells him she will get someone to help and he asks Elizabeth to call for more plasma for the patient.

Patrick finishes the surgery without any more problems and Epiphany assures him they can close up the wound while he goes and cleans his wound. Robin goes over and watches him clean up his finger. She puts on new gloves and washes the wound for him. She tells him that he will need to get tested for HIV as soon as possible. Patrick makes everyone swear not to tell anyone outside of the O.R. what happened to him during the surgery. Robin finds him scrubbing at this wound with hot water and soap after the surgery. Robin has a flashback of when Stone first told her he was HIV positive. She tells Patrick that no amount of washing his finger is going to change the fact that he was exposed to AID. She tries to tell Patrick that she knows how he feels since she couldn't believe she could possibly be HIV-positive. Patrick tries to tune out Robin but she won't let him. She tries to get him to take this seriously since his cut finger was touching the blood of the patient and he was exposed to the AIDS virus. Patrick insists on worrying about his patient first instead of himself.

He checks on the patient after surgery and gives his orders to Epiphany and Elizabeth. Robin looks for him outside of the room. She tells him that he needs to get tested for the virus. He doesn't want to think about it but he is upset by what happened. Robin tells him she knows exactly what he needs right now. She takes him to the docks to get some fresh air and talk. Robin tells him that she hopes that he ends up not having HIV. Patrick realizes this will definitely crimp his social life. Robin tries to joke with him about that but realizes he is just trying to avoid how scared he really is. Robin tells him it will be the longest 6 months of his life just like it was for her. Patrick tells her that she should be happy that he won't be able to sleep with anyone else for 6 months and that she may have been given the commitment from him that she secretly wanted. Robin sits down with him and offers her support while Patrick tears up.

Alan and Robin inform Patrick that he must be tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and C as soon as possible. Alan also tells Patrick that he must begin the anti-viral drugs immediately which he will be required to take for 4 weeks. Elizabeth conducts the blood test for Patrick. Once completed, Patrick thanks Elizabeth for her assistance in the operating room. Alan tells Patrick that he must test again in January. He informs Patrick that most cases will give a positive reading within the first 6 months. Alan leaves the room, and Patrick accidentally knocks over a tray. Robin comes in to check on Patrick and ensure that he is alright. Patrick tells Robin that he could use her company.

Patrick tells Robin that he has never given much thought to his own mortality. He then proceeds to ask Robin what he can expect in the next while. She informs Patrick that he may experience denial, paranoia, anger, regret, fear and then at some point he will experience acceptance to prepare himself for whatever happens next. Robin also suggests that Patrick keep a bag on hand in case he vomits from the meds. Liz informs Patrick that his blood work is in the lab. Patrick asks Alan what he should do now after receiving the medication. Alan informs Patrick that he is to carry on as usual, however take precautions. Alan proceeds to tell Patrick what an exceptional surgeon he is and how GH can not afford to lose him. While Patrick and Alan are talking, Robin recalls Stone finding out about his drug regiment.

Elizabeth went to Patrick and confided that Lucky's a pill-popper and she suspects he is the one stealing the meds form the hospital. Patrick pointed out that Lucky has all the signs of a "dependent" and said he needed to get into rehab. He advised Liz to have a support system in place for her, as well. Lucky arrived at the hospital and caught Liz and Patrick in a hug and he quickly left.

After he was shot down by a nurse, Patrick realized word had spread around the hospital that he was exposed to HIV/AIDS in the operating room. Noah witnessed the exchange and bawled out his son for flirting with another woman in front of Robin. Patrick assured his father that his skirt-chasing days were over and stormed off, leaving it to Robin to fill Noah in on what happened. Patrick went to see the AIDS patient, April, but couldn't carry on a conversation about her case and exited. Robin visited April, who complained about Patrick's bedside matter. Robin came clean about what happened in the O.R., and also disclosed her own HIV status.

Noah located Patrick and apologized, but Drake Junior refused any special care. "I'm not terminal, Dad, so don't treat me like I am," he huffed. Noah gave Patrick a homemade hangover remedy to deal with the vomiting that'll come with the preventative protocol of meds he's on, then told his son he's never been prouder of him. Patrick returned to April's room. She apologized, but he said nothing was her fault. April explained that she got the disease from her drug-using boyfriend. Patrick couldn't cover his genuine concern for April. Later, Patrick told his dad he tried the hangover remedy and it helped. Alan showed up with the results of Patrick's first blood test. Negative. But, he has to continue the protocol and get tested again in six months. Robin explained Patrick's dilemma to Jason. She then confessed that she's flashing back to Stone all over again. Jason reminded her that she's living proof HIV is not a not a death sentence. Robin thanked Jason for all his support through the years.

Patrick overheard Robin talking to the young AIDS patient April. He notices how hard it is for Robin to talk to April about how she contracted HIV and how her first boyfriend Stone died from AIDS. Patrick finds Robert and Anna at the hotel and tells them that he is worried about how Robin is doing and explains about how he operated on a patient with AIDS and cut himself which exposed him to the AIDS virus. He asks that Robert and Anna help Robin who he believes is acting strong but needs them. Robert tells him that he and Anna will take care of their daughter. Patrick leaves them alone.

Anna isn't so sure she can help their daughter and thinks they were lousy parents who weren't around when Robin lost her boyfriend to AIDS and contracted the virus herself. Robert tells her she is too hard on herself and reminds her that Robin loves both of them and they have another chance to be better parents to her now. Anna calls Robin up to meet her outside Kelly's. Robin hugs her since she hasn't seen her in awhile. Anna seems very worried about Robin suddenly and Robin asks her what is going on. Anna tells her that Patrick came by the hotel to talk to her and Robert about the surgery and how he was exposed to the AIDS virus and that he was worried about her because of what happened to her and Stone. Anna tells her that Patrick seems to care about her a lot and only wanted to help. Robin finds herself leaning on Anna for emotional support when she pours her heart out about how scared she is for Patrick and how she knows in her mind that he will be fine she can't stop feeling so scared for Patrick. Anna tells her everything will be fine and that she and Patrick will live long lives.

Robert pays Patrick a visit at the hospital. He apologizes to Patrick about seeming aloof to him earlier at the hotel. He asks Patrick to elaborate on what he said earlier about being exposed to AIDS because he performed surgery on a patient with AIDS. Patrick explains what happened and how he couldn't stop the surgery or the patient would have died and that doctors do that. Robert tells Patrick that at first meeting him he didn't think he was deserving enough to be with his daughter and that he has wanted something to like about him and that now he has shown he deserves Robin and that any family would be lucky to have him become part of their family. Patrick can't help but be touched by Robert's compliments.

Later, Alan approaches Robin at the nurses' station and asks her about April's progress after her surgery. Robin gives him a report of the patient's vitals and is very businesslike. Alan pulls her aside and tells her that she doesn't have to treat this patient if it is too uncomfortable for her. Robin insists she needs to treat this patient and assures Alan she is going to be fine. Patrick watches Robin from afar and notices how strong and brave she is acting. He also overhears her tell Alan that she is going to treat this patient and show Patrick that he can still be a good doctor even with HIV.

Robin is working at the hospital where Lorenzo Alcazar begins bothering her about the whereabouts of where Skye and his unborn child are. Robin informs him that she cannot divulge any information them due to patient-doctor confidentiality. Lorenzo then makes a dig about Robin doing her father's bidding. Robin tells him if he has a problem he should take it up with the chief of staff, and she walks away. Patrick is in the locker room changing as Robin enters, telling him she has been searching everywhere for him. He says if this has to do with the Taylor case, he isn't interested. But then Robin asks him if he wants to have dinner at her place that night? Patrick tries to decline by saying he is busy but will take a rain check. Robin tells him that she checked his schedule, and that he isn't busy. She also says the rain check isn't possible, at least not in her nice quiet apartment because she is moving in with Kelly and Lainey. So Robin asks if he wants to take advantage of the privacy while they still have it, and Patrick sighs, and asks when does she want him? Robin replies ‘almost always.' Patrick tries to suppress a smile as he tries to find out the real time, and Robin tells him in about an hour. Robin leaves, and Patrick shuts his locker loudly, looking worried.

Gwen, Patrick's old bed buddy, starts hitting on Patrick at the hospital, and asks him where he's been? He tells her he's been busy, and she says he can take her out to dinner, but dessert is on her. Patrick then tells her that he was exposed to AIDS in the OR. Gwen looks shocked, and actually takes a step back. She mumbles a couple of pleasant things to say and then hastily makes her exit. Patrick sighs and looks a little upset after she leaves.

At the Nurse's Station, Maxie starts into Liz about her and Patrick. Liz calls her a few choice words and then slaps her. Maxie accuses Liz of cheating on Lucky with Patrick, and asks why she can't give Lucky the attention that Liz has been giving Patrick? Liz tries to start a fight with Maxie, but Patrick comes and breaks them up. Liz calls Maxie a tramp, and threatens to tell Mac about Maxie sleeping with Lucky. Maxie tells her to do what she wants, and stomps away. Patrick tells Liz he is sorry that Maxie and Lucky are sleeping together, and tells Liz that he had seen Lucky and Maxie kissing one night, but he didn't tell her because he didn't want to hurt her. Lucky walks in at that moment and sees Patrick placing a comforting hand on her back, and then leaves the hospital. Patrick leads Liz to the waiting room and asks her what she is going to do, and Liz tells him that it was the pain meds that made him do this, and that she is going to fight for him.

Patrick arrives at Robin's with some wine, and they sit on the couch and being talking about her move with Lainey and Kelly, and how she isn't so sure about it anymore, but she has to continue because already paid the rent. Robin tries to seduce Patrick, but he tells her that he doesn't think they should do this. Patrick tells Robin about his experience with Gwen earlier, and Robin tells him that prejudice and ignorance come in all shapes and sizes. Patrick says he doesn't know if he is in the clear for six more months. Robin asks if he plans to remain celibate for the next six months? She asks if he has ever gone without sex for that long? Patrick tells her he won't sleep with her, and Robin asks if he is afraid of his own HIV status, or hers? Patrick says it's not going to happen and leaves.

Patrick goes back to Robin's apartment and wants to know if he is too late for dinner. Patrick apologizes for walking out on her and tells her that he was just trying to protect her. He informs her that he is concerned that he could be compromising her health and that he could not live with himself if she got sick. Robin tells Patrick that she believed that she only had a few years to live when she saw quickly Stone had passed away. She continues to say that she never thought that she would have lived as long as she has, or become a doctor. Robin and Patrick head to the hospital to enjoy their dinner with April. Patrick manages to relate with April regarding her illness and how it can shut a person in.

Robin and Patrick were getting ready to leave the hospital after having dinner, when Robin said that she wanted to look at April's chart one more time before they left. She handed the picnic basket to Patrick, and as she stepped away, he cut himself with a knife that had been sticking out. When she went to help him, he told her to get away because he didn't want her exposed to his blood. Robin responded by letting him know that she was taking the proper precautions by using gloves. As she was bandaging up his wound, he commented on how in the past he would have been concerned about how the cut would have affected his surgery, and that going through his current situation changed his perspective on life. Robin commented that he had a great attitude, to which he let her know that he was following her example.

Robin arrives to talk to Sonny and tells him that she can't sleep, and Sonny replies that he missed him, too. Sonny also said he knew she would stop by as it is Stone's birthday is in a few days. Sonny and Robin talk about Emily and his Bi-Polar disease and his medication, and Robin tells him Stone would be proud of him. They begin talks about Patrick and how he was exposed to end-stage AIDS and how that is causing Robin to dream about Stone and how much he went through before he died. Robin tells Sonny Patrick's fear is just like Stone's. Sonny asks if Patrick knows about it, and Robin informs him it would be insensitive to keep bringing up Stone. Robin says she admires how Patrick is handling everything, and also tells Sonny about Ms. Sneed trying to kick April Gilbert out. The lights flicker on when Robin and Sonny talk about Stone once again, and Sonny says Stone might be with them after all.

Robin and Patrick are at her door, and they are saying goodbye. They lean in to kiss, and Robin pulls back and invites him to come in. They enter her apartment, kissing passionately, when Patrick pulls away and says he doesn't think they should do it. Robin understands, and lets him know that if he needs to wait, they will, but promises that he won't hurt her. They return to their steamy make-out session on her couch, but Patrick's beeper goes off and he has to call the hospital. It turns out Ms. Sneed has entered April Gilbert's hospital room and is trying to transfer her to county. Patrick leaves alone after he tells Robin to stay and relax, he can handle it and they kiss.

Ms. Sneed is harassing April Gilbert in the hospital when Patrick steps in. Ms. Sneed won't give up on sending April to county hospital because she has no health insurance and is terminal. Patrick says a few words and then forces Ms. Sneed to leave. Patrick and April talk about her illness and Ms. Sneed. Patrick won't allow her to go to county. They joke about how Patrick is only doing this for his ego, and April tells him she understands why Robin is in love with him. April says she also knows that Robin's feelings aren't only one-sided, Patrick loves her back. Patrick tries to change the subject but April won't let him. He tells her that he's scared he'll hurt Robin because of his disease and her already compromised immune system.

April tells Patrick she probably won't make it to Christmas and Patrick tries to keep her hopes up. April asks where he would be if Robin was where April was; would he be by her side or somewhere else? April brings up love again but Patrick brushes her comment off. Patrick says he won't let Robin get to where April is, and he won't desert her. When April asks if it's because of obligation or pity, Patrick tells her it's because she is Robin and he cares for her. April wonders if Robin knows that? Patrick is gone and Ms. Sneed is back to harassing April, but is interrupted by Sonny and his body guards. He begins subtly threatening Ms. Sneed who is obviously afraid of him. Sonny demands that all AIDS patients be treated with respect, including April. Sonny also informs her that he will be paying April's hospital bills and Sonny makes Ms. Sneed apologize to April. Once Ms. Sneed leaves, April tells him she doesn't know why he is paying her bills but she is thankful. He tells her to think of it as a gift from someone she has never met; Stone Cates.

Robin dreams of Stone in her apartment. They are dancing, Robin is telling Stone she is HIV+, and then Stone dying. Robin wakes up with a start. Patrick shows up at Robin's door, and Robin asks what's wrong? He tells her that she matters, and has from the beginning. What he feels for her he has never felt for any other woman in his entire life, and in time, he may love her. Patrick leaves before Robin can reply. She shuts the door with a smile on her face.

Robin has lunch with Anna outside Kelly's. Anna asks her about her relationship with Patrick. Robin doesn't want to go into it with her and when Anna can't help but ask more nosy questions, Robin makes the excuse she has to get back to work. Meanwhile, Patrick pays Sonny a visit to ask him about how he ended up finding out about his patient, April and paying her bills. Sonny tells him that Robin came by to visit because she was thinking about Stone and how his birthday is coming up soon. Sonny fills Patrick in on what Robin told him about April and he decided to intervene on her behalf and help April. Sonny sings Robin's praises and Patrick can't help but agree with him.

Later, Patrick shows up at Kelly's for lunch and meets with Anna, who asked him to meet her there. Anna tells him she admires him for what he did for that patient and risking his life like that. She is friendly at first but starts to ask him about his intentions toward Robin and wonders if he is worthy enough for her daughter. She asks him if he is a womanizer still and worries that he shares the same qualities as Robin's father, Robert. Robin walks in and stops their conversation and apologizes to Patrick for her mother's interrogation of him. Patrick doesn't seem to mind and tells Anna that he was happy to talk to her. Robin asks Anna to back off of Patrick and admits that Patrick told her the night before about how he could find himself loving her. Anna tells her that he is already in love with her. Robin tells her to stop interfering in a loving way. Later, Robin apologizes again for her mother and thinks that Anna is very different from herself. Patrick agrees there are differences between them but that she shares a lot of amazing qualities with Anna. This touches Robin's heart.

Robin and Patrick are in April's hospital room discussing the success of her brain surgery. They are also discussing her arrangements to be discharged from the hospital. April is concerned that she will be released to a shelter, but Robin tells her that she is going to her apartment and that Robin is going to be moving into a loft with friends. April is very grateful for their kindness despite the fact that she may have infected Patrick.

Afterwards, Patrick and Robin are in Robin's apartment moving her out and preparing it for April's arrival. They are talking about how much April will love it. Patrick tells Robin that he is not crazy with her living with a bunch of girls. They begin to kiss but Patrick if afraid of infecting her with another strain of HIV. Robin lays his fears to rest by reminding him that he has tested negative, and they have taken all necessary precautions. Robin adds that she has been playing these odds for ten years and has learned that sometimes you have to take a risk. They passionately kiss.

April is in her hospital room writing. A doctor asks if she is okay and she tells him that she needs to finish. He walks away and her pen and notebook fall as her monitors go off. In bed, Robin and Patrick talk. Patrick is admiring Robin's courage in facing what she does everyday with her illness. He tells her that she has more courage than he could ever dream of. Patrick's beeper goes off first, then Robin's. Robin calls the hospital. She looks up at Patrick and says we'll be right there. She hangs up the phone and holds Patrick. At the hospital, Patrick and Robin learn that April is dead. They are told that her due to her advanced stage of AIDS, she bled out and there was nothing they could do. Robin asks Patrick if he believes in synchronicity. Patrick calls it meaningful coincidence. Robin remarks, "April showed up in our hospital, you exposed yourself to HIV to save her life, and then she dies on Stone's birthday." Robin wonders what the meaning of that could be.

Robin and Patrick talk with Alan after April is declared dead. Alan tells them what caused her actual death. Robin asks Alan how many times he has talked to people about AIDS patients and how they died. Robin gets upset and walks away. Patrick finds her on the docks. She talks about April and how her death has hit her hard. Patrick ends up following her home to her apartment. He asks her if she is going to invite him inside. She tells him she is very tired and not in the mood for company and tries to push him away. He invites himself in anyway. She tells him he can help her unpack her things since April won't be moving into her apartment. Patrick tries to help her cope with April's death but Robin makes it difficult by acting like they were fooling themselves into believing that AIDS doesn't kill people in the end. Patrick worries when Robin wonders how long she really has left and if she has been in denial about it. Patrick reminds her that she has been his inspiration since he got exposed to the virus and she can't give up the fight now. Robin starts crying again and Patrick comforts her.

Patrick and Robin talk about the view outside her apartment window when Robin mentions April. They hear someone messing with the locks on Robin's door when her mother opens the door, her lock picking set in her mouth. She realizes she is interrupting and knocks on the door, even though she is already inside. Anna tells them she noticed Patrick's car outside last night, and again this morning and she wanted to bring them a gift basket. Robin informs her there is a doorbell but Anna didn't want to use it because it was too early and it would be rude. Patrick leaves to make arrangements for April. Robin tells Anna April died. Robin tells Anna how April died, and how Robin feels helpless and is tired of fighting AIDS. She just wanted to help April, and show her she wasn't alone. Anna tries to say a few comforting words, and Robin tells her she is happy Anna is there and that she is her mom.

Robin and Patrick are at the hospital and she apologizes for her mother's behavior, but Patrick knows on some level she likes her mother's attention. Patrick wonders if they talked about him, but Robin tells him they talked about April. Robin knows her mother is scared for her. Patrick tells her he thinks they should cremate April and spread her ashes. April once told Patrick about a place in Arizona where she wished she could be. Robin tells him she did that with Stone, and that she thinks it's a good idea. Patrick gets paged and tries to get Robin to consult on the Patrick, but she doesn't want to and leaves to go to the lab. At the nurse's station, Patrick tells Robin he wants her to consult on the patient, but Robin doesn't want to help, and she doesn't want to be patronized. Patrick tries to get her to reconsider, trying to make it about him to change her mind, but she still won't budge. She kisses him and walks off, and once around the corner she breaks down, crying.

Patrick inquires as to why Robin has not been returning his calls. Patrick informs her that he knows that she has been reviewing her own mortality but that she must not abandon her patients. Robin tells Patrick that she is tired of putting a positive spin on things for him and her patients. Ms. Sneed provides Sonny with the possessions and informs him of April's cause of death. Sonny informs Ms. Sneed that she is very efficient but he feels that she does not have one ounce of empathy. He begins to tell her about Stone and informs her that she would have turned her back on him. He tells her that he had the AIDS wing created to ensure that patients had a place to seek refuge with caring professionals. Sonny threatens that should she ever turn her back on another AIDS patient he will see to it that she never has a position in health care again.

Sonny looks through April's possessions and finds a letter for Robin. Sonny tells Robin that April was writing the letter when she passed away. Robin is brought to tears when she reads that April thanks all of them for not making her feel alone. The letter also notes that it was addressed to her instead of Patrick because Robin knows what is like to have the "monster" living inside of her. Robin thanks Sonny for what he did for April and how amazing she thought it was. She tells him that he really made April feel important.

Patrick shows Alexis her x-rays and what area will need to be removed. Thanking Patrick for his excellent bedside manner, she asks him what her odds are of making it through the cancer alive. Patrick informs her that she is right to start making arrangements as there is a good chance that she may not beat it. Patrick and Liz talk about Lucky at the hospital, and Patrick informs her that Lucky should be in rehab. Lucky is lying to both himself and Liz if he says otherwise. Patrick tells Liz about his own father's battle with addiction. He tells her that addiction is a disease, and it can be fatal, and it affects everyone around the addict. Patrick learned all of this at a meeting he attended because of his father and it saved his life. Lucky interrupts and asks if everything is all right. Patrick gently tells Lucky he should be in rehab, but Lucky says he has his wife to help him through his withdrawals. Patrick backs off and leaves. Lucky doesn't like that Liz is airing their dirty laundry to Patrick, but she said she only did it because she is proud of him. He tells her he loves and trusts her, then leaves.

Robin and Patrick arrive and inform Alexis that they are ready to prepare her for surgery. Patrick informs Alexis that Noah is unavailable to perform the surgery, but that he is willing to step in to take his place. Patrick tells both Sam and Alexis of his exposure to AIDS and that his initial results have already shown up negative. Patrick suggests that should she be uncomfortable about him performing the surgery, it is not too late to call in another doctor. As Alexis was on the surgery table, she asked Patrick and Robin to let her daughters know that she loved them. Patrick tried to let her know that she would make it, and when she insisted that they humor her, Robin agreed to make sure that her daughters knew what she had said. Patrick wheeled Alexis back into her room after the surgery while Ric and Sam were waiting. He let them know that the surgery went as planned and that the oncologist would let them know about the results. When Alexis woke up she saw both her husband and daughter waiting for her. Sam gave them some privacy, were Ric let her know that while he has let her down in the past, he was not going to go anywhere, and that he believed that she was going to beat this. Alex let him know that while going into surgery she did not believe that she would wake up, but that now she believed she would beat this as well.

Patrick searched Robin out after the surgery at the pier. He asked her why she had left so quickly after the surgery, and Robin let him know that Alexis's desire to have them tell her daughters that she loved them brought out her desire to have children. She had suppressed this desire for a long time but at times felt the need to foster a relationship with a child like what she had with her mother. Patrick encouraged her to take the chance if that was what she wanted. He let her know that he had been wrong by calling her a coward, and that having been exposed to the possibility to living with HIV, made him realize how brave she actually was. He encouraged her to do whatever she desired to do, and that she would make a great mother.

Luke ran into Robin in the hall outside of Laura's room. Robin was informs Luke there is a "radical new medication" that might help Laura. She thought it was worth a shot and gives Luke her card and asks him to consider it as a treatment option. Patrick tells Robin that Laura had been unresponsive to any of his tests, and that there was no hope for recovery. Luke came by, and Robin pressed on him the possibility of a new drug treatment, that it may help Laura, and that the best possibility would be that she would recover fully and permanently. Patrick tried to have Luke understand that the treatment was dangerous, and make her require to relive the trauma of killing her father, which might ultimately kill her. In the end, Luke decided that he needed to meet the doctor who had developed this new treatment, before agreeing to anything. Before leaving the two doctors, he told them that they must not let anyone know what they had talked about.

Sam and Nik arrive at the hospital and find Robin and Patrick for an update on Alexis. Robin informs the two that Alexis's lung has collapsed and that they need to perform surgery to insert a tube into the chest to relieve some of the pressure. She informs them that Alexis is weakened by the cancer and the pneumonia. Nik asks Robin and Patrick if this means that she may not survive the surgery. Patrick informs them that Alexis might die if they do not allow them to operate. Nik agrees to sign off on the paperwork permitting them to perform the surgery. Patrick informs Nik that he has made the right decision and that she will be in good hands.

Patrick was acting short-tempered. Robin felt his forehead and realized he had a fever. Patrick starts to worry that it means he could be HIV+. Robin takes his temperature and confirms he is running a fever. She tells him that running tests doesn't mean he is HIV+ and that he could just have the flue. Alan approaches them at the nurses' station and asks them what they called him for. Patrick tells him he has flu-like symptoms and is running a fever. Alan takes his blood for tests and tells him that they will know by tomorrow if he is HIV+ or not but feels there is a very good chance he isn't since he got on the protocols as soon as he was exposed to the virus. Alan leaves him alone to talk to Robin. Robin tells him that she understands how he feels and that despite the fact that Alan is a very good, compassionate doctor, he doesn't know what he is going through waiting to see if he is HIV+ or not. Patrick reminds her that she does know what he is going through.

Patrick confides in Robin that he isn't up to the challenge of being HIV+. Robin tells him that this isn't a marathon but a disease that he will have to live through if he has it and that he helped her come out of her cocoon by not allowing her to hide from life and she is going to return the favor. She tells Patrick that she isn't going to allow him to go home and spend the whole night worrying about whether he is HIV+ and go research his symptoms and drive himself crazy. She tells him she is taking him home to give him some T.L.C. and distract him from his thoughts. He asks her what he did to deserve someone as fantastic as her in his life. Robin tells him that flattery will get him everything.

Patrick is awoken by Kelly working in the kitchen. Kelly informs him that she was not aware that he had spent the night and begins to flirt with him when Robin arrives home with some chicken soup. Robin warns her to be careful as she may not be able to handle what he has. Robin hands him the soup, only to have him ask her if she will spoon feed him. Robin tells him that it's not her style and says that it would be more Kelly's approach. Kelly begins to feed Patrick when Lainey walks out and begins to coddle him as well. Robin reminds the two women of their appointments for the day finally leaving Patrick alone with herself. Patrick receives a call from the lab with his recent HIV test results. He contacts the lab and is informed that his results are still negative. Patrick suggests that they should celebrate.

Elizabeth is standing outside an Al-Anon meeting debating whether to go in. Patrick walks up and tells Elizabeth that the first meeting is always the hardest. He then goes on to say that the meetings saved his life, his career, and his relationship with his father. Patrick offers to go to the first meeting with Elizabeth. After the meeting Elizabeth and Patrick are talking, and Elizabeth tells Patrick that she felt that she could protect Lucky and save him if she was strong enough.

Robin arrived at Laura's room and told Lucky about an upcoming experimental treatment they were doing on Laura, and Lucky was hopeful he'd get his mother back. Alone together, Robin and Patrick argued over that experimental treatment. Soon after they shared a tender moment but they were interrupted when Lorenzo came and threatened Robin. He wanted her to tell Robert that he wanted his child. After said threat, the mobster exited. Later, Robin overheard Patrick advise Luke against the experimental treatment and the duo fought again.

Lorenzo had a couple of his men grab Robin to scare her. Lorenzo threatened her to get her father to bring back Skye or there would be consequences. Patrick came up after Lorenzo left and she told him what happened. He asked her to go to Paris with him to meet with the doctor about Laura's condition. He wanted to be convinced about this new treatment. She refused to go with him because of her work with a patient. Patrick called Robert to look after Robin while he was gone. Robert showed up at the hospital and Robin was upset with Patrick for calling him. She later apologized to him and they both admitted they cared about each other.

Down on the docks, Lorenzo overhears Robert on his cell phone pretending he is talking to Skye. Lorenzo takes the phone from him and tries to talk to Skye. Robert told him that he wasn't going to tell him where Skye was. Lorenzo had his men come out with guns to threaten Robert. Robin later found her father laying on the docks after having been beaten up. Lucky went to the hospital looking for Elizabeth and ran in to Patrick. Patrick told him to go back to the clinic and work on his recovery. It was the only chance he had to work on his marriage.

Robin finds a badly beaten Robert lying on the docks. She checks him over and demands to know if Lorenzo Alcazar was behind this as Lorenzo is lurking in the shadows listening. Robin asks Robert to tell end all of this and just tell Lorenzo where Skye is so they can talk. Robert refuses to give in to Alcazar and Robin gets upset with him.

At General Hospital, Robert is checked out by another doctor who orders a CT scan. Detective Rodriguez comes into Robert's hospital room to question Robert about who assaulted him. Robert is upset that Robin calls the police and he refuses to say if Alcazar was behind the attack. Robert says he accidentally fell down the stairs. Detective Rodriguez apologetically tells Robin that there is nothing that he can do if Robert won't press charges and he leaves. Robin is frustrated with Robert and threatens to call Anna to talk some sense into Robert. Robert talks Robin out of this and says Anna does not need or want to be bothered with her ex-husbands mishaps. Robin tells Robert that he is supposed to be making up for all the lost time with her and not putting his life in danger for other people's problems and that she does not want to spend all of her time worrying about him and wondering if he will be killed, and she walks out of his room.

Robin goes to see Jason for advice on what to do about Alcazar. Jason warns Robin that Alcazar is more dangerous now than ever before. Robin is worried that just when she gets her father back she will lose him again. Robin tells Jason that she thought she was doing everything right in her life but lately she feels like everything is falling apart. She expresses her concern over Patrick's exposure to HIV and how it is affecting her. Jason comments that Patrick seems to make Robin happy. Robin acknowledges that she is happy but that she feels like she is walking on eggshells waiting for it all to end. Jason tells Robin that when you find someone who makes you happy like that you should hold on to it. Robin advises Jason that he needs to take his own advice.

Robin goes back to the hospital and apologizes to Robert. The doctor come back and tells Robert that his CT scan was fine and Robert asks if he can travel much to Robin's dismay. The doctor reluctantly clears Robert to travel. Robin is upset that Robert is going to go away and Robert's response to her is that he would not be a very good father if he didn't stand up for what he believes in. Robin protests that Robert is just going to lead Robert right to Skye and Robert tells her that he has no intention of doing that and that he is planning on leading Alcazar on a wild goose chase. Patrick runs into Lucky at General Hospital as he is leaving. Patrick tells Lucky to go back to rehab to work on his recovery because that his him only chance with his wife. Lucky responds that nothing is going to stop him form getting his family back.

Robert calls Robin. Robin runs into Luke on the docks. Robin asks him how his trip to Paris went and if he liked what the doctor said about Laura's case. Luke tells her he was very pleased with what the doctor had to say. Luke feels that this is the first time that there has been any hope for Laura to recover and thanks Robin for making this possible. He also tells her that Patrick listened to the doctor but felt there was not real scientific evidence that supports using this experimental drug on Laura. Luke hands her a little wrapped gift and tells her that Patrick asked him to give it to her from him. Robin is touched that Patrick remembered her birthday.

Robert shows up soon after to complain about Alcazar and how he found out where Skye was because she called Alan. Luke figures Alcazar had a trace put on the phones at the Quartermaine estate. Luke tells Robert he is going to go look for Skye and save her from Alcazar. Robert feels he should go help him since she was his assignment. Luke tells him that he should go find her himself because she is not an assignment to him. Robert worries about Skye as well and the two men plan to hatch a plan to stop Alcazar. Robin suggests that they let the police handle this themselves. Robert and Luke smile at Robin and laugh at such a suggestion. Robert tells Robin that he didn't forget her birthday. Robin tells them she has to leave and suggests they are too old to be hatching plans against Alcazar. Robert promises to be careful. Robert and Luke talk about how they can stop Alcazar. Luke has an idea and agrees to fill Robert in on it.

Robert shows up at the hospital and surprises Robin with a gift. She tells him he didn't have to get her a gift. He swears that he bought her the gift a couple of weeks ago and takes his receipt out to prove it to her. Robin insists he doesn't have to show her the receipt. Robin opens the gift and it turns out to be a bracelet. Robin laughs and Robert thinks something is wrong with it. Robin tells him that Patrick got her the same exact gift and that maybe Anna was right, that she is dating a man exactly like her father. Robert points out that isn't exactly a bad thing. Robin agrees. They share a hug and Robert tells her he wants to have dinner with her soon.

When Patrick returned from Paris to a smoochy Robin, she asked if the doctor can bring Laura back? Epiphany interrupted their embrace to tell him a certain patient was requesting him. Turned out Mr. Williams was HIV-positive and heard Patrick is sympathetic. Patrick told Robin he's getting a reputation for sensitivity. Epiphany interrupted another embrace with another patient request.

Patrick plans to operate on another patient with AIDS. Noah hears about it and is very concerned. He asks Patrick not to do the surgery and put himself at potential risk again for being exposed but Patrick insists on doing it. Noah tries to go around him and has his surgical team put in place. Patrick argues with him about it. Noah accuses him of taking on high-risk activities because he is addicted to the challenge. Patrick feels that he is the best person to do the surgery. Robin feels caught in the middle. She tells Patrick that she has to agree with Noah that Patrick likes to do high-risks things as part of his nature but disagrees with Noah about trying to go around things to do the surgery because it is Patrick's patient and he makes the decisions for him. Noah ends up storming off in a huff in frustration.

#3B  October 23, 2006 - Robin and Patrick are in the hospital room of a patient, Mr. Billings. They are discussing his surgery with him and reassure him that he is in good hands and that Patrick is a fabulous surgeon. Mr. Billings refuses to sign a consent form once he learns that Patrick was exposed to AIDS. Patrick tries to reassure Mr. Billings that while he was cut in the OR and exposed to AIDS, he has tested negative twice so far and he is on the PEP protocol. Mr. Billings doesn't care about this and refuses to allow Patrick to perform the surgery. Mr. Billings becomes even more upset when he finds out that Robin is HIV +. Alan walks into the room and Mr. Billings demands that another surgeon perform the surgery. Alan advises him that Dr. Richardson was scheduled to assist and that he can perform the surgery. Mr. Billings tells Alan that he wants Dr. Richardson to perform the surgery. Robin tells Mr. Billings that he is risking his health because Dr. Richardson is not as good a surgeon as Dr. Drake. Mr. Billings doesn't care and tells them that he is willing to take the risk. Patrick and Robin are talking in the hall outside the patient's room and Robin is upset at how the patient reacted.

Later Patrick invites Robin to go on a picnic with him since his afternoon is now free. Robin is upset because Patrick compared her concern for his safety to Mr. Billings refusal to allow Patrick to operate. Patrick explains to Robin that he feels like people who have HIV and AIDS need his help and that he enjoys pushing the envelope and taking risks to help them. As they are talking, Alan walks up and informs them that there were complications in the surgery and Mr. Billings passed away on the operating table. Robin feels like it was a pointless waste of a human life and Patrick realizes that is why Robin is a researcher and not a surgeon. Robin agrees and points out that she could not deal with a patient refusing care that they needed because they were afraid of getting HIV or AIDS. Patrick admits that he judged Robin too quickly and he apologizes for this. Robin accepts his apology and she apologizes to Patrick for letting her fear get in the way of what he does best. Patrick tells Robin that he understands why she worries about him and he admits that he likes it when she worries about him. He tells Robin that when he looks at her he realizes how fortunate he is to have her in his life. Robin agrees and they share a romantic kiss.

Robin was saddened that there had been no change with Laura's catatonia, and resented Patrick's indifference in the matter. However, abiding by Luke's wishes, Robin kept silent about possibly using the wonder drug LS-49 when Nikolas came to visit. Patrick told Robin that she's too close to this case and needs to resign. Luke then showed up and asked, "When can we start Laura on the treatment?" He told Robin to go ahead with it. Lulu needs her mother, he reasoned. "Damn the odds!" He kissed Laura on the head, walked out of the room and told Robin and Patrick, "Let's do it!" Luke took full responsibility and as Robin prepped the dosage, he told Laura to, "Hold on tight, Angel. Here we go!"

Robin administers the experimental drug to Laura through her IV. Luke tells Laura what Robin is doing and then asks Robin and Patrick how long it will take to get a reaction from Laura. Robin tells him that it should be soon. Lulu, Lucky, and Nikolas show up to find out what is going on. Robin and Patrick explain the experimental drug and what it is expected to do. Nikolas is not pleased that he was not informed of the drug and its side effects. Robin and Patrick explain the side effects to them. Nikolas asks Robin and Patrick why they didn't tell him what was going on when he was there the other day visiting Laura. Robin tells Nikolas that Luke didn't want any of them to know in case the drug didn't work.

Nikolas points out that Luke is not Laura's next of kin, her children are and they should have been notified first. Nikolas, Lulu, and Lucky barge into Laura's room to see her. Robin tries to stop them from disrupting Laura or trying to stop the medication from being administered. Nikolas insists they stop giving Laura the medicine and tries to pull the I.V. out of Laura. Luke stops him by grabbing him by the arms and warning him not to stop what they are doing. Lucky speaks up and tells them that he is for trying the new drug and points out that Laura would want them to try the drug on her even if there was a good chance it wouldn't work on her.

Later, everyone is disappointed when Laura doesn't respond to the medicine within the time frame the doctors expect her to. Robin confides in Patrick that she should never have told Luke about the drug and promised not to tell the others about it. Robin examines Laura and sees no difference. Later as Luke is leaving her room, Laura shocks Luke when she calls out his name.

Patrick examines Laura and said she is doing surprisingly well. Luke was excited telling Robin about when she woke up. He told her what she remembers so far. Robin told him that the large time gap can be unsettling to her so she will need a psychiatrist. Robin and Patrick came and told them that Laura was awake. Luke and Robin show up to see Laura in her room. They are surprised to discover that she is not in her room and none of the staff have seen her. Nikolas shows up soon after and they tell him that Laura took off. Robin asks Luke more about what caused the initial trauma in Laura to begin with. Luke and Nikolas tell her that Laura accidentally killed one of her stepfather's mistresses and explain how Rick Webber gave her a sedative of some kind back when it happened and she repressed the memory all those years ago. Robin gets a call on her cell-phone from one of the staff. She tells them that one of the groundskeepers saw Laura leave about an hour ago. Robin shows up at the hospital and asks Laura if she is okay. Laura tells her she is feeling great and just wants to be free to move and do what she wants for right now and tells her to call Luke and let him know she is okay.

Patrick fretted that he and Robin have become predictable, so she surprised him by taking him to the Star. Patrick used gambling to demonstrate to Robin that taking risks is fun. Patrick and Robin are having a good time gambling and flirting with each other. As they are making a playful bet, their pagers go off simultaneously and they are called into the hospital. Patrick asks Robin to consult on surgery that he is going to perform on a patient who has full blown AIDS and who was assaulted. Robin agrees to the consult if Patrick lets someone else operate as the surgery is much more complicated than the one he did on April. Robin is concerned that this surgery is very delicate and that Patrick is unnecessarily risking another exposure to HIV. Patrick is furious with Robin and he storms off after telling her that she can scrub in or not but he is going to do the surgery.

Later, after the surgery, Patrick grabs Robin and pulls her aside to talk to her. He angrily advises her that she was out of line for trying to undermine him in the OR. Robin defends herself and tells him that she was only making a suggestion to help the patient. Patrick lets Robin know that he is the surgeon and that when he is operating he is in charge of everything. Robin sarcastically apologizes for caring about him. Patrick tells Robin that they need to keep their personal lives out of the OR. He tells her that she shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that she can tell him what to do just because he is in love with her. Robin is stunned and demands to know what he just said. Patrick tells her that she heard him, and then he repeats that he loves her.

At the hospital as Patrick declared his love to Robin, she felt that it was just a ploy to get out of the argument that they were having. She stormed out saying that they needed to act like they never had this discussion. She went back to the apartment and shared her frustration with Lainey and Kelly. She let them know that she was afraid because of the risks that Patrick takes with his surgeries but that she loved him.

Robin shares wtih Lainey and Kelly her frustrations about Patrick taking endless chances and he gets some kind of a rush over taking risks. She shares with her friends that he told her that he loved her! She says that she loves him too but she was so afraid that she stomped all over Patrick's feelings. She laments her own fear of taking chances, and that her fears most likely prevented any chance of her and Patrick truly loving each other and he will probably not ever want to talk to her again! She says she only loved two other men in her life, Stone who she lost, and Jason who she lost due to his need to live a life of constant danger, that she can't live like that. She fears that Patrick is a risk taker, not unlike Jason, and she doesn't know if she can bear to standby and watch as he takes risk after risk. They heard a song wafting through the air and Robin comments that her and Patrick were just listening to that song the other day. When Kelly went to the window to investigate, she tells Robin that she has to come to the window. Patrick stands waiting in the courtyard below with a huge bouquet of flowers. She thanks him for the flowers and says that they are gorgeous. He asks her to listen to him as he pours out his heart, "I love you, not maybe, not possibly, not someday, right now, tonight. The fact is I have loved you for a long time. I don't even know when it started. Maybe it was during the epidemic when I realized that I could lose you, or maybe when you saw me through my father's transplant, the days are a blur after I got stuck with the needle but I remember your voice, you were calm, you held my hand the whole time and I realized that I need you, I trust you, I admire you. You can be wrong a lot of the times and you can drive me crazy a lot of the times but I love you completely! I just thought you should know."

Robin sighs as he says this, "You were right from the start. I'm afraid to love again as I don't know how to love anyone just a little bit, the man that I love, I love him completely and if I lose him again......" He tells her that he understands that it is scary. She admits that when she felt herself getting too close, she would pick an argument to cause distance between them, but now she didn't want to do that as all she has to show for her hiding out is loneliness. She observes that is a sad wasteful way to live. She takes a deep breath and dives in, "I think you are amazing, and brillant, and your also funny, and charming and your my best friend. I love you!" He tells her he has known for a long time but it is nice to hear.

After a night of making love, Patrick made Robin breakfast. They were both pleased that Kelly and Lainey had cleared out of the apartment. Robin recounted Patrick's grand romantic gesture from the day before and was tickled when he made her favorite breakfast, French Toast. It was delicious. Robin cleaned up and they exchanged, "I love you"s again and kissed. Patrick went to work and Robin filled in her roomies about her Dr. McDreamboat. At the hospital, Epiphany tried to sass Patrick but he smiled and said he knows she's happy for he and Robin. Dr. Scorpio arrived at the hospital and Patrick pulled her into the supply closet for a smooch (and more!)

Robin and Patrick are paged to the E.R. Robin is concerned when Sam brought and she asks Epiphany about her status. Ric steps in and tells Robin that Sam was sedated because she got a little agitated when she was arrested. Robin voices her concerns with Patrick that something isn't right about the whole Sam situation. Patrick agrees and suggests she call Mac to find out what is going on. Robin doesn't want to interfere and thinks Mac will call her if he becomes concerned and needs information from her. She suggest Patrick call Noah for advice on his next surgery and points out that it isn't a door that she wants to open.

Patrick and Professor Pete are having a beer at Jake's as they reminisce about their college friendship. Patrick reveals that he has fallen in love with Robin and Pete is not happy about this news. Pete mentions a deal they made in college that if one of them gets too far gone into a relationship the other would pull him out with a wild guys only trip to Vegas. Patrick insists to Pete that he is in love and blissfully happy as Robin joins them at Jake's. Pete shares his skepticism with Robin that there is no way Patrick has changed from the commitment- phobic ladies man that he was in college. Pete is dismayed to learn that not only did Patrick say "I Love You" first, but he did it while serenading Robin. Pete and Robin banter back and forth for a few minutes about love and then Pete decides to leave. Robin told Patrick that Laura had summoned her, and she dreads telling Laura the bad news about her condition. When Robin arrived at Laura's home, Laura told her about her shaky memory and invited Robin to her wedding to Luke.

On a beautiful day, Luke and Laura exchange vows. The priest asks if there is anyone who believes they shouldn't be wed? Tracy is about to stand up to object but Monica trips her as she tries to walk over to the altar. Tracy falls flat on her face and is sprawled out on the aisle. Alice picks her up and carries her out of the reception. Laura watches them in concern and asks Luke to look at what is going on. Luke refuses to look at Tracy and what happened and tells her he has tunnel vision right now and wants to get on with the ceremony. Laura sees Helena from across the altar but then Helena disappears. Laura loses her train of thought at first, and Robin and Patrick worry that she is going to start relapsing during the wedding. Laura gives her vows to Luke and the two are pronounced husband and wife. They share a kiss and everyone applauds. Luke proposes a toast to Laura and thanks their friends and family for sharing their day together. Leslie orders all the single women to get up and get ready for the bride to throw the bouquet. Maxie pushes her way to front of the single women and catches the bouquet. Laura turns around and sees that it is Maxie and isn't too pleased.

Patrick arrives to examine Laura and he tells the Spencers that she was slipping back into her illness and that there was nothing that could be done. Patrick returned to the hospital and told Robin about Laura's condition. As Robin expressed her sadness that she would not have more time, Patrick said that he understood why she had been so persistent about the treatment. He saw a grace and graciousness in Laura that was remarkable. Laura is back at Shadybrook and Luke says goodbye once again.

Robin and Sonny reminisced about Stone on the anniversary of his death. She recalled Laura treating one of his cuts, and how much he enjoyed bungee-jumping. Sonny assured her she gave Stone the best summer of his life. Robin feared she let Stone down because she built up Laura's "cure" to be more than it was. She confessed that Patrick admitted he loves her, but she didn't feel she could tell Patrick everything about Stone. Meanwhile, Epiphany told Patrick she didn't know where Robin went, but she will tell him if she calls. Maxie eavesdropped as Epiphany said Elizabeth left early to celebrate Lucky's first day back at work. Robin lamented that Nikolas is avoiding her, but Sonny assured her that giving Laura and her family a wedding day was worth it. She turned out better than Stone could have imagined, so she should let herself be happy. Later, Patrick was leaving Robin a voicemail just as Sonny walked into GH and told him she needs help. Robin was flashing back to Stone and Sonny when Patrick found her. She explained about Stone, and he was unsure about competing with a ghost. She insisted she deceived the Spencers, so she's no longer handing out false hope. Patrick wondered why he fell in love with her right before this crisis of faith but he's not giving up on her. They embraced.

Robin still feels guilty about getting the Spencer family's hopes up about Laura instead of telling them the truth, that Laura's recovery was very temporary and beats herself up for it. Lucky shows up at the locker room to track down Robin. Robin apologizes to him for giving the family false hope about Laura. Lucky tells her she has nothing to apologize for and that he cherished the short time he had with his mother. Patrick overhears them talking and is worried about Robin. Lucky tells her he stopped by to ask her if she has heard or seen Jason since he trusts her and may have come to her for treatment when he was shot. Robin admits that she would have helped Jason but she hasn't seen or heard from him and doesn't expect to. Lucky reminds her that Jason is a wanted fugitive and that she needs to notify him if she hears from Jason. Robin doesn't expect to hear from Jason but agrees to cooperate with the police. Patrick comes into the locker room and tells Robin to stop beating herself up over what happened to Laura and that Lucky doesn't blame her for what happened and that if he had a chance to spend a short time with his late mother he would take it. Robin thinks Lucky is just being gracious. She tells Patrick that she is going to be more like him, tell the truth to her patients and be less emotionally involved with them. Patrick thinks she is reacting to what happened to Laura.

Later, Patrick talks to some parents about their son, who has a brain tumor. He tells them that he can perform the surgery to remove the tumor. He introduces them to Robin. Robin tells them that the surgery has only a 35% success rate for getting rid of the tumor. She also gives them discouraging news about the effectiveness of drug therapies for their son's condition and that his condition is terminal. Patrick confronts Robin about her poor bedside manner with his patient's parents. Robin tells him she was being honest with them because she didn't want to give them false hope about their son's chances of surviving this brain tumor. Patrick tells her if she is going to act this way he wants her to stay the hell away from his patients from now on.

Professor Pete stops by General Hospital to invite Patrick out for a drink. Patrick is still very upset by Robin's new fatalistic attitude and he vents his frustration to Pete. Pete doesn't offer much helpful advice other than telling Patrick that he should get out while he still can. Patrick tells Pete that he understands why Robin is reacting this way based on all the loss she has experienced in her life, and that he wants to do whatever he can to help her.

Robin responds to Patrick's page and gives him attitude and wants to know if this is part two of his reprimand. She gets that he wants her to stay away from his patients as God forbide she tell them the truth about their prognosis. He retorts, "A little honesty would be refreshing because right now all I hear is self-pity....You hate the fact that you couldn't save Laura. You got smacked in the face with your own limitations and now your throwing a temper tantrum. It was never in your power to save Laura and that is humbling, obviously humility is not something you do very well." She sarcastically thanks him for that assessment of her shortcomings as a doctor and as a human being and she stomps off. He goes after her and tells her that he is sorry, but she doesn't believe it. She snarks, "You're sorry that I resent your condenscending attitude towards my professional judgement." He tells her he is sorry that she was hurt. She say this is a professional disagreement that he doesn't believe she should tell patients the full truth. He observes that she is acting out of her pain and grief and allowing her emotions to influence how she is treating patients and that is not professional. She suggests that he file a complaint with the hospital board. He tries again to tell her that he is just trying to help her. She tells him she doesn't want his help and just wants him to stay away and walks off again.

Robin showed up at Patrick's apartment and apologized for interfering with his patient. She assured him that she'd keep their professional and personal issues separate. Patrick reaffirmed his love and happily accepted her apology. They then made up a few rules for their burgeoning relationship and kissed. Noah approaches Robin and Patrick at the nurses' station and seems upset. He thinks Patrick talked to one of his patients and persuaded him not to have brain surgery. Patrick has no idea what he is talking about. Robin steps in and admits she was the one who talked to his patient, not Patrick. Noah thinks she is covering for Patrick but Patrick explains to him that Robin has changed her approach to medicine by insisting on telling every patient the brutal truth about their conditions and treatments. Noah can't believe Robin would do something like that and thinks Patrick has influenced her in some way. Patrick tries to explain to Noah that Robin's behavior has radically changed because of what happened recently with Laura Spencer.

Alexis meets up with her oncologist. He tells her that he talked to the family court judge about her ability to take care of her daughters physically while going through chemotherapy and that he voiced his concerns with the judge. Alexis totally disagrees with his professional medical opinion. She notices Robin near the nurses' station and asks her to give her a physical so she can get a second medical opinion to give the judge. Robin surprises her when she tells her she will not lie for her. Alexis is confused by what she means since she just wants a physical to prove she can physically handle taking care of her children. Robin is brutally honest with Alexis and tells her that she isn't physically well enough to take care of her children on her own. She also tells her she should not be defending Sam in court and instead should be spending what could be the last months of her life doing happy things. Alexis is floored by Robin's words.

Patrick steps in and apologizes for Robin. Sam isn't too happy with Robin and tells her off. Patrick tells Alexis not to listen to Robin because she is having a mental breakdown right now and doesn't know what she is talking about. He tells Alexis that he thinks her prognosis is great and is a strong enough woman to know what she can handle. Patrick follows Robin up onto the roof of the hospital to tell her off. Robin thinks she did nothing wrong by telling Alexis the truth about her limitations. Patrick accuses her of suffering from survivor's guilt and that Laura's situation was the catalyst for all of it. He thinks that she feels guilty because she lived and Stone died of AIDS and that everything she is doing professionally is colored by those delayed feelings of guilt. Robin doesn't think the two things have anything to do with how she acts professionally. Patrick accuses her of feeling guilty for falling in love with him because of what happened to Stone. He grabs her arm as she tries to walk away. She pulls suddenly away and storms off angry.

Patrick chewed out Epiphany for commenting on his personal life and she gave it right back to him, stating that he shouldn't be playing out his romantic drama in the workplace. Noah offered to lend his son an ear. Patrick told his pop about Robin's history with Stone. Noah recalled his own experience with loss and how debilitating it was. At Casa Corinthos, Robin vented to Sonny about Patrick's accusation of her suffering survivor's guilt because of Stone. Sonny agreed with Patrick and empathized with her dilemma. He said she doesn't have to feel guilty for loving Patrick. Robin didn't want to hear it and headed to Jake's for tequila shots. Robin lamented to Coleman that she's boring and predictable.

Patrick showed up and chastised Coleman for allowing Robin to get drunk. Tipsy Robin refused to leave with him and wanted to stay and do something crazy. Coleman jumped in and prevented Patrick from dragging Robin out of the bar. Patrick pushed Coleman out of the way. Coleman gave Patrick a warning about trying to push him around. Robin reminded Patrick how precious his hands are to him and that he doesn't want to fight. When Coleman tried to stop Patrick again, Patrick punched Coleman in the jaw and injured his hand. When Coleman comes after Patrick, Robin brings him to his knees with a cue stick and she then rushes to Patrick's side. Noah breaks the news to Robin that Patrick has broken his right hand and that he will not be able to do any surgery for a while. Noah recommends that Patrick get a nurse to help him dress and to make sure he rests so he can heal. Robin tells Patrick and Noah that a nurse won't be necessary because she will take care of Patrick. (This is a key moment in their relationship as Patrick's ability to perform surgery has always been of the utmost importance and he put Robin's welfare and safety above this).

Robin shows up at Patrick's hotel room. He opens the door half-dressed and invites her inside. She asks him if he would like some help getting dressed since his surgical hand is now in a cast. He lets her dress him and they discuss why he still lives in a hotel and not an apartment. He tells her he likes being tended to by hotel staff since he is very busy as a doctor. Robin suggests he let her tend to him and they kiss. Patrick wants to take it further but Robin tells him she has to go to work. Patrick tells her he is going with her to work also. She asks him what he plans to do since he can't perform any surgeries until his hand heals up. Patrick feels he can find plenty to do at work. When they get there they deal with Epiphany, who tells them she rather have them not be speaking to each other since when they are getting along, they can't keep their hands off each other at work. Patrick looks over his patients' charts and gets into an argument when Noah informs him that he will be performing surgery on Patrick's patients while his hand is healing. Noah plans to do the surgeries his own way and Patrick disagrees with his methods. He makes it clear to Noah that they are still his patients and he decides when they have surgery not him. After Noah walks away, Patrick takes out his frustration on Robin by blaming her for why he hurt his hand. Robin tells him he hurt his hand because he was being a jerk. Later, Robin finds Patrick looking over charts in the waiting area. Robin tells him she is willing to take part of the blame for what happened to his hand since he hurt while trying to defend her honor. Patrick forgives her.

Robin helped Patrick find an apartment. She found one that reminded her of Paris, and fell in love with it. As they were about to take the apartment, the landlord suddenly claimed to have another offer. Robin and Patrick realized he was denied housing because of his work with HIV patients. The landlord countered that the other tenants in the building would be opposed to his occupancy. When Patrick threatened a discrimination suit, the landlord granted him the apartment. Robin expressed to Patrick that she was proud of him, and they begin to make love.

As the children gathered 'round, Alan read the traditional Christmas story, seques into a Christmas pageant with Michael and Morgan set to Alan continuing to read the story (this was a nice touch to the annual tradition). During a montage set to "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," Patrick and Robin headed to the supply closet as Epiphany smiled and shook her head. On New Year's Eve, Patrick wanted to take Robin to Metro Court to celebrate but she wanted to stay in. He balked but she decorated his bare apartment and they made love. At midnight, they shared champagne in plastic cups set to a montage of scenes of various PCers celebrating.

Patrick asked Robin if she was disappointed to have spent New Year's Eve in bed rather than at a party. Robin told him that the holiday was a lot of hype about nothing. She vowed to make her 2007 resolution to be as honest with him as he is with her. Later, they argued over the decorations in the apartment, and Robin admitted to being uneasy over the impending results of his second HIV test. She feared that a clean bill of health for Patrick could mean the end of their relationship. He reassured her that this will not happen.

Patrick is trying to avoid Robin because they are supposed to go sofa shopping. Patrick has no desire to go shopping for a sofa but Robin is very into it. As they are talking about it, Alcazar is brought into the emergency room. They work on Alcazar and Patrick tells Skye that Alcazar needs surgery immediately to get the bullet fragments out of his brain. Alan disagrees with Patrick because he feels that the surgery is too risky. Skye is forced to make a tough decision about what is best for Alcazar and she ultimately decides to let Patrick operate.

Patrick was worried about Alcazar's prognosis, but Robin tried to get him to have more patience. Later, the couple discussed how they should deal with their professional lives now that they were getting so close personally.

Patrick is surprised that Robin bought him a couch, but he appreciates the gesture until Pete comes over and warns him that he's letting Robin take over his life. Before he knows it, she's going to be picking out her engagement ring. Pete tells her that if he wants to settle down, then that's fine, but he doesn't think that is what Patrick really wants. Meanwhile, Robin talks to Lainey about buying the couch for Patrick. She's afraid that she's overstepped her boundaries and compares herself to Carly. Lainey assumes she's going to be moving in with Patrick, but Robin quickly steps in and says that is not on her to-do list anytime soon. Still, Robin is disappointed when she goes back to Patrick's apartment and realizes he returned the couch. She immediately tells him she understands before he can get a word in edgewise.

Robin and Patrick return to his apartment with coffee and muffins. Robin tells him that she doesn't mind that he returned the couch she picked out and ordered for him. Patrick and Robin walk on eggshells around each other so they don't hurt each other's feelings but their thoughts are said out loud. Patrick surprises Robin when he tells her he doesn't want to live in the apartment and wants to move back into the hotel. He explains that he thinks it was better when they didn't have to make decisions about furniture and could just be together whenever they wanted at the hotel. Robin realizes that he is trying to tell her in his own way that he doesn't want her to move in with him anytime soon. She tells him she understands that and won't pressure him anymore by buying furniture for him. Patrick still wants to move back into the hotel but makes it clear to Robin that he doesn't want to go back to his old lifestyle of being a playboy and wants to be with only her. Robin suggests that they spend their last night in the apartment making love. They make love and afterwards Robin promises to say no if he asks her to move in with him in the future.

Robin is caught off guard when Patrick has the couch she bought redelivered, along with enough furniture to fill his apartment. She starts to help him move furniture around, but then realizes they have very different ideas about how to decorate. She storms out and goes to confide in Lainey. She's sure that Patrick is about to break up with her. Patrick comes to talk to her at the hospital, where he gives her keys to his apartment and asks her to move in with him. Robin denies Patrick's office to move in. She tells him it is not what he wants, that he is not ready for commitment. Patrick tells her he wouldn't ask if he didn't want her to and then gives her a key and tells her she can use it, or not. Robin goes to Patrick's and helps him move furniture. He asks her again to move in and tells her about all the nice things they can do together. He leaves the room only to peek in and catch her moving the furniture to where she likes and he smiles. Robin and Patrick share wine and music and then each other. After making love, Patrick asks her if she would move in and she agrees.

Pete stops by to see Patrick and is concerned about seeing the couch back and all of the matching furniture. Pete warns Patrick that Robin will be moving in any day now and he will not only have matching furniture but her lacy unmentionables all over the place. Robin steps out in her satin robe, and tells him that he is too late that she has already moved in! Patrick clarifies with Pete that he invited Robin and her lacys to move in. Pete tells Robin that he didn't mean anything personal and hopes she didn't take offense by anything she might have overheard. She says she has pretty thick skin and doesn't easily take offense, and it isn't exactly jaw-dropping information that he isn't a romantic. When Pete quickly leaves, Robin says that was too easy as she would have expected him to put up more of a fight. Later, when Patrick seems quiet, Robin asks if he is having second thoughts after Pete's comments? He says no that he is more sure now than ever and warns her that he doesn't think Pete will let go of this easily. Robin grins and says that she isn't scared of Pete and he can bring it on as she can take whatever he can dish out. At GH, Robin tells Noah about Patrick's new apartment, complete with furniture and a new roommate. He hopes that she means her and not Pete Marquez? She laughs, "Who Professor Doom & Gloom? If he had it his way I would be back in that loft so quickly it would be jet-propelled!" Noah advises to ignore Pete that in time he believes he will be gone. Noah raves that he thinks Robin is the best thing to ever happen to Patrick!

Pete comes back and reminds Patrick of his man-vows for a mandatory 48 hours of drinking, gambling, and strippers! Patrick says no thanks. Pete asks if he is scared? He observes that if Patricks love for Robin is so scary strong that there is no chance he will stray. Pete agrees that if Patrick goes with him to Vegas and keeps his pants zipped that Pete will accept that Patrick is truly in love.
