At the fire, Luke, Bobbie, Lesley, and Rick arrive, but Scotty has already
rescued Lulu. She is okay and Bobbie and Lesley convince Luke not to call
Laura. Luke is suspicious as to why Scotty happened to be in the
neighborhood. Turns out he was buying Serena some of that Key Lime ice
cream that she loves. Luke doesn't buy it at all. The cause of the
fire turns out to be possible arson.
Mac finds Luke searching the site of the fire for clues. At first Mac
warns Luke that he will only be causing more trouble but does let him know
that the evidence points to arson. The fire was set off by a timing
device, which means the culprit could have been anywhere by the time it
started. Laura has a nightmare involving the garage attic. She calls Luke
who tells her about the fire. However he leaves out important details like
the possible arson and just how close Lulu came to being trapped. Luke
assures her that her nightmares are now found less but Laura in not
convinced. Laura goes back to sleep and has another nightmare about the
attic.
Luke's Club, Rick drifts toward the bar and overhears Luke speaking to
Laura. Rick inquires about her and Luke tells him that he has filled Laura
in on the attic fire and as he predicted, she was upset at being kept in
the dark. Luke goes on and elaborates how Laura seems to have a sixth
sense about bad things happening. Luke appears to be trying to get a
reaction out of Rick. Luke asks if Rick has any idea why Laura wouldn't
remember the garage attic? Before he can answer Monica returns. Then Alan
interrupts and orders Rick to stay away from Monica. Monica and Alan
argue. Alan decks Rick and says he sorry he didn't kill Rick
all those years ago. Monica finally intervenes and manages to get Alan to
leave. Shortly after, Scott suggests that Rick should return to Arizona
ASAP. Bobbie tells Scott to back off. Rick says he understands why Scott
is in a bad mood considering the date. After Rick leaves Bobbie presses
him and Scott admits that it is his and Laura's anniversary. Rick
pauses outside the club to draw a breath of relief but Luke is
waiting on him and demands to know the real reason Rick is in town. Rick
claims that he wants the same thing Luke does and that is Laura's
happiness.
Luke finds Scott in the attic and asks him what the hell happened there.
Laura is returning to Port Charles and has a memory of something terrible
happening in the attic when she was a teenager. Laura returns to Port
Charles, goes to the attic and finds Luke and Scott there. She has
seen herself as a teen in that place. She says," It wasn't a
nightmare, it was a memory" that she suppressed. Luke tells Laura
that he thinks Scott knows what happened there. Then, Scotty goes to see
Rick about something.
Laura and Rick meet for lunch. The conversation turns to her nightmares
and Laura describes her dream for Rick, a rainstorm, stairs to the attic
garage, a woman moaning, and then seeing her teenage reflection in a
mirror. Rick attempts to convince Laura that the images were probably
created by her guilt over being away from Lulu during the fire or her
natural uncertainty about remarrying Luke. Luke gently presses Lesley for
information about Laura's visits to the attic. Leslie becomes
flustered about discussing her troubled marriage to Rick. She does how
ever tell Luke that Monica wasn't the only affair Rick had during
their marriage. She recalls for Luke how one of Rick's lovers refused to
take no for an answer and admits that Laura did encounter the obsessed
woman once when she came to their home. Rick calls Leslie and tells her
they have a problem and she rushes off to meet him. Laura arrives back
home and reports to Luke that Rick appeared to have logical explanations
for her dreams/memories. Luke fills Laura in on what Leslie told him but
Laura claims to have no memories of other affairs besides Monica or
meeting the obsessed woman. Luke tells Laura he smells a cover-up.
Luke and Laura arrive at Club 101, Laura assures him that it doesn't hold
a candle to Luke's place. When Luke and Laura run into Rick, He asks how
everything is going and teases about anyone having second thoughts. Laura
is fidgety and assures Rick that their wedding plans are going ahead as
planned. She starts to act a little freaky when she sees a redhead and
runs out of the club. Luke suggests they go to the attic right then
as Laura's memories are starting to come back. They head over to
the old Webber house and head up to the attic. Luke slowly tries to get
Laura to retrace and relieve her memories of that night. Laura's
memories come flooding back. She was in the yard; it started raining; saw
the light on in the attic; went upstairs; heard someone moaning; walked
in; found Rick making love to a redhead. As her memories come back, Rick
has followed them and is a few steps behind, listening.
Luke and Laura question Mac about the fire in the Scorpio-Jones attic but
he has to tell them they have no leads. Luke voices suspicion of Scott's
claim that he just happened by the night of the fire. But without evidence
of wrongdoing Mac won't question Scott further for fear of legal
complications. Frustrated Luke departs but Laura remains behind to try and
coax Mac into letting see the arson investigators report. Before she can
find Mac again, Scott approaches her and she gets a flash of memory. Laura
remembers seeing Scott in the attic that night. Laura tells Scott that she
knows he was there that night and asks him to tell her what happened.
Scott says he remembers that night but claims they were alone. He reminds
her that they used to meet there way back when to get around her curfew.
Laura is sure Scott is hiding something but he urges her to let go of the
past. After she leaves, Scott calls Rick and tells him they have to talk.
Luke finds Rick and Bobbie still together at Kelly's and tries to question
Rick again about his and Laura's relationship. Rick leaves after
receiving a call and Bobbie demands to know what is going on. Luke fills
Bobbie in on the attic mystery and floors her when he says he believes
Scott is also involved and that he is hiding something from them. Bobbie
insists that Luke is obsessing about this and defends Scott but Luke is
determined to find out what happened that night long ago and the night of
the fire also. Scott tells Rick that Laura is remembering more and more
everyday about that night. Scott tells Rick that he has tried to get Laura
to give it up but she doesn't believe his version of the night's
events. Scott comments that if Laura continues to remember "they are
finished." Rick assures Scott that if that does happen they will
have no choice on how to deal with the matter. Laura informs Luke that she
thinks Scott knows what really happened and is lying to her.
Luke joins Laura and she tells him that she has remembered that Scott was
in the attic on the night in question. Laura thinks it would be easier to
get more information if they could find out who the red haired woman
is/was. Luke has an idea on who can help them with that. Liz receives a
visit from Luke and Laura who ask her to sketch a person from Laura's
description. Once it is done Laura comments that it is an excellent
likeness of the woman she remembers. Luke asks Liz to keep mum about the
drawing. Liz goes off on an errand after telling the Spencers that they
can use the studio for as long as they need to. Laura suggests they make
copies of the sketch but insists on confronting Rick herself. She tells
Luke that he can question Scott about the woman if he wants to and Luke
does want to.
Bobbie watches as Scott gives a press conference in which he announces
that he has been named acting DA and his first order of business will be
to get the criminal element off the streets. He announces that he has
issued a warrant for Sonny's arrest on kidnapping charges but
refuses to name the "victim' when a reporter asks. Suddenly a
familiar voice calls out and demands that Scott answer a few questions.
Scott looks over and sees Luke standing amid the reporters. Luke can't
understand why Scott didn't answer his questions during his press
conference. He is angry and lets Scott have it, demanding to know what
happened all those years ago in the attic. Scott suggests he give it a
rest. Luke presses it and shows him Liz's sketch of the mystery
woman. As he continues to harass Scotty and get no answers, a security
guard arrives and escorts Luke out.
At the hospital, Laura shows Rick the sketch Liz made of the famous
red-haired woman. She informs him she remembers walking in on him and this
woman. Rick admits he had an affair with this woman and when Laura wants
to know more, Rick admits this woman was a nurse at GH and became a
stalker basically. He totally regrets the whole thing. She showed up at
the old Webber house and luckily she left town a few days after that. He
never gives her name. Later, Luke and Laura meet Lesley and ask her
about the mystery woman. Lesley pales when she sees the sketch and tells a
story that matches Rick's, for the most part. The woman worked at
the hospital, called the home at all hours, stalked Leslie all around
town. She even showed up at the Webber home and Laura answered the door.
Laura doesn't remember that! Finally, Lesley paid the woman off to
leave town. She doesn't give a name, claims she doesn't even
know it and has blocked it out. She also wonders what is the big deal and
why are they so insistent about finding answers? Back at the hospital,
Luke thinks Lesley has lied about not knowing the mystery woman's
name. He is going to check the personnel records to try to find out the
woman's name himself. He leaves Laura alone who suffers from more
flashbacks. Rick happens upon her.
Luke and Scotty come to blows over Scotty dodging Luke's questions about
what happened to Laura in the attic. Luke knows Scott's hiding something
and threatens to expose him right in front of the press next time. Scott
continues to tell Luke he's blowing things out of proportion and that he
knows nothing. Even when Luke shows him the sketch of the red-haired girl
from the attic with Rick, Scott pretends he doesn't know her. He tells
Luke he's like a broken record and give it a rest. Luke says he was there
and Laura knows he was there and to answer the question of what happened
in the attic. Luke tells him he's getting nervous. Scott says he's worried
about Laura. Scott asks the guard to throw him out of the courthouse. Luke
says he'll throw himself out.
Laura tells Rick that she knows everything now and shows him the picture
of the sketched woman. Rick asked how she got that and Laura tells him
that she remembered her and had an artist friend sketch her for her so
there's no use pretending anymore. Rick says he doesn't remember. When
Laura tells him what she remembers Rick tells her he had an affair with
her on her mother. Laura says it's not enough and she knows something more
happened that night. Rick says he was a lying, cheating bastard but it
doesn't make it better. Laura wants to know her name. He says she was a
nurse at the hospital. Laura wanted to know why he invited her back to
their house. He said he didn't invite her but she was psychotic and when
he found out he broke it off. It's in the past and she almost destroyed
them as a family and to leave it alone. He asks Laura to please don't let
this woman do any more damage to them than she already has and leaves.
Laura is shocked.
Later, Luke and Laura meet up with Leslie at Kelly's and Laura shows her
the picture of the sketched woman. Leslie freaks and Luke says that's the
woman she told them about isn't it. Leslie says yes and that it was one of
Rick's lovers. She was different and strange and aggressive. She's the
only one who ever came to the house and that Laura opened the door for
her. Laura starts telling her about the woman and Rick in the attic.
Leslie has an outburst and calls her a bitch and wonders out loud why it
took so long for her to get rid of her. Leslie tells them all about how it
started with phone calls, strange accents and different names. She didn't
notice until she started showing up places like the beauty parlor, the
dentist office waiting room, the car repair shop. She was being stalked.
When she finally showed up at their house, she decided that she had to go.
She said she cashed in bonds and paid her to leave town. She doesn't
remember her name and says she blocked a lot of things out and wants it to
stay that way. Luke and Laura show up at the hospital and Luke says he's
going to do some checking on the missing woman and leaves. Then an orderly
pushes a cart by the needles on it and Laura has another flashback of Rick
in his scrubs kneeling down with a needle in his hand. Just then Rick
comes up and startles her and asks if she's allright?
Luke asks Bobbie to help him find the identity of the mystery woman.
Bobbie searches through hospital records. Laura's memories intensify. Rick
tries to help her but Luke intervenes. Rick apologizes for stirring up bad
memories. He urges Laura to start focusing on her wedding. He leaves, and
Bobbie tells them she hasn't found anything. But Luke produces the sketch
of the woman and Bobbie leaves to look again. Laura tells Luke she
remembers Rick coming at her with a syringe. Bobbie comes back with a
name, Teresa Carter, a former nurse. Laura suddenly remembers being in the
attic and looking outside to see someone in the backyard. She tells Luke
that it was raining hard and she can't remember anymore. Luke and Laura
leave the hospital as Rick looks on. Scott runs into Bobbie. She tells him
how she discovered the identity of the woman and about what Laura
remembered. Scott seems on edge and he cancels their dinner plans. Then
Rick comes by and tells Scott they need to do something.
In the backyard of the old Webber house, Laura is trying to remember more
but she is unable to. Luke tells her she can't force it and he takes
her home. Rick and Scott enter the backyard with shovels and start to dig
and they unearth a human skull. Scott panics when a stray dog runs off
with the skull he and Rick unearthed. Scott is called into the PCPD and
Rick reassures him that dogs like to bury things and that the skull is
probably already reburied.
Despite Elton's best efforts to discuss wedding business, Laura
remains preoccupied with the attic mystery. Eldon fusses and Luke finally
gets him out. Laura thanks him. She feels she should be more involved in
the wedding but she can't get the attic mystery off of her mind. (local
news pre-emption during 8/1 occurs at this point, not shown: Luke suggests
they postpone the wedding until after the mystery is solved, but Laura
thinks they have waited too long already. The next scene cut into is of
Scott nervously informing Rick that the skull was brought into the PCPD
and sent to the GH forensics lab.) Scene resumes as Scott presumes that
the dog took the skull home to it's owner who then turned it into the
PCPD. They discuss the need to keep anyone from identifying it as Theresa's.
Scott comments that they can't afford to have Rick's name
linked to a murder investigation or to have Laura involved.
Bobbie arrives and gives Luke and Laura the last known address for Theresa
Carter from the hospital files. Realizing that it is not far from PC, the
duo decides to confront Theresa face to face. Rick arrives before they can
leave and tries to convince Laura again that she is blowing the events of
that night out of proportion. Laura lies and tells him that she has
decided to put that night out of her mind and concentrate on the wedding.
She does not mention that she and Luke are going to see Theresa. Luke and
Laura arrive at the address Bobbie supplied, and are greeted by a red
haired woman who immediately recognizes Laura.
Later, Scott enters the forensics lab and pulls a skull out of his
briefcase (presumably to replace Theresa's). Unnoticed by him,
Bobbie enters the room and asks what he is doing? Scott lies to Bobbie
when he tells her he stopped by the forensics lab to pick up a report.
When he found it empty, he decided to wait and then just picked up the
skull out of idle curiosity. BBobbie seems to buy it and invites him to
stop by her place later. When she comments to Luke and Laura will probably
still be checking out the lead she gave them on Theresa Carter, Scott is
obviously uneasy. Bobbie leaves, after getting beeped and Scott open up a
case (so he can switch the skulls?) only to find it is empty.
Laura asks Theresa to fill in the missing blanks of the night in the
attic. Theresa is rGeneral Hospitaleluctant; claiming she also has no wish
to recall the night in question, and tells her to asks Rick. Luke assures
her they don't want to cause her trouble; they only want to know
what Laura is suppressing so that she can move on with her life. Theresa
relents and tells Laura about how she harassed Rick and Leslie after Rick
tried to end their affair. She tells L&L that on the night in
question, she showed up at the Webber house uninvited. Rick agreed to talk
to her, but took her up to the garage attic to keep from being seen by
Leslie or Laura. She explains that once there she tried to seduce Rick.
When he refused she tried to hit him with a heavy object but Laura
intervened. What happened next was unclear but Laura was so upset that
Rick had to sedate her. Luke asks if that was the last time Theresa saw
Laura and Theresa says yes, except that she noticed Laura standing at the
attic window a bit later that night when Rick escorted her off the
property. Theresa tells them she left town the next day. She asks them to
leave before her husband gets home. Laura thanks her for her help and she
and Luke leave. Once outside, Laura tells Luke that she is glad it is
finally over. Luke asks if she is sure and Laura says that what Theresa
told them matched what she remembered, including a new memory of Theresa
welding an antique camera as a weapon. Luke hugs her and tells her he is
glad everything is over, but it is clear that he does not really believe
it.
Luke and Laura return to her office and are surprised to find Rick waiting
there. He says he brought a wedding gift. Laura tells him they just spoke
to Theresa Carter. Rick asks what she told them, but Luke insists that
Rick give Laura his version of that night's events first. Though we don't get to hear it,
Rick's memories of the night are the
same as Theresa's. Luke wonders why, if it was something so
innocent, Rick didn't just tell Laura the truth whenshe first
asked. Rick claims that his fatherly instinct drove him to protect Laura
from something SHE didn't want to know or she never would have
blocked it out. Luke asks why Scott has also been covering up the events
of that night, but Rick tells Luke he'll have to ask Scott. Laura
is happy that everything meshes with her memories, but Luke continues to
appear suspicious. Rick is happy the subject will be dropped and leaves,
but out in the hall he places a call to "Theresa" and
congratulates her on a convincing performance. "Theresa" asks
when she will be paid and Rick promises to wire the money immediately.
At the pier, Scott and Rick are talking about Scotts new appointment as
DA. Rick explains that it may work to their advantage that the cops are
busy with the waterfront war, they won't have time for Theresa's murder.
Scott tells Rick that the skull is missing. Scott wants to know if Rick
too it? Rick tells him not to worry, everything is under control and Luke
and Laura's quest for Theresa Carter has ended. Rick informs Scott that
they found her. Scott doesn't understand that since she is dead and warns
Rick about all of the arranging he is doing. As he tries to calm down
Scott by explaining that he paid someone, Laura arrives and asks what's
going on? She guesses that they are talking about what has been happening
with her but she assures them not to worry that everything is fine. She
understands. She explains to them about her meeting with Theresa and gives
them a rundown. She agress with them to leave it alone. Rick's beeper goes
off and he leaves. Laura tells Scott that she is relieved, everything
"Theresa" told her matches her memories along with camera.
Puzzled, Scott asks what she's talking about and she explains what she
saw. She says she doesn't know what she would have done without Scott.
Luke arrives at the attic and begans retracing Laura's steps that night
trying to locate the camera. He succeeds and lo and behold, there is still
film in it after 25 years. Later, Scott arrives and begins looking
for the camera. Laura arrives and wonders what he's doing? He covers by
saying that he needed to let go of some things too since Laura has. She
wonders aloud why this is bothering him so much? He says its because he
has been lying to her about what happened. He states that he should never
have listened to Rick. Laura explains that she wishes they had told her
the truth, but understands that they were trying to protect her. She knows
Scott's intentions were always good. They hug. Back at Lucky's Studio,
Luke has arrived and asks his son if he can still develop this film? Lucky
says he'll try as long as his dad tells him what's going on. Luke gives
him the basics. After the explanation Lucky understands why he wants the
film, to try and piece some more of the mystery togehter. Luke confesses
that he thinks there was a murder and that someone is covering their
tracks. Later, Luke and Lucky are examining the photos and guess what?
After 25 years exposure there is still a picture that is clear. A young
Scott covered with blood.
Lucky arrives at the attic (presumably to return the camera?) and finds
Rick already there. When Lucky questions him, Rick claims to be searching
for the tie to wore to Luke and Laura's first wedding. A flimsy excuse at
best and Lucky doesn't really buy it though he doesn't press
the issue. Rick insists that it is best for Laura if she just lets go of
that night. When Rick says Lucky is just like Luke, Lucky thanks him for
the compliment. After Rick leaves, Lucky takes the camera out of his
backpack.
The rehearsal dinner is about to start. Luke studies the picture of Scott
in the bloody shirt and appears to be debating weather or not to show them
to Laura. When asked, Bobbie tells Luke that she doesn't
think Scott is hiding anything and has not mentioned the attic to her.
Lucky arrives and tells Luke about finding Rick in the attic. Rick arrives
and the dinner commences. After dinner Luke makes a toast, everyone
drinks. Nik comments that he will not make another mistake with his family
like he did in not getting to know Kristina when he had the chance. Rick
and Scott slip away from the group and both admit looking for and not
finding the camera in the attic. Leslie shoos Luke out by reminding him
that he can't see the bride on her wedding day. Luke agrees to go
but takes Lucky with him. Lulu spills some punch on her dress and this
causes Laura to flashback to the past with a new memory-bloodstained
clothing. Only Rick seems to notice Laura's preoccupation. Deeply
disturbed by the flash Laura excuses herself and goes upstairs. Moments
later, Laura emerges from the side of the house, walks across the yard and
leaves. Rick sees her from the front window. Lucky and Luke develop more
pictures from the old camera. Luke is disappointed when they all turn out
to be duds, but Lucky thinks he sees something in the corner of one
print, a hand?
Laura arrives as the storm continues to rage. She looks around the room
and is startled by an image of a young girl/woman who tells her that she
knew Laura would return. Lucky definitely sees a hand in the last
picture he developed. Luke isn't as sure and badgers his son to try
and make it clearer. Lucky agrees to enlarge the photo, to see if that
will help, but makes Luke tell him what he hopes to find. Luke speculates
that Scott killed Theresa and Rick helped him cover it up. Luke explains
that the only reason he can think of to explain why Laura saw two people
out in the backyard, late at night, in the rain, would be if they were
burying someone. Lucky wonders why Scott would have killed Theresa and
Luke speculates that things just got of hand that night and it was
probably accidental. Lucky does manage to enlarge the picture and they
determine the hand to be a woman's. But the picture is still too
hazy to be of any more help. Luke asks if there is anything else that can
be done. Lucky speculates that if he used a high definition scanner, he
could get the picture much clearer and luckily (for Luke) he knows just
where he can borrow one. With Lucky gone, Luke paces as he tries to zero
in on what clues he is missing about the attic mystery. He picks up the
picture and looks it over again. Suddenly something jumps out at him and
prods his memory (or his intuition) and he take off out of the darkroom at
a dead run. Lucky returns with the scanner, but can find no trace of Luke
or the picture of the woman's hand.
At CLUB 101, Bobbie tells Scott that tonight will be her treat-as an early
thank you to Scott for being on his best behavior at the wedding-tomorrow.
Scott comments that things should go smoothly now that L&L have solved
the mystery. Bobbie's comment that she isn't sure Luke has
really let it go makes Scott nervous. He tells her they should drop the
subject and just concentrate on having fun. Bobbie agrees and looks over
the menu. Moments later, Scott reaches for his cell phone and has a
conversation indicating that he needs to attend to some urgent DA
business. Bobbie is suspicious since she didn't hear his phone
ring. Scott explains that he always puts it on vibrate when in a
restaurant. He is in a big hurry to leave, promising to make it up to her,
he drops cash on the table and practically runs out the door.
Laura is face-to-face with a vision of her younger self, which appears to
be a manifestation of her subconscious. Meanwhile, outside we see a pair
of male legs and feet enter the yard and look up at the attic window. The
apparition prompts Laura to try and remember the events of that night long
ago. Laura insists she already knows what happen, but the specter
draws her attention to the blood on her clothes. Laura shudders but does
finally have total recall of the night. She walked in on Rick and Theresa
struggling. Theresa had her hands around Rick's throat and was
trying to choke him. Theresa noticed her and started to walk towards her
in a very hostile way. Laura recalls being scared but being unable to
scream, or run away. She then recalls Rick appearing behind Theresa and
striking her on the head. She is unsure weather Rick sedated her before or
after he and Scott buried the body in the backyard (but that hardly
matters). Rick suddenly enters the room and asks Laura what she is doing
there. Laura explains that she couldn't stay away and has finally
remembered what really happened that night. Rick killed Theresa. Rick says
that Laura didn't remember anything.
Laura is upset to see him pull a hypodermic needle from his pocket. Laura
tells Rick that he can't make her forget what happened that night
by drugging her again. Rick insists that he didn't kill anyone that
night as he creeps ever closer to her. Laura yells at Rick to keep away
from her all the while backing up, until she is out of room. As Rick
continues to move closer, still wielding the needle. Laura franticly feels
for something to defend herself with. Her hand finally closes on something
and she lifts it in the air to fend off Rick. The item is a large, heavy
candlestick. Meanwhile, Luke races up the garage attic stairs as a scream
echoes in his ears. He reaches the top of the stairs, pushes the door
open, sees what is going on (we aren't treated to his perspective
though) and shouts, "No, don't!" The scene focuses on a
shot of the attic window, while another scream is heard. Then the image
goes dark. (Note: Luke & Laura are off screen for the next couple of
weeks, about :55 minutes on the edit. The attic storyline continues as Nik
& Lucky try to cover up the murder to protect L&L).
At the Spencer wedding, everyone (including the rarely-seen Amy and Tony
and Elton) has gathered for Luke & Laura's wedding, everyone
except Luke and Laura, and Rick. No one seems to have heard from either
the bride or the groom. Scott sneaks into a corner and tries to call Rick,
to no avail. Lucky overhears the call. Lesley tries to call Laura on her
cell phone, to no avail. Scott suggests the couple probably eloped and
everyone agrees that is probably the case. They get ready to hold the
reception without the happy couple. Lucky points out to Scott that Rick
never showed up and it would be unlikely that his parents would have
dragged Rick along on their elopement. When they get a chance, Lucky and
then Scott sneak out.
At the Scorpio attic, Laura's cell phone rings and we hear Lesley
leave a message of concern for her daughter. But Laura's not there;
the phone is lying on the floor, seemingly abandoned. Lucky arrives at the
attic door and Nikolas is right behind him. Seems Lucky left the wedding
in such a hurry that Nikolas followed him. They struggle to get the attic
door open and walk in and find a dead Rick!! The brothers can't
believe it. Nikolas reaches to call 911, but Lucky stops him. They think
that Luke has probably killed Rick. Suddenly, they hear someone coming up
the stairs and the brothers work together to hide the body. It is Scott.
They ask each other why they are in the attic. Nikolas gets a cell phone
call. It's Gia, but Nikolas uses it to pretend like it is Laura
calling from Vegas after running off to get married. Gia is utterly
confused, but Nikolas succeeds (maybe) in convincing Scott that Luke and
Laura did run off and get hitched. With Scott successfully duped, the
brothers work together and decide to get rid of the body to protect their
parents.
Back at the wedding, Scott informs everyone of the phone call Nikolas got
from Laura in Vegas. Everyone is relieved that they finally checked in.
Scott tells Lucky he wants to find out what Luke knows about Rick's sudden
disappearance from town, because Rick didn't check out of his hotel room
and didn't sleep there the night before. Lucky claims he doesn't know how
to get in touch with Luke, but will pass on the word that Scott wants to
talk to him when Luke calls. Scott questions why Lucky is on the docks.
Scott tells his people to track down Luke and Laura, who were no-shows for
their wedding yesterday. He then lies to Bobbie about the phone call
saying it was only work-related. Bobbie invites Scott and his daughter to
go on a vacation with her and Lucas, but he declines citing his new DA
job.
Lucky and Nik, with Rick's body in their car, plan to hide the body at
Wydemere. Nik misses a stop sign and is pulled over by the police. The
office notices Rick in the back seat, and Nik and Lucky claim Rick is
their father in an alcoholic blackout. They proceed to the docks, where
they transport the body by boat to Wydemere. They hide the body in a deep
freezer until they can figure out how Rick died. Gia walks in on Nik and
Lucky conspiring about how to cover up Rick's murder. She tells them to
fess up. From their mutual past experience, and the big freezer in
front of her Gia figures out that there is a body inside it. Lucky tells
her who's body it is and ask if she will help or not. Gia tries to
convince him that they won't get away with it. Lucky explains their motive
to Gia. Mrs. Landsbury comes in, Gia and Nik create a diversion to make
her go away. Having retrieved the keys from Rick's corpse, Gia, Nikolas
and Lucky agree that Nikolas will assume guard duty while Gia and Lucky
move Rick's car.
Gia meets Lucky and Nikolas by the side of a road. The guys brought the
corpse. Lucky explains that they will make it look like Rick was drunk and
they will roll the car over the cliff. Gia tells him that the
investigators will know Rick wasn't drunk since they will do a blood
alcohol test. Nik tells him that it's not going to work seeing as the
police will probably do a crime scene investigation and they will see that
the accident and the scene won't match. Lucky agrees and tells them he
will drive the car over the cliff himself. After placing Rick's body in
the car, Gia makes one last attempt to convince Nikolas and Lucky to go to
the police. Lucky explains how he will drive the car to make skid
marks on the road and crash in the gard rail to make the car accident look
more real. He will then jump out before it careens over the cliff. Nikolas
begs Lucky to come to his senses, saying that he will die if he goes
through with it. Nikolas says he would rather push the car than let Lucky
get in the car. Lucky finally convinces Nikolas to let him do it. Before
Lucky get in the car, Nikolas pours alcohol over Rick's body. Lucky starts
the car from the passenger side. Once the car is on it's way, he tries to
open the door to jump out. The door is stuck and he can't get out. Gia and
Nikolas look on in shock.
Gia and Nikolas watch in horror, as Lucky is unable to climb out of Rick's
car. They freak out and start crying when they think he is dead. As they
are hugging, Gia spots Lucky coming out from some bushes with only a
few scratches on his face. Did you miss me? He asks jokingly, they give
him hell for being so stupid. That was easy! He replies, but now comes the
hard part; the need to call the police. They start discussing who will
make the inevitable phone call. It can't be the brothers because
they are connected to Rick by marriage, so it has to be Gia. No way! She
exclaims, she begs them to reconsider and to just wait until some hiker
finds the car. They tell her that if they wait too many questions will pop
up and people will start putting two and two together. If they do it this
way, it's more believable. She finally concedes and pulls out her
cell phone. Lucky and Nikolas watch with strange faces as Gia practices
different accents to use for the call. They poke fun for a few minutes,
but then get back to the issue at hand. She begins to make the call, 911
right? She nervously asks but just as she does the cops show up.
Scott questions Nik and Lucky at Kelly's as to why their fingerprints were
all over Rick Webber's car. Scotty accuses them of killing Rick in the
attic, then moving his body, dousing it with alcohol, and sending his car
off the cliff. Lucky is arrested and charged with murder. Scott asked
Lucky where his father is? Lucky repeats they are in Vegas. Nikolas called
Alexis to come and help Lucky. She arrives and stops Scott from
questioning Lucky. Scott tells a shocked Alexis that Lucky is being booked
on murder charges. Alexis tries to question Lucky but she doesn't get much
out of him. She tells him that she knows that he and Nik didn't do this
but Scott Baldwin won't care with no other suspect. Lucky tells her if she
wants a suspect then how about Scott?
Scott goes to the attic and looks at the murder scene. Suddenly Nikolas
appears, he wants to know when Lucky will get a bail hearing. Scott starts
in on Nikolas with his usual banter and tries to figure out what happened
trying to get Nikolas to confess. He tells the prince that he doesn't
care if Nik wants to go to jail for his brother but they only found Lucky's
fingerprints. Nik tells the DA that they did not kill Rick. Scott reminds
Nik that he knows about last summer and finding the dead cop and covering
it up. Nik tells Scott that its starting to feel like he should have his
lawyer present. Scott tells him that he should think really hard about
what his brother has gotten him into this time and leaves. Alexis finds
Scott in the Scorpio attic and interrogates him about the 20-year-old
memories that Laura had been suppressing and what his part in the
potential crime was. She then shows him the picture that Lucky had
developed of Scott covered in what appears to be blood. Of course, Scott
denies it and says that it could be anything from motor oil to Popsicle
juice. Alexis implies that Scott has been covering up a crime for 20 years
and that maybe Rick might have been blackmailing Scott. Scott tells her
that he thinks that Lucky is covering for Luke. Alexis suggests that Scott
is using Lucky to keep the attention away from him and then Scott walks
away. Alexis is still determined to get at the bottom of the situation
and she focuses on Scott's potential motive for killing Rick. Back at the
PCPD, looking over Rick's personal stuff, Scott tells Taggert that there
are items missing. Taggert explains that he was just following Scott's
orders by leaving the items on one of the desk. Scott gets upset and says
he never wanted the items to be left unattended. He asks where the key to
the bus station locker is?
Meanwhile, Nikolas and Gia are at the bus station. Gia tries to convince
him to stop what he is doing. He tells her he has to see what's in the
locker. He opens the locker and finds the skull. Nik brings Lucky his suit
and tells him what he found in the locker. They figure out that Rick and
Scott are trying to hide a murder that happened 20 years ago. Nikolas
shows Alexis the skull he unearthed in Rick's locker at the bus station.
Nikolas tells Lucky the time has come to give Luke up to the police. A
frantic Scott arrives at the bus station opens the locker to find it empty
and the skull missing. After receiving a call from Scott, Leslie and
Lulu showed up at the police station to pick up Lucky. Both Leslie and
Taggart laid into Scott for lying when he placed the call. Lucky figured
out that Scott was trying to use Lulu's tears in an effort to break
him. Nik showed up and also laid into Scott for using an innocent child.
Lucky decided to "tell Scott everything" or at least pretend
to. Nik made Scott wait for Lucky's lawyer though. When Alexis
finally showed up, she had the skull with her. Pulling it from her bag.
she tossed it at Scott and accused him of killing Theresa Carter twenty
something years ago.
Scott asks Alexis why he would have anything to do with that person.
Holding the skull like a prized trophy, Alexis reminds him that it is
Theresa Carter and explains her theory that he killed Rick to cover up
Theresa's murder being discovered and Rick was blackmailing him.
She tells Scott all she knows about the attic thing, which is
everything. Scott asks Alexis that if he killed Rick why are Luke and
Laura on the run? Alexis explains the definition of being "on the
run" and "missing" to the DA. She tells Scott that she
has more circumstantial evidence on him than he does on Lucky and that if
he doesn't release her client, she will make sure that the skull
ends up on Mac's desk and then he will be the center of yet another
murder case, but this time as a prime suspect. A few minutes later, Scott
tells Alexis that he has released Lucky ROR, but that he is still to
remain available and he wants Lucky's passport. Alexis agrees
and waving the bag in front of Scott's face (with the skull inside)
tells the DA that as long as he doesn't arrest Lucky again, she
will keep quiet about the skull. Scott reminds her that if he finds
evidence pointing directly at Lucky he will arrest him again. Alexis and
Lucky depart before he changes his mind. Lucky wonders how Alexis
pulled it off. "Let's just say I know where all the bodies
are buried" she tells him. Lucky finds it hard to believe that Scott
would just let it go this easily. Alexis assures him that this is only the
beginning.
Taggert approaches Scott and can't understand why he would let
Lucky go so easily after all the work he put into arresting him. Scott
tells him that he is really after Luke, not Lucky. Scott tells Taggert
that Lucky will lead them straight to Luke and therefore he wants round
the clock surveillance on Lucky and when Luke resurfaces, they will grab
him. Luke calls Lucky who quickly warns him that Rick is dead and
Scott is using Lucky to try to get to Luke. Taggert walks into the
interview room to tell Scott that he is going to interview a witness but
Scott urges him to stay and he plays back the taped phone conversation
Lucky had with Luke. Taggert assumes aloud that Scott got a court order
for that wiretap. Scott informs the Lieutenant that this is why he
released Lucky, because he knew he would lead him straight to Luke.
Luke talks to a bound and gagged Laura and tries to explain why he is
holding her hostage. He is sure that if he lets her go, she will be
caught. Luke urges her to realize that they are a team, just like always.
Laura promises not to scream and Luke removes the gag. Luke explains to
Laura that she doesn't remember something that happened but that it will
all come back to her. Luke tells her how lucky they have been and starts
talk about their wedding and their children. Laura gets a flashback of
Rick walking towards her with the syringe. Luke doesn't seem to
notice that Laura has zoned out as she has another memory, this time
of Luke crouching over Rick's dead body. Laura is stunned at what
she has remembered, she then tells Luke remembers everything. Luke pulls
her into a big hug and she sees the cell phone over his shouldler. Laura
asks Luke for fresh water and while he is distracted she grabs the phone,
runs to another room, and locks the door. Laura calls Lucky's
number but doesn't seem surprised when Nik answers. Laura begs for
his help, saying that Luke is holding her against her will. In the back
ground Nik can hear Luke banging on the door and angrily shouting a Laura
to get off the phone and open the door or he will knock it down. Down at
the police station, Scott listens in and tapes the bugged phone line.
Nik is on the phone with his mother who is begging him to come get her.
Nik can hear Luke in the background trying to get to Laura and from
Laura's reaction she desperately trying to get away from him. Lucky hangs
up the phone and an incredulous Nik asks why he did that, a few moments
longer and he would have known where Laura was. Lucky reminds him that the
phones are tapped and he doesn't want Scott to find out where Laura
is. Nik argues that Luke is holding Laura hostage. Nik tells Lucky that
Laura is danger from Luke. Lucky tells Nik he must have misunderstood,
Luke would never hurt Laura. Nik wants to go to the police but Lucky warns
that Scott will press murder charges on all of them if they do that. At
the PCPD, Taggert informs Scott that he wasn't able to trace the
call. Scott berates Taggert and tells him that they have to get to Laura
because Luke is keeping her against her will. Taggert is still trying to
convince Scott that the call was untraceable since it was made from a cell
phone. Scott tells him that Luke is holding Laura hostage and that they
have to put out an APB and find them. Taggert is still unconvinced, so
Scott makes him listen to the phone tap.
In a barn, Luke tries to convince Laura that they can't have the
police find them because they are on the run (like the old times). Laura
isn't convinced and tells him she's not safe with him and
begs him to let her see her children. Luke begs Laura to trust him.
She tells him she's scared and runs into his arms. Laura now seems
to be back to normal until she mentions that she and Luke still have a
wedding to do and since Rick came all this way just to give her way. Luke
tells her that can't happen. Laura asks Luke why they won't
have the wedding. Luke tells her Rick is dead. She says he not, that he's
going to give her away. Luke tells her that Rick died in the attic.
Laura freaks out, trying to deny it. Lucky gets a call informing him to
turn on the tv. They see Scott informing the press that they found more
evidence on Rick's murder and that a warrant has been issued
for Luke for the murder and for kidnapping Laura. The gang deduces that
Scott heard the earlier phone call.
Luke realizes that he has a tough road ahead of him when Laura wakes up
the next morning and acts like everything is going to be okY and they can
return to Port Charles. Luke tells her that they have to leave town for
awhile until things die down in Port Charles. Luke tries to get Laura to
remember what happened that night after Laura tells Luke that she needs to
contact Rick since he is going to give her away at their wedding. Luke
tells her that Rick won't be there because he is dead. Laura doesn't
believe him and thinks he is making it up. Luke forces her to remember
what happened and tells her what happened 20 years ago up in the attic
with Theresa Carter. Laura starts to remember everything and realizes that
she was the one who accidentally killed Theresa Carter and not Rick. She
also remembers Rick following her after she went to the attic recently
after she saw Lulu spill punch on her dress and it triggered what
happened. She thought Rick did it and when he came to her with the needle
she didn't believe it when he told her that he wasn't the one who killed
Theresa. Laura is devastated when she realizes she killed Rick when he
wasn't trying to harm her. Luke consoled her and told her she killed both
Theresa and Rick in self-defense and that it was an accident that could
have been prevented if Rick and Scott had told her the truth and not tried
to hide it anymore. Laura listens to Luke and agrees that they need to
hide out longer and asks her to stay in the room while he goes and checks
on something. Laura tells Luke that she wants them to get married in their
home with just close friends and family and not have a big wedding. Luke
agrees with her that they will do that once things are cleared up and they
can return to Port Charles. Luke leaves her in the other room and goes to
call Nikolas on his cell phone.
Nikolas and Lucky argue about what is going on with Luke and Laura. Lucky
refuses to believe that Luke is keeping Laura hostage and that it is
possible he is only trying to protect her because she actually killed
Rick. Nikolas gets a call on his cell phone from Scott asking him to meet
him on the docks later. Nikolas agrees to it and doesn't tell Lucky or Gia
what is going on. Luke calls Nikolas on his cell-phone and warns him not
to talk on Lucky's phone since it is probably being tapped. He tells
Nikolas where they are hiding out and asks him to tell Lucky to meet them
there. Nikolas asks to speak to Laura on the phone. Luke tells him to let
it go and just tell Lucky what to do. Scott shows up on the docks so
Nikolas pretends he is talking to someone casually on the phone. Scott
asks him who was on the phone. Nikolas' look gives him away. Scott plays
the tape of the phone conversation between Nikolas, Lucky, and Luke from
yesterday. He asks Nikolas to cooperate since he doesn't really know if
Laura is safe or not with Luke. Luke goes back to the room to check on
Laura and finds her missing from the barn. He starts to panic. Later,
Scott shows up at the barn with the police and see know sign of Luke and
Laura. Scott finds part of a white veil on the barn floor. Nik meets
up with Gia and starts to explain about his call from Luke. Lucky arrives
and the conversation changes to whether or not Luke would really hurt
Laura. As Lucky defends his father, Scott bursts through the door and
accuses Nik of tipping off Luke so he could escape. In the middle of his
rampage, Mac calls and tells Scott that Luke's car was spotted on
the outskirts of town. Scott tells Mac he will be right there. With a
warning to Nik that he is not off the hook, Scott takes off. Lucky turns
his anger on Nik and demands an explanation of Scott's accusation.
Laura returns to the attic where she imagines Rick and Teresa encouraging
her to get ready for her "big day'. She dons her ruined old
wedding gown but in her mind she sees only the way she should look. Luke
finally arrives and finds a disheveled Laura in a tattered wedding dress
acting like a glowing bride ready for her wedding. Luke looks at her
sadly, this beautiful woman that he has loved for so long, and asks why
she ran away? She tells him she had to get ready and twirls and asks him
how she looks? He lovingly tells her that she looks like an angel? She
asks if he sees who is there? She points over to a corner and tells him
that Rick is there to give her away just as they had planned.
**The
End**
Luke
& Laura's Reunion #3B Luke realizing that Laura is on
the verge of a total breakdown plays along with her delusions. Luke
pretends that everything is normal and recites some very touching vows.
Laura's vows are more traditional but she falters towards the end and gets
very upset. Luke lovingly reassures her that her vows were prefect. With
the "ceremony' over, Luke tries to bring Laura back to reality. He
succeeds as Laura remembers striking Rick over the head with the
candlestick. She admits that she is very scared and doesn't know what to
do. Luke encourages her to trust him and go away with him until they can
decide what to do next. Laura clings to Luke and assures him that she does
love and trust him because he always makes her feel safe. Luke starts to
lead Laura towards the door, but suddenly Scott and Mac arrive. Luke was
arrested for the murder of Rick Webber. Laura was taken to the hospital
for psychiatric evaluation.
Scott went to see Laura in the psych ward and ask her some questions about
what happened in the attic. He was taping their conversation and she
admitted to killing Rick. Luke was brought into the PCPD and he demanded
to see his wife. He was not guilty and he demanded to be released. Alexis
came and he wasn't up front with her. He said he wasn't guilty. Later,
Scott went to see Luke and played the tape for him. He said he had a
suspicion that it was Laura. Luke, against the wishes of his son Lucky and
Alexis, tells Scott Baldwin that he killed Rick Webber. Meanwhile, a
disturbed Laura is declining as she can't quite accept the fact that she
killed her own father. Realizing that his fragile Laura can't deal with a
trial, he sticks to his confession. He dismisses Alexis and asks
Lucky to stand by his mother. When Nikolas and Lucky visit Laura in the
psychiatric ward, she is lethargic and tired. Lucky pushes her too
stenuously to tell the truth about Rick's demise in the attic. She keeps
focusing on an apparition much like her teenage self who begs her not to
trust these guys. Lucky simply wants to find out the truth. He tells
his dad that he will not let a vengeful DA, Scott Baldwin, pin this murder
rap on him. Lucky says, "I need you too, dad".
Scott visits Laura, who does not recognize him. She has apparently
regressed to her childhood as she pleads with Scott to convince her
parents to get her out of the ward. In return she promises that she
will dress appropriately, stop cutting school and obey her curfew. Scott
is shocked at Laura's condition, but tries to soothe her by explaining
that she didn't do anything wrong, it was everyone else who made the
mistakes which she is now paying for. Bobbie urges Luke to recant on his
confession and go to trial so that Laura can clear him with her testimony.
Luke refuses to reconsider his plan even though Bobbie pleads with him to
think of the children's best interest. Luke insists that having Laura home
is what is best for the children. He then asks Bobbie to look out for
Lulu. Bobbie readily agrees. As Bobbie leaves the interrogation room, Roy
arrives for his visit with Luke. Out the room, Bobbie questions Scott
about his treatment of Luke. Scott tries to convince Bobbie that he
suggested to Luke that he plead involuntary manslaughter and go to trial,
but Luke stubbornly refused to consider the idea. Bobbie says they both
know Luke is innocent and would never have confessed except to protect
his beloved Laura.
Inside the interrogation room, Luke tells Roy he has a plan which he might
need to put in effect that very night. Roy gets a phone call, but
apparently the person on the other end quickly hangs up before Roy could
say much more than "Hello" Roy promises to be ready whenever Luke needs
him. Scott enters the room as Roy leaves and demands that Luke sign his
confession. Luke refuses to do so unless he gets one last visit with
Laura. Scott tells Luke that Laura didn't even recognize him the last time
he saw her and tells Luke that a visit from him will only upset Laura.
Luke stubbornly refuses to sign though. Both men accuse the other of being
responsible for Laura's current condition. A frustrated Scott takes the
confession and leaves the room. Scott secretly watches from behind a
two-way mirror as Luke visits a confused and frightened Laura and tells
her that he is going to help her escape. He asks her to fake taking her
pill that night so that she will be awake when he comes to get her. Luke
is heartbroken when he realizes that Laura has regressed so much that she
hardly recognizes him. She calls him a bad man who wants to hurt her
and screams for her mother when Luke tries to touch her. Luke tries to
convince her that he is going to help get her out of the hospital, but
Laura gets hysterical when he urges her to "remember."
Nikolas and Lucky have a tea party with Lulu, she asks for her mother and
the boys promise that she will be back home soon. Luke tries to get
through to Laura, telling her that they'll get away from this place, that
it's just the two of them, that she has to try and not go deeper into the
place she is at now because he can't follow her there. Laura stops
twirling her hair long enough to listen, and it appears that Luke is
reaching her, the orderlies try to bust through the door. Luke blocks the
door with a chair and Laura flips out completely. Luke tells her,
"Look at me, I'm your life". Laura says that she doesn't know
him. As Luke begs Laura to stay with him forever, the orderlies
finally manage to break down the door. They put a straight jacket on Laura
and proceed to give her a shot. After Laura is sedated and laced into a
strait jacket, the doctor tells Luke his wife will be sent to a special
facility in London for long term treatment. Luke is led outside
kicking and screaming. A heartbroken Lucky and Nikolas say goodbye to
their mother. Lucky breaks down in tears and collapses into his father's
arms. Luke also takes Nik in his arms and tells them both they have to be
strong for Lulu. Laura is wheeled outside her room, in a straightjacket.
Luke is teary, and as they wheel her away (to the airport, I guess), he
has a flashback of a montage of scenes with Laura over the years to
the classic "Think of Laura". With tears in his eyes, Luke says
"Goodbye my angel, goodbye".
Scotty approaches Luke and reminds him that he honored his part of the
deal, Luke got to see Laura, now it's Luke's turn to sign the confession.
Luke grabs a gun from his guard and aims the weapon straight at Scott.
Luke declares, "There isn't going to be any doubt about who commits
this crime! I should have done this years ago!" Scott doesn't seem to
care either, "Shoot me, I don't give a damn!" Alexis comes along
and tries to get Luke to put down the gun as Scotty continues to taunt
Luke. Alexis points out what happens when Laura recovers after treatment
and what will happen to Laura's recover to hear that Luke killed Scotty?
Luke reluctantly puts down the gun and snarls that Laura is the only
reason that Scotty is still breathing. Alexis assures Luke that she is
researching and appeal and she will fight this. Scotty smirks that this
case is closed. Alexis has had it and warns Scotty that if he doesn't shut
up that she will shoot him herself!
At the PCPD, Alexis was trying to get Luke to talk and tell her exactly
what happened with Scott, Laura, Rick Webber and the late Teresa Carter.
He was saying nothing. He told her to leave, she wasn't his lawyer.
Lucky went to see him and he said Laura was where she should be right now.
He said he didn't want to see his dad in jail and Luke said he wasn't
going to be in jail. He has some plan up his sleeve, as usual. Luke
is brought into the courtroom under lock and key and seated at the table.
The judge addresses the court and Alexis interrupts by stating that
although she is no longer representing Luke, she believes strongly
that Luke is under extreme emotional stress and is not acting in his own
best interests. She tells the court that Luke is protecting the woman he
loves. The judge denies Alexis's request and announces that based on Luke's
record and plea of guilty in the murder of Rick Webber, finds him guilty
and will be remanded into custody until the sentencing hearing.
Scott shows up and starts throwing his weight around by telling Luke that
he should plead for mercy when before the judge. If he admits that what he
did was to protect Laura then he won't get a life sentence. Luke sees
through the charade knowing Scott is only saying that because of Bobbie.
Scott tells him that if he cares at all about his sister he will think
about what he's doing. Lucky shows up and after Scott leaves tells his
father that no matter what the plan is he will back him 100%. When asked
by the judge if he has anything to say in his defence, Luke replies by
saying that he was protecting Laura and explains the events (finding Laura
cowering under Rick etc.). He finishes by saying that he meant to kill the
bastard and would do it again and does not have the least bit of regret
for doing it. Based on Luke's disregard for authority and his record, the
judge finds him guilty of murder in the second degree and sentences him to
life in prison. Angrily Scott tells Luke to enjoy the rest of his life in
a 5x7 cell. Luke is indifferent and doesn't acknowledge Scott which pisses
him off even more.. He storms out and Luke calls out to the guard and asks
if his cell is ready. A guard enters and we soon learn that it is actually
Lucky!
Luke nixes Lucky's plan to help him escape and convinces him that posing
as a police officer is too dangerous. Lucky refuses to abandon Luke, but
in the end is forced to give into Luke's wishes. A tense moment occurs
when Scott arrives, but Lucky manages to turn his face before Scott
realizes it's him. Luke distracts Scott with insults and gives Lucky time
to escape unnoticed. Scott is sure that Luke is planning to escape
otherwise he wouldn't be so calm in the face of a life sentence. Luke
tells Scott he is delusional. Both accuse each other of being the reason
Laura lost her grip on reality. As Scott leaves, Nik arrives. Once he is
alone with Luke, Nik apologizes and tells him he now believes that Luke
was only trying to protect Laura. Luke brushes Nik's doubts off as
inconsequential now, but asks Nik to try and keep Lucky from doing
anything crazy to get him out of jail. Nik readily agrees. Before Nik
goes, Luke does ask him for one favor. Having obtained a pen and paper,
Nik is brought to tears as Luke dictates a touching letter to his beloved
Laura. In the letter Luke assures Laura that they will manage to get over
the latest bump in their rocky road of a life and eventually be together
again. Nik looks tearfully up at him, as Luke implores him to give the
letter ONLY to Laura. Nik encourages Luke not to give up hope and assures
him that Alexis is hard at work on his case. Luke tells Nik that if he
loves Laura and truly wants to help her, he needs to convince Alexis to
leave his case alone.
Luke visits with Lucky one last time before he is to be transferred to
prison. He tells Lucky to meet Roy on the dock and to follow his
instructions since he is the #1 point man for the job. Luke is dismayed
when Scott joins him in the prison van to escort him personally to prison.
Luke refuses to take the blame for what happened to Laura and points his
finger at Scott for what happened to Laura. Luke questions Scott's real
motives for putting Luke away in prison and accuses him of not being able
to accept the fact that Laura chose him to marry and have children with
all these years and not him and that Scott can't take the fact that he
will always be 2nd best as far as Laura is concerned. Scott orders the
driver to pull over and park out near the woods. The driver is reluctant
to follow his orders until Scott takes full responsibility for Luke. They
pull over and Scott takes the handcuffs and ankle locks off of Luke so
they can have a fair fist fight once and for all. Luke eggs Scott on and
the two come to blows. Scott suddenly falls to the ground unconscious.
Luke looks up and says "Well, it's about time." Looking on
is Nikolas with a piece of wood in his hands. Nikolas tells Luke that he
rented a car and he can take Luke to see Laura right now before the van
returns. Luke tells Nikolas that it is too risky and he will take it from
here without him. He thanks Nikolas for his help and asks him to talk to
Lucky and tell him he is sorry for lying to him. Nikolas tells him that he
knows that Luke is the only one who can help his mother now. (Luke isn't
seen again for several weeks as Tony takes his vacation).
2/6/03 Luke finds an old photograph of Laura in his belongings at his
office. Bobbie comes to visit him there and he tells her that he worries
that Laura will be lost to him forever. Bobbie explains to him that he has
to move on with his life but can't go looking for some look-alike
substitute for Laura either. Luke explains to her that Summer is just a
friend to him and that he is still in love with Laura. Bobbie tells him
that what is going on with Laura is worse than if she had died. Summer
shows up at his office while Luke isn't in there and finds a picture of
Laura along with an old love letter Luke wrote for Laura. Summer is
touched by the words of love Luke writes about. Luke tells her it is an
old letter he wrote for Laura when she was with another man still. Summer
tells him that she likes spending time with him and that he is the most
gentle and loving man she has ever met. Luke tells her he can only accept
her as a friend. After she leaves, Luke continues to think about Laura and
gaze at her picture. Lucky runs into Summer again when she goes back to
Kelly's to return his gloves to him. He tells her he has thought about
what she said then questions her about the other man she is friends with
and whether she is in love with him. Soaptalk 2004 - Feature on Tony

8/8/06 Lulu went to Shadybrook to visit her mother. In the room she let
her mother know of what she had done to get Dillon to be with her and that
after he had found out about her lies, he ended it with her. She said that
she had accepted the decision, and had been willing to move on, but it was
impossible to do that now because she was pregnant.
9/11-9/19/06 Lulu had a nightmare in which she was the mother of an angry
teenage daughter, who criticized her mom's parenting skills. Dream
Daughter rejected Lulu's birthday present, and blasted her mom for missing
so many of her other birthdays. Lulu awoke with a start. She told Luke
about the nightmare. He gently noted that she's the only one who can
decide what to do about her pregnancy. Lulu went to see Laura and begged
for guidance. Lulu broke down in tears and luke showed up to console her.
Luke offers to take Lulu away to Europe to give her some time over
deciding about the abortion. She tells her father that she will continue
to go through with her appointment at 7 o'clock. Lulu tells Luke that she
is ready for her appointment, but that she does not want him present for
the procedure. She informs him that things would have been different if
Laura had been around. Lulu requests that he go and visit Laura so that
she will know that they are together during that time.
A haunting ballad and a lot of anxious clockwatching accompanied Lulu's
abortion appointment. Luke kept vigil with Laura and then left to protect
Lulu from the Q fallout. He ran into Robin in the hall. Robin tells Luke
there is a "radical new medication" that might help Laura. She
thought it was worth a shot, giving Luke her card and asking him to think
about it. Luke and Tracy discussed both Lulu and Laura, and Luke deeply
appreciated Tracy's support. "I'm your wife," she reminded.
Later, Luke went up to Lu's room to catch up. "This family is pretty
schizo," she noted of the Qs, thanking Luke for being there for her.
She touched her abdomen as she talked about hoping Laura would wake up
some day. "Your mother loves you," Luke told her, fiercely.
"My mother might as well be dead; it'd be easier than this," Lu
said, finally breaking down in tears. Luke let himself into the hall and
dialed Robin.
Lulu dreamt about looking for her crying baby in her room, and then ending
up in Laura's hospital, and instead of seeing her mother, she saw herself
in the room. When she woke up she was very shaken. Outside of
Laura's hospital room, Patrick was telling Robin that Laura had been
unresponsive to any of his tests, and that there was no hope for recovery.
Luke came by, and Robin pressed on him the possibility of a new drug
treatment, that it may help Laura, and that the best possibility would be
that she would recover fully and permanently. Patrick tried to have Luke
understand that the treatment was dangerous, and make her require to
relive the trauma of killing her father, which might ultimately kill her.
At the end, Luke decided that he needed to meet the doctor who had
developed this new treatment, before agreeing to anything. Before leaving
the two doctors, he told them that they must not let anyone know what they
had talked about. Back at Laura's room, Luke was apologizing for the tests
that the doctors were taking, and that he was going to go and meet a
doctor who might be able to cure her. He explained that he was not only
doing this for her, but to cure him as well. He felt that as time was
passing, he was forgetting her and their time together, and that this was
to help him as well.
October 25 - November 2, 2006 - Lulu arrived at Lucky's room and when Nik
mentioned seeing Robin and Patrick with Laura, Lucky wondered if their dad
was going through with the experimental treatment Robin had previously
mentioned. At Shadybrook, Luke took full responsibility and as Robin
prepped the dosage, he told Laura to, "Hold on tight, Angel. Here we
go!" Robin administers the experimental drug to Laura through her IV.
Luke tells Laura what Robin is doing and then asks Robin and Patrick how
long it will take to get a reaction from Laura. Robin tells him that it
should be soon. Lulu, Lucky, and Nikolas show up to find out what is going
on. Robin and Patrick explain the experimental drug and what it is
expected to do. Nikolas is not pleased that he was not informed of the
drug and its side effects. Robin and Patrick explain the side effects to
them. Nikolas asks Robin and Patrick why they didn't tell him what was
going on when he was there the other day visiting Laura. Robin tells
Nikolas that Luke didn't want any of them to know in case the drug didn't
work. Nikolas points out that Luke is not Laura's next of kin, her
children are and they should have been notified first. Nikolas, Lulu, and
Lucky barge into Laura's room to see her. Robin tries to stop them from
disrupting Laura or trying to stop the medication from being administered.
Nikolas insists they stop giving Laura the medicine and tries to pull the
I.V. out of Laura. Luke stops him by grabbing him by the arms and warning
him not to stop what they are doing. Lucky speaks up and tells them that
he is for trying the new drug and points out that Laura would want them to
try the drug on her even if there was a good chance it wouldn't work on
her. Later, everyone is disappointed when Laura doesn't respond to the
medicine within the time frame the doctors expect her to. Lucky, Lulu, and
Nikolas go in separately to visit Laura. Lulu tells her about her abortion
and how she really hoped the medicine would work so she could come back to
her and tell her that she did the right thing.
Robin confides in Patrick that she should never have told Luke about the
drug and promised not to tell the others about it. Robin examines Laura
and sees no difference. Nikolas goes in to see Laura and tells her about
how much his son reminds him of her and tearfully says goodbye to her.
When he leaves, Laura moves her head a little bit and seems to be a little
responsive. Luke goes in last to see Laura. He tells her that their luck
has run out and starts to leave her room. Laura shocks Luke when she calls
out his name. Luke talks to Laura and told her that he had to try to get
her back for the kids and for them because they have beaten the odds so
many times, but it seems that the house won this time. He kisses her and
walks to the door when Laura said his name. He came back to her and she is
awake. They have a tearful reunion. He asked her if she was ok, she said
she felt hazy and asked what happened. He told her they would take things
slow. She said she didn't remember coming to the hospital. She asked if
something happened on the way to the wedding. He asked her what the last
thing was she remembered. She remembered they were going to get married.
He told her she was unconscious for awhile, but she is going to be fine.
She still thinks he looks worried.
Patrick examines Laura and said she is doing surprisingly well. Luke was
excited telling Robin about when she woke up. He told her what she
remembers so far. Robin told him that the large time gap can be unsettling
to her so she will need a psychiatrist. Laney came and Luke filled her in
on what Laura remembers. She thinks it is four years ago. Luke goes in to
see Laura. She wanted to know what the Dr's said. He told her that they
are going over her case and that she has defied medical precedence. She
asked if there is something else. Nikolas, Lucky, and Lulu were talking
together about how they wanted Laura to come back to them. Nickolas said
they need to accept that she isn't coming back. Lucky and LuLu realize
that they wouldn't want their mother to see how they have messed up their
lives. Robin and Patrick came and told them that Laura was awake.
Laura asked where the kids were. She started to panic, but Luke told her
the kids are fine, he just hasn't had a chance to call them. He told her
the Dr's want her to take things a little slowly. She said she wants the
kids to see that she is alright. As he was telling her that he knows she
will think of everyone else before herself, the kids walked in. She is
shocked about how much LuLu has grown up and wants to know how long she
has been like this. Luke and Laura are talking in her room at Shadybrook
and Laura asks Luke about the kids. Luke tries to get Laura to slow down
and as they are talking about it Lulu, Lucky, and Nikolas walk into her
room. Laura is completely shocked when she sees that Lulu is all grown up.
She gets very upset and demands to know how long she has been out. Luke
gently reveals is has been 4 years and Laura is stunned and asks what
happened. Laura stands up with the assistance of Lucky and Nikolas and she
gives each of them a hug and tells them she loves them. Laura then walks
across the room to Lulu and they share an emotional reunion and hug.
Luke tells Laura that she had an accident while she was preparing for the
wedding 4 years ago. Luke is very vague and when Laura asks if something
happened to her head he says yes. Laura tells the kids that she wants to
hear something about each of their lives. Nikolas pulls out a picture of
Spencer and tells Laura that she is a grandmother. While Laura, Nikolas,
and Lulu are talking, Luke pulls Lucky aside and tells him that he does
not want anyone to know about Laura because she is extremely fragile right
now. Lucky agrees with Luke and says he will talk to Nik and Lulu about
it. Luke and Lucky rejoin the conversation with Laura and Laura asks Lucky
if he has a love in his life. Lucky tells Laura that he and Elizabeth are
married and that in fact today is their first anniversary. He also reveals
that he and Elizabeth is expecting a baby. Luke interjects and tells Lucky
to tell her the rest. Lucky sheepishly tells Laura that he is a cop which
Laura finds absolutely hysterical. Lulu and Laura begin talking and Lulu
shares that she is college at PCU. While they are talking Luke disappears
out of the room. A nurse comes in and advises them that Laura needs her
rest and they all agree to leave.
Luke is standing in the courtyard at Shadybrook and he pulls a flask of
liquor out of his pocket. Just as he is getting ready to take a swig
Robert's voice interrupts him. Robert advises Luke that he has just spent
the afternoon trying to calm down Tracy. Luke and Robert talk about how
Tracy has no idea that Laura is awake and Laura has no idea that Luke is
married to Tracy. Luke tells Robert that one day he finally realized that
Laura would never wake up so he moved on and got involved with Skye and
then Tracy. He tells Robert that when Laura woke up and he looked at her,
it was like nothing had changed and he realized that a part of him has
always been waiting for her to come back. Luke admits to Robert that he is
afraid that he is going to fall in love with her again and he is terrified
of that. He tells Robert that so much has happened and he feels like there
is no future for him and Laura. Robert confronts Luke and tells him that
he knows him too well and he wants to know what is really going on.
Luke and Robin show up to see Laura in her room. They are surprised to
discover that she is not in her room and none of the staff have seen her.
Nikolas shows up soon after and they tell him that Laura took off. Robin
asks Luke more about what caused the initial trauma in Laura to begin
with. Luke and Nikolas tell her that Laura accidentally killed one of her
stepfather's mistresses and explain how Rick Webber gave her a sedative of
some kind back when it happened and she repressed the memory all those
years ago. Robin gets a call on her cell-phone from one of the staff. She
tells them that one of the groundskeepers saw Laura leave about an hour
ago. Meanwhile, Laura shows up at her old house on Charles Street. She
remembers there is a key under the planter and lets herself in. She looks
around in awe at the living room and looks at a picture of her wedding to
Luke. She hears someone come in the front door and turns around.
Leslie shocked to see Laura smiling at her. She drops her grocery bag on
the floor and asks Laura if she is for real. Laura calls out her name and
the two of them embrace. Leslie asks Laura why no one told her that she
was better. Laura makes excuses for Luke but does not know much more than
that. She refers to her "accident" that caused her problem and
Lesley goes along with it. Laura tells Lesley about some miracle drug that
Robin heard about and thought it could help her. Later, Laura shows up at
the hospital and asks a nurse if Bobbie still works there. The nurse tells
her she does and agrees to page her for her. Laura looks over and sees
Bobbie and tells the nurse not to bother. She calls out to Bobbie, who is
stunned to see her walking and talking. The two embrace. Bobbie also
wonders why Luke never called her to tell her. Laura asks about how Tony
is doing and Bobbie doesn't know what to say so she doesn't tell her about
Tony's death. Tracy gets off the elevator and heads toward Bobbie. Laura's
back is turned so Tracy can't see her. She asks Bobbie if she knows where
her useless husband is. Laura turns around and shocks Tracy into silence.
Bobbie and Laura talk about her recovery and Nikolas shows up and finds
Laura. Robin shows up at the hospital and asks Laura if she is okay? Laura
tells her she is feeling great and just wants to be free to move and do
what she wants for right now and tells her to call Luke and let him know
she is o.k.
Lulu shows up at the house to talk to Leslie. Leslie tells Lulu off for
not telling her about Laura's sudden recovery and peppers her with
questions about why Luke didn't feel the need to call her and at least
warn her about Laura. Lulu tries to explain that Luke didn't want anyone
to know right now because they don't want anyone to overwhelm Laura with
information. Luke shows up and Leslie lets him have it to for not letting
her know. Luke refuses to apologize to Leslie and asks her where Laura is.
Lesley tells him that Laura took off a little while ago. Luke calls
Nikolas on his cell-phone but gets Nikolas' voice message. Luke yells at
Nikolas to call him back immediately. Bobbie calls Luke on his cell-phone
to give him hell for not telling her about Laura. Luke tells her that he
will explain to her later and that he just wants to make sure Laura
doesn't find out too much. He asks Bobbie not to mention Rick Webber or
comment on him because he is afraid Laura will be traumatized. Bobbie
tells him about how Laura asked her about Tony and she didn't know what to
say.
Luke & Laura's Reunion
#3C November 2-27, 2006 - Luke heads to the casino. He asks
the bartender if a blonde woman came in looking for him. The bartender
tells him he hasn't. Tracy is there and confronts Luke about Laura. Luke
tells her that right now his priority is helping Laura and that he can't
worry about hurting her feelings. Tracy asks him how he is going to
explain to Laura that he is married to her. Laura comes into the casino
and sees them together. Tracy offered to tell Laura why she's at The
Haunted Star. Luke told Laura that he and Tracy are business partners, but
Laura sensed he was holding something back and demanded answers. He
flashed back to her breakdown, then told her that Rick Webber died in the
car accident, and that's what he was hiding. She looked relieved, and
asked him to take a trip to jog her memory. The pink Cadillac suffered a
flat tire and they walked to Beecher's Corners in the rain. At the
bed-and-breakfast, the innkeeper remembered them from their Lloyd and Lucy
Johnson days. Laura wanted to see the movie theater and get coffee at
Calhoun's. They slow-danced; she wept in his arms, and they finally
kissed. Luke reprised the "Walls of Jericho" and hung a sheet
between them. Laura was eager to reclaim her old life, and asked him,
"Will you marry me again?"
Luke and Laura are at the inn at Beecher's Corners and Laura asks Luke to
marry her again. Luke cautions her to slow down and take things a little
more slowly. Laura interprets this as Luke not wanting to marry her. She
points out to Luke that four years ago for him is yesterday for her and
that nothing has changed regarding her feelings for him. Luke tells Laura
that the past four years has felt more like 400 years for him. Laura asks
Luke how he dealt with everything that happened. Luke told Laura that he
took her to every doctor hoping that they could cure her and when he lost
hope he continued to visit her all the time because he had to be near her.
Laura tells Luke that he is the life that she was meant to have and Luke
agrees and tells Laura that he wants to marry her. Laura is so happy that
she is crying tears of joy. Luke apologizes for not having a ring for
Laura. Laura asks what happened to the ring that she had 4 years ago. When
Luke makes a feeble excuse about the hospital not letting her wear it,
Laura guesses that Luke threw the ring out. Luke admits that he was angry
and he threw it out into the harbor. Laura tells him it is ok and that
they can pick out a new ring. Luke tells Laura he bought her a new ring
for her birthday two years ago to replace the ring he threw away. He tells
her it is at the house in the music box she loves. Laura is so happy and
excited that she wants to get the ring now.
Luke and Laura go back to the house and Luke brings the music box with the
ring to Laura. Laura admires the stunning ring and Luke decides to do
things the right way. He tries (unsuccessfully) to get down on one knee.
Luke pledges his love for Laura and asks her to be his wife. Laura says
yes and they share a kiss. Lulu walks in and apologizes for interrupting.
Laura announces to Lulu that they are getting married. Lulu is surprised
and she shoots Luke a questioning look as she congratulates Laura. Luke
excuses himself to take care of business at the Haunted Star and Lulu and
Laura spend some mother- daughter bonding time together. Laura asks Lulu
to be her maid of honor. They discuss lulu's relationship with Luke and
Lulu tells Laura that it has been a bumpy road but it is getting better.
Laura tells Laura that Luke loves her mote than anything else. Laura vows
that they are going to be a family again.
Luke walks into the Haunted Star and announces to everyone that the place
is closing for the night for a private party and he kicks everyone out. As
Nikolas and Emily are leaving Luke stops them and tells Nikolas that he
needs to stay because he is calling a family meeting to discuss Laura.
Bobbie, Elizabeth, Emily, Nikolas, and Lulu have all gathered at the
Haunted Star at Luke's request. As they are talking trying to figure out
what was going on, Luke walks in and tells them that they are there to get
their stories straight. While they are talking, Lucky walks in to join
them. He reassures a worried Elizabeth that he got special permission from
his counselor to be there. Luke tells everyone that he has told Laura that
she was in a car accident the night before the wedding. Laura believes
that she was driving and Rick Webber was the passenger when her brakes
failed and her car crashed killing Rick. Nikolas doesn't feel that it is a
good idea to lie to Laura, but Bobbie, Emily, Elizabeth, and Lucky agree
that Laura is too fragile to handle the truth right now. Nikolas and Lulu
reluctantly agree to go along with the accident story. Luke then announces
that he and Laura are getting married as Tracy walks in and reminds Luke
that he is still married to her.
Laura is at the house napping on the couch when Lesley comes in from the
store. Laura shares the news of her engagement to a surprised Lesley. They
start talking about the music box and Laura comments on how much she loves
it. Lesley tells her that when she was a little girl she would listen to
it for hours and that Lesley got so sick of it that she took it and put it
in the attic. Leslie pauses as she realizes what she has just said, but
Laura does not seem to remember anything. Leslie begins to talk to Laura
about how much Rick loved her. Leslie tells Laura that she thinks it is
best to leave everything that happened in the past. Later as Laura is
looking through a photo album, she comes across photos of Rick and she
starts to have memories of being in the attic with Rick.
During the family meeting where Luke was convincing everyone that they had
to sugar coat their lives, Tracy interrupted them, and asked Luke how he
expected to marry Laura if they were still married. She also tried to
convince everyone that lying to Laura was not the right thing to do, to
which the children agreed that it was not the best route. However, Bobbie
and Luke were worried what the possible effects of the truth would have on
Laura's mental state, and said that they should do what the doctors said.
Tracy said that she wasn't part of the family and would do whatever she
wanted. Luke asked to speak to Tracy in private, and when they were alone,
Tracy shared how much she cared for Luke. Luke let her know that he
appreciated how she treated him and his daughter. She let him know that
she wanted to stay his wife, and Luke let her know that money was not the
reason why he stayed with her. She also let him know how she felt that
Laura had not been the right person for him, and that he needed someone
who would let him be the man he was. He let her know that sometimes the
magic of love does not make sense, and that he needed to do whatever
possible to make Laura's transition to real life as easy as possible.
Tracy let him know that getting miracles are not necessarily free, and
that he should be prepared.
Luke shows up at Laura's house. She is very happy to see him and they
kiss. Laura tells him she wants them to get married on November 16th, the
25th anniversary of their first wedding. Luke wonders if they will be able
to plan a wedding within a week's time. Laura tells him she really wants
to have it then and at the same place, at the old mayor's mansion. Luke
tells her they can't have it there because it is now gone and the property
was sold to build some sports complex. Laura mentions having it at the
Quartermaine mansion outside near Lila's rose garden. Luke tells her that
Lila passed away a couple of years ago. Laura is saddened by her death but
is glad that Lila died peacefully in her sleep. Lulu comes home and is
happy to catch her parents kissing and seeming so happy. Laura asks Lulu
if she is angry at her for not being around for her when she was growing
up. Lulu tells her she doesn't blame her for what happened and she is o.k.
Laura asks Lulu to help her with planning the wedding.
Lulu finds out that they are planning to get married next Friday, on the
16th. She calls her professor to tell him she can't go to the play with
him because her parents are getting married. Luke walks outside and
overhears her arguing on the phone and telling him that she is cancelling
their date and to get over it. Luke assumes she is talking to a date or
classmate. Lulu tells him she was talking to her English professor. Luke
becomes concerned and thinks she is dating her professor. Lulu explains
that it isn't exactly a date and that he wants her to see some play called
"A Streetcar Named Desire" because it is similar in subject to
what she wrote her term paper on. Luke tells her it was a great play and
she would like it. Lulu tells him she can't go because it is on the same
day as when he is marrying Laura. Lulu doesn't want to talk about her
paper to Luke but he gets her to tell him anyway. Lulu tells him that her
paper is about madness. She tells him she is afraid she will get sick like
Laura did because there is a genetic link to mental illness. Luke asks her
where she got such an idea. Lulu tells him she read it on the internet.
Luke talks to her and tries to assure her that what happened to Laura
isn't going to happen to her. Laura overhears Lulu tell Luke she is afraid
she will go crazy like Laura did. Laura keeps listening and gets a
sickening feeling about what really happened four years ago.
Later, Luke goes to see Edward at the mansion. He informs him that he got
a divorce from Tracy and that he is remarrying Laura next week. Edward is
pleased Luke is out of the family and out of his life. Luke asks Edward if
they could get married outside in Lila's rose garden. Edward agrees to let
them because he and Lila have always been fond of Laura. Meanwhile, Laura
starts having flashbacks of talking to her stepfather, Rick Webber about
the attic and sees him coming toward her with a syringe of some kind.
Laura goes to the old attic and starts to remember what happened when Rick
found her in the attic and tried to sedate her. She starts crying when she
realizes she killed him by hitting him over the head with a heavy object.
Luke comes over to see Laura and the phone rings. Luke talks to someone
about the wedding and calls to Laura, thinking she is upstairs. Laura
doesn't answer and Luke notices the window is open. Lesley comes home and
Luke realizes that Laura must of overheard him talking to Lulu and thinks
she went to the attic to try and remember something.
Since Helena was committed to the same mental hospital as Laura was, the
Cassadine fiend charmed an orderly into finding out everything he could
about Mrs. Spencer's case history. Laura recalled her violent
confrontation with Rick. Luke burst in and was crushed to find her in such
emotional distress. "I killed my stepfather," she sobbed and was
terrified of going mad again. Luke begged her to leave with him but she
demanded to know the entire truth. "I forced you to confront things
you weren't ready to handle," Luke lamented. "I thought I could
take care of you." He said they needed professional guidance but
Laura said all she ever needed was him. He agreed to help her remember and
explained how Rick had been drugging her to forget that she accidentally
killed his lover years ago. Laura then recalled on her own how four years
ago, Rick tried to drug her again and she killed him with a blow to the
head. "It wasn't murder," Luke explained. "It was an
accident." Laura begged Luke to forgive himself and they tenderly
embraced. Lulu informed her brothers that their mother was marrying Luke
next week. Nikolas reminded his siblings that Luke is still married to
Tracy and had serious doubts about how Luke was handling Laura's recovery.
The siblings decided to trust Luke and rejoiced about the upcoming
wedding. Oops. Helena overheard their conversation and vowed to escape in
order to attend the nups.
Laura is having a therapy session with Lainey and tells her that she has
remembered everything and she is able to face what happened with Rick 4
years ago. While Laura is with Lainey, Robin and Luke are talking in the
hallway. Robin is urging Luke to tell Laura and the family that the drug
is only temporary and that psychomotor disassociation will come back. Luke
and Robin discuss how they knew the drug's miracle cure for Laura was only
going to be temporary from the start. Robin explains that the psychomotor
disassociation is a physical condition as opposed to a psychological
condition and that there is no cure for it. Luke is reluctant to tell
Laura or anyone else that her cure is only temporary because she is so
happy and enjoying her life again. Luke assembles the entire family
together (Lulu, Nikolas, Lucky, and Lesley) so he and Laura can share the
news that she remembered everything and that she is ok. They are all
relieved to hear that. Laura begs her family not to keep anymore secrets
from her and to be honest from now on. Lucky tells Laura about his
addiction, affair, and the subsequent break up of his marriage to
Elizabeth. Laura is supportive of Lucky and she tells him that she is
proud of him for how he is fighting to get his life back on track.
Tracy refused to let Luke marry Laura in the Quartermaines' garden, saying
that it was wrong to make his wife watch him marry someone else. Luke
tried to explain that he was trying to give Laura one complete day of
happiness, and that was all he was after. He let her know that he loved
her, and that their marriage was a true marriage, but that he wanted to
give his children and Laura happiness while he could. She tried to
convince him that he needed to let the children know of Laura's prognosis.
He disagreed, saying that they all should be able to be happy as long as
possible.
Laura found Luke brooding. He insisted everything is fine. She lamented
losing four years, and revealed she still has some blank spots in her
memory. She praised Luke for waiting four years for her. Meanwhile, bound
in a straightjacket, Helena confessed to Nikolas that Colleen was her
operative, but Nikolas wouldn't listen. He ordered her sent to a facility
in Arkansas. At GH, Robin told Patrick that Laura had summoned her, and
she dreads telling Laura the bad news about her condition. Lulu visited
Laura to ask for help choosing a dress. Nik brought Spencer to visit
Laura, and assured her that Helena is out of the picture. Then Robin
arrived. Laura told her about her shaky memory and invited Robin to the
wedding. Back at GH, Lucky told Liz he's been released from rehab. Later,
Liz visited Laura, who advised her to have an open mind toward Lucky
because some loves can overcome near-impossible odds — like hers
and Lucky's. Luke checked on straightjacketed Helena, who hinted that
Laura's recovery may not go well. Luke threatened to snap her "lovely
neck" if she interferes. Helena promised Luke hasn't heard the last
of her. Back at GH, Robin lamented not heeding Patrick and staying out of
Laura's case. Lucky visited Laura and vowed to fight for his recovery and
his family. Laura revealed that Liz agreed to keep an open mind. Laura
said Lucky will be a great father. Luke found Laura going over the guest
list, and promised her the day will be perfect. Back at Shadybrook, Helena
was released from her straightjacket by the man who may (or may not) be a
doctor. She told him to make it look like she's a patient in Arkansas
because Luke and Laura are getting hitched tomorrow, "and I wouldn't
miss that for the world."
Luke & Laura's Wedding Laura and Lulu walk around the Quartermaine
estate and talk. Laura feels like it has been 25 years since her first
wedding to Luke but other times it feels like yesterday. Lulu tells her
that she is awed by the love she sees in her parents' eyes when they look
at each other and hopes she finds a love like theirs. Lulu leaves to go
get ready for the wedding. Helena shows up and surprises Laura. Laura asks
her if she is there to curse her wedding to Luke. Helena tells her she
wouldn't miss this wedding and that she doesn't have to do anything
because this marriage won't last anyway. Luke walks around the living
room, dressed in jeans and shirt. Tracy finds him and she is wearing all
black as if it is a funeral not a wedding. She reminds him that if he
marries Laura he is committing bigamy. Luke asks her to just let Laura
have this day. Tracy tells him she isn't that generous. They end up taking
their argument out in the foyer. Bobbie shows up and Tracy storms off.
Luke sits down with Bobbie to tell her the secret he is keeping from his
children and friends about Laura. He asks her not to tell the kids what he
is about to tell her, that this wedding is about all Laura will have for
this marriage. Robert shows up and tells Luke he is there to make sure he
gets ready and makes it on time for the wedding. He ushers Luke upstairs
to get dressed before Luke can explain to Bobbie what he meant.
Later, Laura seems to get lost in the hallways upstairs in the mansion.
She finds her room and sees that her mother, Emily, Elizabeth, and Lulu
are there waiting for her. Emily gives her a pair of sapphire earrings
that Lila gave her to borrow and that they are blue so that takes care of
two of the traditions. Lulu and Elizabeth give her a new bracelet to wear.
Finally, her mother gives her an old lace handkerchief that her own mother
gave her many years ago. Laura is touched by all of their gifts. Later,
Lucky helps Luke put on his tie and the two embrace over how special it is
to have Laura back with them so they can all be together again as a
family. Lucky is pleased that Elizabeth is also going to be at the
wedding. Tracy gets drunk and shows up at the ceremony, practically
falling all over. Edward grabs her and warns her not to ruin Laura's day.
Tracy ignores him and plans to do whatever she pleases. Edward makes her
sit down between Alan and Monica so they can keep an eye on her. He orders
Alice to use whatever force is necessary if Tracy gets out of hand during
the ceremony. Maxie shows up to crash the wedding. She tells Dillon that
she came because she is expecting Luke and Laura's grandchild and should
be there. Elizabeth and Lulu aren't too pleased to see her. Lucky is
surprised to see her there when he arrives with Luke as his best man.
Laura gets ready upstairs in her room and Nikolas shows up to check on her
and to escort her down the aisle. Lulu asks Dillon to videotape the
wedding because he has experience with filming things. He reluctantly
agrees to do it. He videotapes his mother talking about Luke's phony
marriage to Laura. Monica tells her that Luke got a quickie divorce from
her. Tracy realizes that Dillon is videotaping her. She puts her hand over
the camera lens to stop him. The ceremony begins. Luke and Laura start to
exchange vows.
The priest asks if there is anyone who believes they shouldn't be wed.
Tracy is about to stand up to object but Monica trips her as she tries to
walk over to the altar. Tracy falls flat on her face and is sprawled out
on the aisle. Alice picks her up and carries her out of the reception.
Laura watches them in concern and asks Luke to look at what is going on.
Luke refuses to look at Tracy and what happened and tells her he has
tunnel vision right now and wants to get on with the ceremony. Laura sees
Helena from across the altar but then Helena disappears. Laura loses her
train of thought at first, and Robin and Patrick worry that she is going
to start relapsing during the wedding. Laura gives her vows to Luke and
the two are pronounced husband and wife. They share a kiss and everyone
applauds. Luke proposes a toast to Laura and thanks their friends and
family for sharing their day together. Leslie orders all the single women
to get up and get ready for the bride to throw the bouquet. Maxie pushes
her way to front of the single women and catches the bouquet. Laura turns
around and sees that it is Maxie and isn't too pleased. Elizabeth doesn't
say anything but is disgusted by Maxie's behavior. The photographer takes
pictures of everyone in the family in various poses. Maxie has the nerve
to step in and take a picture with the family. Laura and Elizabeth can't
believe what she is doing. Elizabeth walks off after the picture is taken
and Lucky follows her. Everyone else follows them and Maxie is left
standing alone with the bouquet. She isn't pleased that Lucky went after
Elizabeth to be with her. Luke and Laura are surprised when a horse drawn
carriage shows up for them. Luke tells her that he didn't come up with the
idea and that Nikolas insisted that she deserved to have something
sophisticated to ride away in. They end up at a gazebo where they dance.
Back at the reception, Lucky apologizes to Elizabeth because Maxie crashed
the wedding and tells her he didn't know she was going to do that.
Elizabeth tells him she doesn't want to talk about Maxie and they dance
instead. Alice opens up the closet and puts a piece of wedding cake on a
tied up and gagged Tracy's lap. She closes the closet with Tracy still
inside.
At the Luke and Laura's reception, Rick came in with official business to
arrest Sonny for being an accessory. Sonny said if Jason and Sam haven't
surrendered themselves it is because Ric set up an ambush. Elizabeth's
ears perked up. Carly asked Ric if he did, she told him that they still
had 15 minutes left. She started going off on Ric and pushing him when
Elizabeth distracts everyone as she passed out on the floor, breaking
glass as she fell. Meanwhile, Luke and Laura slow dance together in
a moonlight gazebo. Later, they were in the bridal sweet having a toast to
their marriage, but Laura wanted to know the truth about herself. She told
Luke that she saw Helena. He wanted to know when and where. She told him
it was before the wedding and Helena told her that she could enjoy the
wedding because it wasn't going to last long because it was going to fade
away. Laura has figured out that her recovery isn't going to last. He told
her the truth, which she was going to gradually start losing her memory
until she would go back to where she started. Laura was upset, she said
she can fight it, and not to give up. Luke told her it wasn't something
that she can fight. Laura still didn't want to accept it, but she realized
that there has been a few times where she couldn't remember things. She
said she felt something was dragging her under like quicksand. She wanted
to know how long she had, he told her not long. She wanted to know how
long he knew. He told her from the beginning because that is one of the
things that he had to consider when he had to choose to give her the drug.
He said he wanted to do it for the kids, for her, but he was being selfish
and it was really for him. He loved her. He asked her what she would have
done. She told him she would have done the same thing with one exception,
she would have let him know from the beginning. He wanted to spare her the
fear and desolation that he felt. Laura realized how important time was,
and that it is gone in a blink of an eye. She told him that all this was
happening to both of them. He shouldn't try to carry it alone. He asked
her what she wanted to do. She told him there should be no regrets and she
wanted to make the best of her time. She didn't have the time to waste on
all the negative emotions. She wanted to tell the kids the truth. They
called the kids to the house.
Laura thanked her children for making it such a memorable day. It was just
like a dream. LuLu asked why she wanted to see them. Laura said she
didn't. Nikolas covered and said he must have misunderstood. Luke backed
out of telling them and they start to leave, but then Laura told them not
to go. She starts to tell them about the memory lapses, but LuLu ran out
and said that she couldn't hear this, Laura told Luke to go after her.
Nikolas suspected already and he asked her if her recovery was permanent.
Lucky held back the tears. Luke tried to talk to LuLu and she realized
that he has known all along. They are devastated to hear the news that her
miraculous recovery is only temporary and that Luke knew this all along.
Lulu takes it especially hard and she is upset that she is going to lose
Laura again. Lulu is furious with Luke for lying to them, but Laura
defends Luke's choices and says she would have done the same thing. Laura
urges her children that they need to live their lives to the fullest when
she is gone and take care of each other. She asks her children to share
their memories with her and they look through photo albums and reminisce
about all the good times they have shared. Laura has a moment when she
"loses time" and she seems to space out. When she "comes
back" she momentarily forgets everything that is going on and she
makes a comment about how she wants this Christmas to be the best ever.
When she realizes that she won't be around for Christmas she becomes upset
and runs outside. Luke follows her to comfort her and they share an
emotional moment together.
At the Spencer home, Lulu was devastated at the thought of losing her
mother again but Laura wouldn't hear of it. She wanted her family to have
one last Christmas together. The kids suggested waiting until the morning,
but Laura didn't want to take any chances, so Christmas at the Spencers
was tonight. In a moment alone, Laura knew something had been bothering
Lulu and wanted to know what it was. Lulu finally, tearfully came clean to
her mother about the abortion. Laura was saddened, supportive. Laura
assured Lulu that she has her mom's unconditional love. Outside the Q
estate, Tracy was furious to find Luke chopping down one of the
Quartermaine trees and she got even more upset when he said he had to
hurry to get back to his wife. Luke apologized for hurting Tracy's
feelings. He placed his jacket around her shoulders, but she tossed it off
and left. Laura went blank and asked why there was a Christmas tree
in the room. Her memory came back and she thanked her family for indulging
her wishes. Luke placed the Christmas angel upon the tree and Laura she
she hopes her children will all know the love that she holds for her
husband. Luke and Laura kissed. "Merry Christmas, my angel."
Luke replied.
As Luke, Laura, Nikolas, Lucky and Lulu were celebrating Christmas it was
obvious that Laura was slowly slipping away. Laura decided that she needed
to see her doctor to see how much time she had. After examining her,
Patrick let the family know that she was slipping back into her illness
and that there was nothing that could be done. At that time, Laura decided
that she needed to go back to Shadybrook as soon as possible so that she
could be the one to admit herself, and not have others make the decision
for her. Lulu was very resistant to the idea, and was angry that her
mother would not fight to stay with Luke and her children this time
around. Laura let them know that this was a difficult decision, but she
wanted to be able to leave on her own accord.
At Shadybrook's, the children came to see Laura, and was obvious that she
was slipping. Luke was able to get her out of the state so that she could
say goodbye to her children. She first spoke to Nikolas, letting her know
that she understood him the best because they had the same heart. He let
her know that he was so appreciative that she was his mother, and that he
would cherish every moment they had together. He would share his memories
with Spencer, so that he would learn what a wonderful grandmother he had.
Lucky was next, and she let him know that she felt that there was still a
chance between him and Elizabeth. She let him know that if was meant to be
it would happen. He let her know that he loved her. Finally, Lulu sat down
with her, and was apologetic to her earlier tantrum. Laura let her know
that she understood that why she was angry, but that she would always be
with her. She also shared that she saw so much of Luke in Lulu, that she
needs to stop protecting her heart, and be willing to open up to love. At
the end she also shared a secret with her daughter. While she understood
that Luke believed that she killed her stepfather in self defense, she
believed that she was innocent. Lulu promised to prove her innocence.
Luke came to visit Laura. He let her know that whatever she had said to
the children was helpful, and that they seemed to be content. She let him
know that she will always love him. They kissed, and she slowly slipped
away. Luke then said goodbye, letting her know that he hoped that she was
going to her special place where she was most content. He said that he
imagined her in her garden, content with her life, and that he would
eventually come to her. As he left her room, Laura seemed to go back and
remember the vows they had shared 25 years ago, and the happiness that was
part of it.
Luke is drinking and playing cards at the Haunted Star in an effort to
avoid dealing with his grief. Tracy calls him on his behavior and tells
him to grow up for Lulu's sake. She reminds Luke that Lulu needs him now
more than ever. Lulu is devastated and angry to learn that Luke lied to
her and more importantly to Laura, and she confronts Luke about this. Luke
defends his actions and tells Lulu he did it for her and Lucky. Lulu tells
Luke that she forgives him because she knows that is what Laura would want
her to do. Later when Luke is alone at Leslie's house, he is overcome by
his grief and he breaks down as he mourns Laura.
